Now on to my project.

Hey Dude, meet Waylon Waves; he's one cool surfer dude and is one of the new releases over at the Dude Time Doodles store.  He's colored with Copics and then I cut him out so he could be ridin' those waves.  The sun is the smallest die from the Eastern Rectangle set by Nellie Snellen and the caption is cut with the smallest die from the Deckled Edge Classic Ovals set from Spellbinders.  I used my Spica glitter pen to accent each letter.

Here's how I did the background.   (I got the idea from HERE.)  I took some tissue paper and spritzed it (a lot) with Glimmer Mist and Smooch Spritz.  Next, randomly place adhesive onto the cardstock and then begin placing the tissue paper on top.  I wanted bumps and waves (that's why you don't have adhesive everywhere).  After I was happy with it, I placed Waylon in the middle, tucking parts of the image under portions of the paper.  I also pop dotted his head, so it would look like he's riding a curl.  The white water was created using liquid applique.

Here's a side view, so you can see all the dimension.  Also, check out the board.  I covered it with glossy accents, which really made it look like it was wood (if you see the actual card).  I really didn't like the way the surf board looked until I added the glossy accents; it looked too dull and lifeless to me.  Now, I'm really happy with the way Waylon turned out.  What do you think?

Now it's time to check out what the rest of the design team has in store for you today.  You'll be able to see all the new releases worked up in projects and you'll be able to purchase any of the new images today in the store!

Naughty or Nice?

Here's Maude peeking through the snow covered window.  So has she been naughty or nice this year?

....... and the answer is......

This humorous image was a digital freebie from Just Inklined. Neither of the guys in my household thought she was very attractive, but I think she's outright hilarious.  I think the caption flowing across the entire card tells what Santa believes.

Maude is colored with Copic markers (she's very pale because she's indoors so much) and I added Flower Soft to the window, which was cut with the Peony dies from Spellbinders, and to her Santa hat.  All the papers are from Echo Park's Everybody Loves Christmas collection.

So what do you think of Maude?

DTD Dec. Inspiration Challenge

Are you ready to get inspired?  Dude Time Doodles Inspiration Challenge is here.

I chose Doghouse Doug from Bonibleaux Designs Digis for my image and used most of the color combos in my design.  Sunset for the tee shirt, cobalt in the background paper, taos for the doghouse, and poolside on the water bowl.  I used Copic markers to color Doug.  After cutting him out, I adhered him to patterned paper from Creative Memories that I had in my stash.   A little glossy accents was used on the water.  I also used a clear glitter pen on each of the stars (but it doesn't show up here).

Here's the inside.  I stamped the base cardstock with Versamark ink and then used a little brown chalk to highlight the paw prints (manufacturer of paw print unknown).

I used my computer to generate the sentiment and clip art for dog bone.  I cut the bone out, highlight certain areas with brown chalk, and then adhered it to my base.

Now here's your inspiration.

You will have two weeks to use the colors, layout, picture inspiration, whatever grabs you from this board and create a Masterpiece.
Be sure to use the InLinkz button to submit your creation at Dude Time Doodles.  We will choose our Top Three winners and Top Blog winner and announce it at DTD on January 3.

Be sure to visit everyone on the design team and see what they came up with too.  You'll find LOTS of inspiration!

Christmas Mail

This shaped card was created using Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Ovals.  It's pretty easy to do.  Just make sure part of the die is hanging off your pre-scored paper so that it won't cut that part out.  When you open it up, your card is ready to enhanced.

I chose Heartfelt Creations' Cardinal Holiday Mailbox pre cut rubber stamp set for both my image and the sentiment inside.  I stamped my image with Memento ink and colored it in with Copic markers.  I highlighted the berries and the bow on the package with Smooch pearlized inks for added sparkle.  After cutting it out, the mailbox was layered onto a piece of patterned paper that was cut with a smaller Classic Scalloped Oval.

For the cardinal, I stamped him onto glossy cardstock that I had applied alcohol inks to and embossed him.  Next I cut the cardinal out using the Cardinal Family dies made by Spellbinders for Heartfelt Creations.  Then I layered him on top of the mailbox for added dimension.

Here's a close up so you can see how sparkly the Smooch inks are.

And this is what the inside looks like.  Although the photo doesn't capture it very well, I chose a pine branch stamp from the Holly Berry Filler stamp set and used VersaMark ink to watermark the center and then stamped the sentiment on top of this monochromatic image with Memento inks.

Be sure to scroll down to see my other post for today (it's a two-fer day, yea!)

Cowgirl Pattiboob

I used this adorable digital image for two different challenges.  The first one is for the Color Challenge going on at Challenge Masters.  (Sign up - it's free and there are tons of new challenges each week.)   You had to use red, green, and pink.  I'm not a big fan of pink, but I love this Echo Park paper and knew it would be perfect for my cowgirl image by Pattie's Creations.

The second challenge is for Pattie's Creations Design Challenge and you are to be inspired by a photo.  Although the photo is of belly dancers, there are greens and reds and pinks, so I decide my Christmas cowgirl would fit the rules there too.

My cowgirl is colored with Copic markers and I used the Spellbinder's Deckled Mega Rectangles to cut the image out.  When I saw the image, it looked like she was standing in snow, so I used Flower Soft on the ground and for the falling snow.  I also used a Viva Decor pearl pen to make my pearls in the corners.  Added a little red rick rack, and Cowgirl Pattiboob is all ready to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Ya'll!

Copics used: G17, G14, G19, G29, colorless blender     E00, E01, E11, R20     G19, G29, E43, E55, E57       R14, R24

Edited:  this card won the Allie's Choice Award from the Pattie's Creations Design Challenge 12/16/10 (yea and thanks!)

There are two posts today; be sure to check both of them out.

Snowman Wreath

These images are part of the Snowmen Melt Your Heart and Holly Berry Filler rubber stamp sets by Heartfelt Creations.  First, I stamped the holly leaves multiple times using Memento inks and cut each one out.  Next, I adhered them to a circle, cut with Spellbinders, to resemble a wreath.  The snowman is colored with Copic markers, cut out and centered inside the wreath opening.  These are layered onto the green paper that was die cut using the Wonky Squares by Spellbinders.  I distressed the edges of the purple cardstock.

The inside of my card looks like this:
I watermarked the purple cardstock using the holly stamp and Versamark ink pad to create a monochromatic look.  A smaller Wonky Square die was used to cut the green center.  I stamped the sentiment, also from the Holly Berry Filler set and the holly leaves with Memento inks.

Honey Do

Most households have a "honey do" list and this card is for those dudes.  Pete Plumber is from Bonibleaux Designs Digis.  I colored him with Copic markers, cut him out and pop dotted him for added dimension.  I also used a cut up rag and colorless blender to distress Pete's jeans.  The two sentiments are part of a sheet of My Minds Eye paper that I cut out and highlighted the letters with a clear Spica glitter pen.

I used a EK Success border punch on either side and inked the edges with Distress inks.  Here's a close up of Pete and part of the sentiment showing the Spica glitter pen.

Copics used (left in the same groups as I used them): T8, T8, T10   RV99, RV93   G03, G05, G09   E000, E00, E11    E31, E35, E37, E04, E07, E09     E39, E29    B24, B26, B28    C00, C02

Christmas Card/Tag

This quick and easy card was created so the recipient can take the flower off and use it as a tag, or it could also be an ornament.  (It's adhered to the card with repositionable double sided tape.)   I used the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die by Sizzix to cut out 3 layers.  The bottom layer is green for leaves and the other two are what ever color you want them to be.  I chose red so it would resemble a poinsettia.  I offset the top two layers and added a button for the center.

All the papers are from Echo Park's Merry Christmas collection.  The sentiment is actually part of the bottom portion of the page that you cut off.  I thought it was perfect for this small card, so I cut it out.

DTD Dec Sketch Challenge

It's time for a new sketch challenge over at Dude Time Doodles!
Here is your starting point and the rules: 1. You have two weeks to flip it, twist it, or leave it, but have fun with it.  2. You are not required to use a BDD image, but it makes all of us DT Heroines really happy and giggle a lot when you do.  3. It MUST be a masculine themed card.  It can be humorous, sarcastic, have innuendo or be a bit naughty, but it has to be for a DUDE4. Use the InLinkz button to submit your creation.

The Top Blog Winner and Top Three winners will be announced on Dec 19 over at Dude Time DoodlesDaisy Doodles has graciously agreed to be DTD's sponsor this month!  She is giving three digis of your choice from her store for the Top Blog winner and each winner will receive a badge.

I decided to use Tiny Tequila for my card (he's under the New Releases over at Bonibleaux Designs) and used the sketch pretty much as it was.  He's wearing his festive Christmas sombrero today since he can only bring it out for a short time each year.

All the papers are from Echo Park's Merry Christmas collection.  (I just recently discovered Echo Park and I love their paper.)   As usual, Tiny is colored with Copic markers.  I cut him out and then pop dotted him for added dimension.  The sentiment was generated on my computer, cut out with one of the Ribbon Tag Trio dies from Spellbinders, and I inked all the edges with Distress ink.  I added a little deep red bling and called it good.   (In hindsight, I wish I had colored the guns like candy canes instead of guns.  But as they say......hind site is perfect.  Next time!).

Now, it's your turn to use the sketch and come up with something fabulous!

Copics (left in groupings I used them in): YR 13, YG17, R37, R39      E51, E53, E55     N3, N5     C5, C9     E25, E27, E37, BG09, BG78     C1, C2, Y00     BG75, BG78      E31, E33, E39

Christmas Morning

Who wouldn't want to wake up Christmas morning to a gorgeous Christmas tree with lots of packages underneath?  I think just about everyone, no matter your age : ).

This card uses two different digital images from Bonibleaux Designs.  The first is            O' Christmas Tree and the other is Presents!  Both are located under the "Christmas" section.  Copics were used to color in all the images.  After coloring the presents, I cut them out and adhered them under the tree.

After cutting the tree out with Spellbinders Curved Rectangles (#5, assumes #1 is the smallest), I outlined the edge with Scattered Straw Distress Stickles.  The ornaments and the star also have Scattered Straw on them.  I used Crystal Stickles to highlight the blue garland going around the tree as well as the center of the star.

This top layered is adhered to patterned paper from Creative Memories (that I had in my stash), which I corner rounded and added pearl accents to each corner.  Next, I adhered this layer to my base red cardstock and as a finishing touch, I spritzed Smooch Spritz all over the front.

Since the basic red cardstock looked so plain on the inside of the card, I used my Stampers' Anonymous Merry Christmas stamp and Versamark ink pad and randomly stamped on both panels.  Then I stamped the image again with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and highlighted it with a clear glitter pen.  I also randomly stamped a present in empty-looking areas (not sure of the manufacturer of this stamp) to fill out the inside.

Copics used (left in the groupings I used them in): YG17, YG67     E74     B12, B14, B16     Y06, Y08, Y13    B02, B04, B05, B18    G14, G17    RV08, RV09, YG00, YG01, YG21    V04, V05, Y19, Y38    R14, R17,    B39, B63      E07, E09     FRV1     R59,YR0000     BV01, BV02, BV04, BV17
