Make A Wish {Scrapy Land Challenge #50}

It's already the third Wednesday of September (where has the year gone to?), so that means it's time for a new Scrapy Land Challenge #50.  The theme for this challenge is an easy one and something that most of us keep on hand at all times: Happy Birthday.  So create a new birthday card and include any brand of dies that Scrapy Land sells in their store.  There are over 40 different brands available.

The following dies were used for this birthday card:

Die-Versions: Make A Wish Sweet Wordlet
Die-Versions: Morocco Background
Impression Obsession: Cake set
Elizabeth Craft Designs: Tags and More 3 - Leaves

I created this card for my aunt, who happens to share the same birthdate as me :-).  I started out by die cutting my tag using the Tags and More from white cardstock and then giving it color by combining Distress Inks (Blueprint Sketch, Spun Sugar).   I also adhered quite a few of the negative pieces from the Morocco Background die cut to the front for a bit more visual interest.

Next I die cut the cake piece by Impression Obsession from white cardstock and chocolate patterned paper.  For the frosting, I used the Glueless Glitter technique to add glitter.  Start out by heat setting your embossing powder (I used Ranger - White Pearls), add more VersaMark on top of the melted embossing powder, liberally cover with glitter (I used Sparkle N Sprinkle - Bubble Gum glitter), shake off the excess glitter, and heat set it again.

For the candle, which is part of the Cake set, I colored the base with a Copic marker and then added Crystal Clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle Glitter Markers for lots of shimmer.  The flame was created using Nuvo Crystal Drops (English Mustard, Red Berry).  I love the dimension this product gives to the flame.

The sentiment is a Sweet Wordlet from Die-Versions.  I took a piece of scrap cardstock, covered it with Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink and then heat embossed it with more White Pearls embossing powder from Ranger.   A tulle bow is the finishing touch to my tag.

The front of the card base was covered with more Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink using a blending tool.  The background was created by punching twelve 1" squares from patterned paper and adhering to the card base.

You'll have until October 2 to upload your birthday project to the Scrapy Land Challenge.  The winner, chosen by the Designers will receive a $15 gift certificate to go shopping at Scrapy Land.

Rich layers, Anne, and beautifully done with that poinsettia print paper, and the gold interspersed. Your inlaying is perfectly applied! Beautiful - hard to believe it can be so pretty and flat - wonder when I'll learn that lesson as effectively as you have? I'm trying! (does that count?) LOL xo
