Retro Birthday {Scrapy Land #55}

It's time for a new Scrapy Land Challenge, and since it's the first Wednesday of the month, the theme is Anything Goes using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.

I used the following dies to create this birthday card:

Die-Versions: Retro Car
Impression Obsession: All-in-One Frame Rectangles 2
Tonic Studios: Retro Birthday.  Here are lots of other choices for the sentiment as well.

I started out by die cutting the Retro car from both white cardstock and red mirror cardstock.  I embellished a couple of the negative white pieces by adding glossy accents and sprinkling a little glitter onto the wet glue.  Copic markers were used to color the wheels.

The background was created by die cutting the All-in One rectangles die twice - once from the plaid cardstock and once from black cardstock.  Since this die cuts all the frames at the same time, I just inserted the ones I wanted and then adhered together on the back.  then I added my snowy backdrop (since this is for a winter birthday).

The sentiment was die cut twice as well - once in the red mirror cardstock and once in black cardstock.  Then these are layered together to give a shadow effect.  Normally, the white that you see between the letters is open space, but it needed to be emphasized more.  To create the backing for this sentiment, I used the negative cutout.  I traced around it with a pencil and then fussy cut it out.

The card front was dry embossed with a Tonic Studio embossing folder (Modern Chevrons) before adhering the focal pieces.

Anne, this is one fantastic retro card! I love that the car looks so authentic with the different colors you have die cut, and frame is perfect on that madris plaid!! But the tonic dies look REALLY spectacular! I can almost visualize the movies I have seen at drive in theaters - thanks for the happy memories and terrific card! hugs, de
