Are you ready for Challenge #39 from Pattie's Creations? Hope so because it's a fun one: Tags.

Chef Pattieboop was my inspiration for the tag. You can find this and lots of other images at Pattie's Esty store. The background was created with Paper Soft Colors (Sunny Yellow) and the image is colored with Copic markers. The Dainty Dots Border at the top is a die-namic from My Favorite Things and the sentiment is a clear stamp from Stampendous.

If You've Got It, Flaunt It

Spring colors is the Dude Time Doodles challenge for this First Wednesday of the month. Here's your inspiration photo and colors.

I wanted to try the Rocker cards that I've been seeing around blogland and found they are very easy to make. I also wanted to try something a bit different for the base, so I used my Mega Italian Flourish die from Cheery Lynn Designs. The paper is by Core'dinations, so it's nice and heavy and easily stands on it's own.

Since the die is a bit lacy, I thought the Corset I image from Bonibleaux Designs would be perfect. I created my own background by airbrushing Copic markers over a mask created from the Canadian Kaleidoscope die by Cheery Lynn Designs onto white cardstock. For the "lace" behind the Corset, I cut out two additional Canadian Kaleidoscope die cuts, cut each one in half, and folded each of the four pieces accordion style and layered them on top of each other.

I punched holes in the Corset so I could thread the gold elastic cording, which is recycled from an old tag, through the holes to add a more realistic look to the corset. I also used my gold Spica glitter pen to coordinate the sides of the corset with the cording. On the inside, I die cut my paper with the Eyelet Square (#4) from Spellbinders. I heat embossed my sentiment, from I Brake for Stamps, with gold embossing powder and added a Flourish Accent from Spellbinders.

Clean and Simple (one of my favorites) is this week's challenge from the Digi Makeover Challenge team.

You can't get much simpler than this, but it looks really good in person. I've chosen the Sailboat from the Sailing By set by Paper Makeup Stamps. Glossy accents was added to all the "wood" portions for a nice sheen. I also printed the double sail twice so I could pop dot it for added dimension. The boat itself is also pop dotted so it's not right up against the sun. I like to try and use my "stuff" in different ways besides the obvious. As I was looking at the Italian Flourish doily from Cheery Lynn Designs, I though it would make a pretty good sun shining behind the sailboat. What do you think?

Pattie's Creations is the sponsor for the 100th challenge at Craft Your Passion today. So that means it's going to be BIG. The theme is Anything Goes - how fun and easy. Their rules are listed on the challenge site.

For my card, I decided to color Allie and Wheelbarrow from Pattie's Esty store. If you haven't visited her store lately, you really need to. There are so many cute images to choose from. Everything is colored with Copic markers and for dimension, I added Flower Soft to all the flowers in the wheelbarrow. A bit of tulle, ribbon, and other embellishments and I have a card ready for most any occasion.

In honor of 2012 being a Leap Year and the fact that it's time for our blog hop, Dude Time Doodles is having a New Release Blog Leap! It's a fun one, with four new images. As this only happens once every four years, Father Flanagan is allowing himself a smoke and a toast to your well being. He's always willing to send you cheers, but he only smokes on Feb 29 :-) .

My inspiration for the design was a bar that I frequented during college called Old Church. It was truly an older church that, after many different variations, became a bar. Therefore, the Cathedral Lace Frame (I just used the frame portion of the die) from Cheery Lynn Designs, was quite fitting for the surroundings. The "bar" was cut with an EK Success border punch and embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder (wood grain) and the raised portions accented with Distress Inks (Aged Mahogany). In order for it to resemble an actual bar, I decided an easel card would be best, as well as pop dotting the entire image away from the background. The sentiment is from Raindrop Echo.

Luck o'the Irish

I created a gift/treat bag (Sizzix) to fill with yummy goodies for St. Patrick's Day, using several different techniques, for the iCopic challenge (anything but a card). The first technique I wanted to try is called Glittered Copics, where you use your Copic markers to tint glitter. (You can find the video tutorial here.) I began by taping the umbrella stencil from Dreamweavers to white cardstock and using a glue pad to apply glue to the exposed area. I didn't want to glitter the entire card as was done in the tutorial; just the umbrella. Next I liberally applied PK Glitz glitter (white pearl) to the glue, burnished it in with my fingertip, and then colored with my Copics. This was a really fun technique and I definitely want to try it again.

I decided to add a black mat so the glittered umbrella would pop better. The background for the umbrella was created by using several layers of the Canadian Kaleidoscope and the Canadian Kaleidoscope Angel Wings dies from Cheery Lynn. The sentiment is cut with Spellbinders and for the background, I used a technique called Chalk Attraction (you can find out more about it here) with a shamrock rubber stamp. I also used this same rubber stamp to create coordinating tissue paper.

Once I had written my sentiment, I wanted it to be

shiner, so I applied Versamark over the entire die cut and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Lastly, I added some shamrock ribbon to complete the project.

I think I bake some shamrock cookies to fill this cute treat bag.

It time for the Digi Makeover Challenge #25 and this week's challenge is a sketch.

Skater Cat, a digi from Paper Makeup Stamps was my inspiration for this challenge. The image is colored with Copic markers and the skate board is painted with a mixture of Shimmerz paint (angel wings) and Stickles (Waterfall). Spellbinders dies (Postage Stamps) was used to create the backing mats. The sentiment is part of the Little Words Digi Sentiment set, also from PMS.

Vintage Mannequin with Hat

The theme for today's challenge at Pattie's Creations is Vintage. I wanted to create something a bit different for this challenge, so I altered a cigar box. I took pages from a very old book and decoupaged them to cover the entire box. The "stamps" all around the box are from a sheet of Graphic 45 paper that I cut up. I wanted to replicate the feel of an old travel trunk covered with images from all the far away places visited. The image, Vintage Mannequin with Hat from Pattie's Esty store, is colored with Copic markers. I printed the image twice and fussy cut both out as I wanted to partially pop dot the mannequin head and hat from the table (as you can see in this photo).

I also created several roses with the Rose Creations dies from Spellbinders and added them to the corner.

Like Branches on a Tree

The Digi Makeover Challenge #24 is to use word art as your focal point.

I've chosen Like Branches on a Tree from Paper Makeup Stamps as my inspiration for this. After printing out this digi sentiment and cutting it with a Spellbinder's dies, I airbrushed Twiggy Tree (a die from Memory Box) onto the background using Copic markers (B21, B24). Eclipse tape was used for my mask so the pressure from the airbrushing wouldn't blow it around (the branches are too thin to adhere temporary tape to). The frame, which is pop dotted for a bit of dimension, is embossed with a Cheery Lynn Designs embossing plate and the roses are also a Spellbinder's die.

The rules are simple - you must use a digi image and follow this week's theme. You don't have to use a Paper Makeup Stamps image, but your prize will be bigger if you do and you are chosen the winner. Since there are over 100 word art sentiments at Paper Makeup Stamps, I'm sure you could find some that you like. :-)

It's that time of the month. Of course I mean Dude Time Doodles Inspiration Challenge. Here is the inspiration board plus an added little twist - use dies or punches (die cutting machines qualify too). Our sponsor is Stamp by Step and the winner will receive a $15 gift certificate to the store.

Lucky Strike, a Bonibleaux Designs digital image from the Dude Time Doodles store, wanted to play in this challenge. Since we needed to use dies (one of my favorite things to do on a card), I decided to create a scene with different dies. After coloring Lucky with Copic markers and fussy cutting him out, he's standing on a pitcher's mound created with Spellbinders Deckled Ovals. His background was created using Spellbinder's Wonky Rectangles and the sun and the cloud are die-namics from My Favorite Things.

The patterned paper behind the scene is actually a page from an old book that I inked up with my Distress Stains to coordinate with the image. The card base is from Core'dinations.

Retail Therapy Gift Tag

This week's challenge from the Digi Makeover Challenge is to use only a portion of an image.

I went a step further and used a portion of a couple different images from the Retail Therapy set, plus one of the sentiments from the set from Paper Makeup Stamps. The images are cut using the Peony die from Spellbinders. Instead of making a card, I made a gift card holder tag and distressed it with Distress Inks (Victorian Velvet, Spun Sugar, Brushed Corduroy) and Smooch Spritz (vanilla shimmer). The other thing I did a bit differently on the images is to shade the background so the white of the uncolored image would really pop. I wasn't really sure if this would work, but I'm happy with the way they turned out. The images are attached to the tag with brads, so they can move around.

I had a little time to make a card for fun and I decided to make one more Valentine's card before V-Day. This was a really quick and easy card. Meet Automation, Love Robot, a digi from Paper Makeup Stamps. He's colored with Copic markers and fussy cut out. One of the things I really like about fussy cutting is that thinner pieces tend to curl on their own without having to put pop dots under them. That was definitely the case with his arms. It gives the card a very dimensional look to it.

The heart behind this cutie was created using Word and cutting it out. Although you don't really see it from this angle, I also applied Versamark over the entire heart and then clear embossed it. In person, it's very shiny. Since this will be for a teen boy, this is a very CAS type of card. On the inside, I stamped Happy Valentine's Day all over as a background for the hand written note.

Allie's Fish Kissing

It's time for a new challenge from Pattie's Creations and the theme is Valentine's and Love.

I decided to make a non traditional Valentine's card using Allie's Fish Kissing from Pattie's Esty store. I colored the bowl with Copic markers and paper pieced the water. For the fish, I airbrushed them with Copics and then went over the images with Spica glitter pens (the photo on the right shows how glittery and shimmery these pens really are). The air bubbles are Liquid Pearls (white opal).

This shaped card is cut using Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Frame 7 (#17, 21) and the papers are from Echo Park's Splash collection. The sentiment is something I came up with and is written on one of the Pastry Labels from Memory Box.

Zeke Zorro is the Freebie this week from Dude Time Doodles. Now I have to tell you, Zeke is a much better lover than fighter, but he'll fight to defend his girl's honor (and he's always wins) when he has to.

Zeke is colored with Copic markers and fussy cut out so he could be encircled by stars (Nellie Snellen die). The background mat was created by embossing a Cherry Lynn die and distressing with Distress Inks (Dusty Concord). I love using their dies to emboss with almost as much as using them to cut. Then I spritzed it with water and Smooch Spritz (Vanilla Shimmer). I offset this on the base red cardstock for a bit of added interest, added my sentiment (stickers from Creative Memories that I've had for a long time), a bit of twine, and I now have a fun masculine card.

I've chose Billy and Bianca from Paper Makeup Stamps to showcase these two colors. They are colored with Copic markers on cryogen paper and cut with Labels Five (#6) die from Spellbinders. I sewed my sentiment with my new Sew Easy (love) and embroidery floss. This is a very fun tool to use and there are quite a number of different patterns.

Fanny Online has decided to try out an Internet dating service and this guy (you have to check out Tammy's card) has tweaked her interest. Here's Fanny's response:

"Dear Tall, Dark, and Handsome......everything you posted in your profile is EVERYTHING I'm looking for..... Except that I really have a thing for balding, slightly paunchy, tattooed guys. Call me crazy, I know. But maybe we could still get together......."

As this is the first Wednesday of the month, that means there is a new challenge at Dude Time Doodles. You need to use a touch of red (in honor of Valentine's Day) on your project.

The image is colored with Copic markers and touches of Spica glitter pen. This shaped card is from the Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Frames 7 (#14, 16, 21, 22 - assumes the smallest number is the smallest die in the set). I added a bit of twine, some heart stickers and gems for the thought bubble and my card's all ready.

It's Monday and that means it's time for a new challenge from Paper Makeup Stamps' Digi Makeover Challenge. The challenge for this week is Valentine's.

I've chosen Caliope from Paper Makeup Stamps because I loved his little heart he was holding and the sentiment is from the Sending You Love digi set. He's colored with Copic markers and then fussy cut out. the heart is a mixture of Shimmerz paint (angel wing) and Stickles (Christmas Red) combined together on my non stick craft sheet and painted on. I love how it sparkles and shimmers. The sentiment is cut using a Fancy Tag One die from Spellbinders.

The rules are very simple - mainly use a digi image and follow this week's theme. You could win extra stuff if you use a Paper Makeup Stamps digi image, but it isn't required. Hello Cupcake

The new challenge for Pattie's Creations is embossing. It's you to you whether you choose to dry emboss or to heat emboss, but you must use a digi or rubber stamp. (The rest of the rules are posted on the blog for more clarification).

I've chosen the cupcake image from Pattie's Esty store and printed it out on Cryogen text weight paper (it's a lighter weight than cardstock) and colored with Copic markers. I love using the Cryogen papers because they are iridescent and have a wonderful shimmer to them.

For the background, I chose dry embossing. First I cut out more Cryogen paper with Spellbinder's Label Ten (#5) and then used the Cathedral Lace Frame die from Cheery Lynn Designs to dry emboss the paper. I've found that I can use the Cheery Lynn dies, along with their embossing pad, and emboss the design as well as cut it out. It's sort of like two for the price of one. I must tell you their embossing plates are fantastic too. Since I wanted the detail to stand out more, I reached for my Paper Soft Colors (Lilac) and used a dauber to apply the color. It gives it a nice subtle look to the dry embossing. Next, I pop dotted the fussy cut image onto the background. For the sentiment, I stamped the birthday message (The Rubber Cafe) directly onto the ribbon. I also added some Creative Inspirations paints (light purple) to the mat and card base for added sparkle.

Are you ready for the Dude Time Doodles New Release Blog Hop? After a month off to enjoy the holidays, there are some great dude images coming your way. The newest images will be available in the store after 10:00 am EST.

I've chosen Syd Sadsack and let me tell you - he's a manly man who isn't afraid to show his emotions and apologize when he know he is in the wrong! He's colored with Copic markers and the sentiment is from Create with TLC, also colored with Copics.

As for the fold of this card, I have no idea what it's called or even if it existed before. I hinged the image itself to a square base and backed the image (because the markers showed through) with coordinating paper. You lift up the image and underneath is a space to write your message. I think it looks really cool in person and not your usual card. It had to be something special since Syd is so sad. Now he could be sorry because he lost the big game or because he forgot your birthday or......

Winter Blues

Can you believe it's the 20th challenge for the Digi Makeover Challenge team? Seems like we just started. :-). This week's challenge is Winter Blues, so get out your shades of blues.

I chose Cosette from Paper Makeup Stamps to show off my Winter Blues. As usual, she's colored with Copic markers but I used some different combinations than I usually do (mainly on her skin tone and her hair). Her fairy wings are iridescently sparkly as a result of combining Shimmerz paint (Angel Wings) with Stickles (Waterfall). I mixed them on my non stick craft sheet and painted the mixture onto the wings with a small brush. I added a touch of Spica glitter pens in the tucks of the coat as well.

The flower is from a Marianne Designs die that incorporated ribbon into the design. I coordinated the ribbon with my image by using Distress Stains (Faded Jeans, Tumbled Glass) on white ribbon to get the color I wanted. I also added a bit of Copic marker to the center of the flower for more depth.

I don't know about you, but I love trying new techniques to see whether or not I like them. This is the first time I have ever tried stenciling and embossing paste and I had so much fun with it. I didn't want to stop. Putting on the embossing paste is just like icing a cake. Who knew that 12 1/2 years of being a cake decorating instructor would come in handy when trying to make a card? It's so easy.

For the front of the card, I stenciled the heart with the basic embossing paste and then fussy cut around the edges. Next I decided I wanted to add color, so I got out my alcohol inks and went to town. I liked it, but thought it needed more - so out came some Creative Inspirations paint (Pink Highlights) to give it a bit of sparkle. Even after all this, the image kept "telling" me to cut out the negative spaces (I had been ignoring this through all the other experimenting). Finally, that's what I did and loved the results.

While playing around, I also stenciled and embossed the You and Me multiple times onto red vellum and was going to make a background sheet. I also added a touch of Metallic FX to the wording by dipping my stipple brush into the powder and using a circular motion to apply.

While deciding how to put together the card, I came across my Lifestyle Crafts pop up door die and knew I wanted to incorporate this too. After maneuvering the pieces all around, I decided to cut the center out of the inside of the pop up door, place the vellum behind this so it would hint at the image on the inside, which is a rubber stamp from Inkadinkado and is cut out with Spellbinder's eyelet square. I also painted the ribbon with the Creative Inspirations paint to coordinate with the heart and add some bling to the inside of the card. I think I might give this to my husband for Valentine's Day, although it would be a good anniversary card too.

If you haven't tried stenciling and embossing paste, you definitely should. The only negative I saw was that you have to be patient and let it dry. :-). I think normal drying time is about an hour, but life happened and my experimenting sat on my desk for several weeks. (At least I knew it was completely dry.) This is definitely something I want to do more of, so expect to see it again soon. Next time, I want to try metal leafing or glitter or inks....

Only As Old As You Remember

Are you ready to play some Bingo? That's what the inspiration challenge from Dude Time Doodles is this month. This challenge is sponsored by Pattie's Creations and the winner will receive two images. To complete my Bingo card, I went straight down on the right: Twine - Shaped Card - Ribbon.

Meet Gladys Salt from Bonibleaux Designs. She certainly can be stern looking but she's trying to tell the recipient of this card to have a happy 39th birthday (again). The image is colored with Copic markers and touches of Glossy Accents were used on her glasses and necklace. My use of ribbon isn't the conventional bow: since the ribbon was only 1/8" thick, I decided to make some ribbon roses for Gladys' earrings.

If you don't know how to make a ribbon rose, it's really easy. Just take a glue dot and start by placing the ribbon in the center and begin going around in a circle as you twist and turn the ribbon until you've gone completely around the glue dot. Tuck the end behind the glue dot. That's all there is to it. Since this ribbon was so narrow, I made a small knot at the beginning of the ribbon and used that for my center.

I hand stitched pink/white twine around the outside edge of the card shape, completing my Bingo card. I also added twine and ribbon to the inside as well. I left plenty of room at the bottom to add my personal message to the recipient. The sentiment and card shape are cut with Spellbinder's dies.

A Fairy Nice Day

Today's challenge from the Digi Makeover Challenge is to use a fairy on your project. Meet Shelby, one of the fairy silhouettes from Paper Makeup Stamps.

My CAS card is pretty self explanatory - I used various textured white cardstock (all from my stash) and the black/white ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon. I spritzed the corrugated circle with a bit of Smooch Spritz for a shimmery effect. The image is cut with a Spellbinders die. Sometimes a card like this is harder for me that one where I color everything - but I want to expand my horizons and try other things.

Gardener Pattiboop

After a nice long holiday break, we are all ready to begin the new challenge (#35) from Pattie's Creations. The new challenge is to make a card with Fancy Folds. It can be anything from an easel card, side-step card, gate fold, etc.

I used Gardener Pattiboop from the store and sort of designed my own fold, loosely based on a Joy fold card. Above is the card folded and below is the card open. In order to create the right "fold" I used the Victorian Picket Fence die from Cheery Lynn Designs and adhered it to the back patterned paper panel (before adhering that to the base). On the inside left panel, I stamped my message "How are Things Growing".

The image is colored with Copic markers and cut out with the Large Label (#5) Spellbinders die.

For my card, I chose to do the "out of the box" technique so it would look like he's really handing his sweetheart the bouquet of flowers (which are covered with a combination of Lemon and Sunshine Yellow Flower Soft and pop dotted). Spellbinders die was used to die cut the Count out and Copic markers were used to color the image. I also added touches of glitter here and there.

BooBoo Monster

It's Monday and that means a new challenge is up for the Digi Makeover Challenge. This week's challenge is to make a Get Well card.

I chose BooBoo Monster from Paper Makeup Stamps (although he isn't currently listed under the digi stamps, I'm sure he will be there soon). He's colored with Copic markers and all the band-aids are colored with the fluorescent colors. These particular colors were chosen because, when my son was little, he loved to use the fluorescent band-aids. So I thought they might make this poor guy feel better too. For the tears, I added Micro Marbles and the sentiment is written on an actual band-aid.

Babe Watcher

HAPPY 2012! Since it's the first Wednesday in January, that means it's time for a new challenge from Dude Time Doodles. It's an easy one to get you back in the crafting groove: ANYTHING GOES.

For those of you who are stuck in lots of snow and cold and ice, I created my Babe Watcher easel card scene just for you. Can't you just feel the warm ocean breeze while you're relaxing on the sand and soaking in the rays? (At least you can image it before you have to go shovel more snow.)

Mr. Hunk was printed several times so I could add lots of dimension to his well toned and tanned body and Copic markers were used to show off this fine physique. I sprayed white cardstock with Smooch Spritz (gingersnap) to make the sun (a MFT die), the stickers are from Creative Memories (that I've had for a long time) and the sentiment (cut with Spellbinders) was stamped with Studio G peg stamps I found in the $1.00 bin at a local craft chain. I also added touches of chalk in various areas to give more depth.

Now you have one week to join in on the fun and upload your project to Dude Time Doodles. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Happy 2012! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a happy and fun New Year. This is Francesca from Paper Makeup Stamps and she's already to begin the new year with a martini and dancing. She's also ushering in the Digi Makeover Challenge for this week and it's a sketch challenge.

I tried a new technique for the background of the card and it's super easy and fun to do. I read about the idea here (thanks Stacey!). I changed up her directions just slightly, but the basics are the same. I inked up an older background rubber stamp (from Cornish Heritage Farms) with Versamark and stamped it onto glossy paper. Next, I chose Various reinkers (Copic refills) in the same colors that I used for Francesca's dress and pounced and swirled (tumbled glass technique) until I was happy with it. The Versamark acts as a resist and stays white. If you look closely, you can see bits of the tiny flowers and vines peeking through here and there. It's very subtle, but such a fun way to make your own backgrounds. I did the same technique on the borders, but it's especially hard to capture it on the photo in the lighter pink. The borders are a Heartfelt Creations die (made by Spellbinders) that has two different cuts on either edge and I just alternated which edge went where.

Rupert from Stamping Dragon Designs is here to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

He's colored with Copic markers and fussy cut out. The background is a new die from Die-Versions and can be used in a variety of ways. I thought it was perfect for Rupert's countdown to 2012! After cutting out the collage, I sprayed it with Smooch Spritz (gingersnap) for lots of added shimmer and sparkle.

This was a fun card to make, although it was hard to photograph well. I used a Dreamweaver's stencil and ran it through my Big Shot to emboss the cardstock. I left the stencil taped to the cardstock and used Pan Pastels to color the image - greens fading to blues. After taking the stencil off, I ran a paper towel through the Pan Pastel and swiped it across the paper to shade the background.

Since the card base is black, I also wanted to do something on the inside so I could write a message. I used the same papers and cut them out with LifeStyle Crafts dies and added a piece of the same silk ribbon to the inside that is on the front.

I am pleased to bring you the final freebie from Bonibleaux Designs and Dude Time Doodles. The image is called "With You a Merry Chrithmus" and features one of the Hillbilly gang. He's available for a short time only for free on the challenge blog. After that, he will be available in the store. So add him to your collection while you can.

As you can see, he found his Christmas present early, imbibed too much, then opened his wife's present of pink bubble bath and, as they say, the rest is history. I just hope he didn't use all of her bubbles, or he really will be in hot water!

I printed the image twice so I cut fussy cut it out and added pop dots to the wash tub and the bottom of the moonshine jug for added dimension. The background is colored with chalk and I added glossy accents to a few of the bubbles. The tree is an older die (Christmas Tree #2) from Sizzix and the papers are all Echo Park. Spellbinders dies (Grand Labels Eleven #4) were used to make the card base and the inside mat (Labels Eleven #6). For the inside, I cropped the image and enlarged the moonshine jug and printed it twice and colored these, as well as the main image, with Copics. The sentiment is cut with a micro font die from Die-Versions.

This image will be available at Dude Time Doodles for a few hours starting sometime today. If it's not there when you first check, be sure to check back a bit later so you can grab him for yourself. Once the opportunity to get him for free passes, you can still grab him from the store.

Let It Snow with Rupert

This is the last challenge of the year for Stamping with the Dragon as everyone gets the last week off to celebrate the holidays with their families. Stamping Dragon Designs is the sponsor and the theme is Let It Snow. Show us your projects that has anything dealing with snow. It's also a bittersweet post for me as this will also be my last official post as one of the design team members. But you'll still see Rupert and all his friends here from time to time because he's the cutest dragon ever!

The image I chose is Snowfight and Rupert is having a blast playing in the snow and having a snowball fight. Maybe Jiggy and Penny have ganged up on him. Rupert is colored with Copic markers and I printed the image twice so I could fussy cut the head and pop dot it for more dimension. I also used a Snow Writer for the snow and snow balls. Both the sentiment and background papers are from Create with TLC. The card base was cut with my Spellbinder's Grand Ovals #3 (assumes #1 is the smallest die in the set) and I added snowflake ribbon all along the back of the card. The sentiment is a Tim Holtz rubber stamp from Stampers Anonymous. The background was created with a large backgrounder stamp (manufacturer unknown).

It's the third Wednesday of the month (my how time flies) and that means it's time for the Inspiration Challenge from Dude Time Doodles.

Now I must admit, that my inspiration isn't exactly a movie, but a classic cartoon: Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. I've chosen Abner Abominable from Bonibleaux Designs as he reminds me of the Abominable Snowman from the cartoon (but after he had his tooth pulled!).

I tried to recreate the look of the inside of Abner's cave by using Tim Holtz's Kraft Glassine paper and designing an easel card. I added a touch of Perfect Pearl (mint) to the "walls" for a bit of shimmer. Abner is ready for the party to start and is already showing his Christmas spirit by hanging Christmas lights all around. The sentiment is an older rubber stamp from Unity. Abner is colored with Copic markers and the cave wall was created with the Creative Book Pages die from Spellbinders.

The new Digi Makeover Challenge #16 begins today and for those of you still making Christmas cards (me included), this one should be pretty easy. It's a color challenge, and although the colors (dark green, light green, red, silver) are fairly traditional for Christmas, your card doesn't have to be a Christmas card.

I chose Duncan from Paper Makeup Stamps for this challenge because everyone loves getting cookies, especially at Christmas time. Duncan's about to deliver some sugar cookies hot from the oven to his monster pals. He's colored with Copic markers and fussy cut out. The cookies have a touch of Rock Candy Distress Stickles on them so they instantly became sugar cookies with extra sugar on top (yum). The tree, cut from glossy paper, is a die (Christmas Tree #2) from Sizzix that I've had for a number of years and I used Distress Stains to color it. The silver background paper with the snowflakes is actually Christmas wrapping paper that I had. (I love using non traditional stuff on my cards, don't you?) The only draw back to using this shiny silver paper is that it was difficult for me to photograph it well. It does look very nice in person, if I do say so myself :-) .

As you can see, I didn't make a card this time; it's more of an easel so it could be left on the recipient's desk top. The sentiment is a rubber stamp from Serendipity and is stamped with Distress Inks (Broken China) and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Yoo Hoo Presents

Who wouldn't want to get presents from this cute little guy? Yoo Hoo Presents from Stamping Dragon Designs is all decked out in his Santa hat and is ready to start handing out the goodies he brought. Hope you get what you wanted.

Copic markers were used to color this image, liquid applique was used on the hat, and Smooch Pearlized inks were used for the ornaments. The paper is from Echo Park.

Season's Greetings

The new AiFactory Challenge is here and the theme is Christmas (easy, easy). For this challenge, each design team member was given the Season's Greeting Christmas Graphic clipart to play with from AiFactory.

Clip art makes completing cards super quick and easy. But just because you are using pre-colored images doesn't mean you can't add a little something to make it your own. And that's exactly what I did. I combined five of the images and printed several of them twice so I could pop dot them for added dimension. I also added Spica glitter pens to each of the images for added bling. The background was colored a light cream color from Paper Soft Colors (although it's hard to see it in the photo). I added a quick sticker to the inside and finished another Christmas card in record time.

Color Kid - Snowflake

The Digi Makeover Challenge is challenging you to include paper piecing on your project. I created two tags using Paper Makeup Stamps' digital image of Color Kid Snowflake.

I printed the image several times - twice on plain cardstock and then on the different patterned papers I wanted to use for her outfit. Both images are colored with Copic markers and fussy cut out after assembly. I added glossy accents to the shoes for a patent leather look.

For the tag, I used a version of the Sanded Color Block technique (you can see it on my post here and find the instructions here.) This time around, I didn't color block though. The sentiments are cut with the Primo Labels die by Memory Box. The sentiment on the left comes with this Color Kid image and the sentiment on the right comes with the Hayden Fairy digital download.

The Digi Makeover Challenge rules are pretty simple: you must use a digital image and follow the challenge as outlined. For specific details, visit the challenge blog. Sanded Color Block technique

Edited: My card won the challenge

I had a little time today to play with my rubber stamps, plus I wanted to participate in the Blockheads Paper Arts technique challenge blog hop which ends Saturday. The technique is the Sanded Color Block with Distress Stains technique and you can find the directions here.

It's a pretty easy technique to do, but my thumbs wouldn't allow me to place as much pressure as I would have liked on the bone folder to burnish the image into the glossy paper. The embossing was easier to see before I stamped my final image. Next time I think I'll use a smaller, or partial, image. Always learning :-) .

You can see the embossing better in the second photo. Both the image (Just Believe) and the ticket stub (Odds and Ends) are from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous and the embossing folder was Snow Flurries from Sizzix/Tim Holtz. The Distress Stains used were Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire, Fired Brick, Wild Honey, Dusty Concord.

I'll have another project coming up Monday where I used the same sanding/embossing technique (but I didn't color block) and the results are a little cleared since the image doesn't cover the entire area.

Cheery Lights Mailbox

It's time for another fun challenge from Stamping with the Dragon. Our sponsor is Meljen's Designs and the theme is Bling it Christmas. We want you to show us your Christmas Bling. The winner will receive four images from Meljen's store.

I chose the Cheery Lights Mailbox to create a fun winter/Christmas card. Since the theme is Bling it Christmas, I chose a slightly different way to show lots of bling: I used Creative Inspirations paints and Twinkling H2O's. Both have so much bling and sparkle in person and are so fun to use. I also used a Snow Writer (thanks Tammy) for the snow and added bits of glitter to it while it was still wet.

Here's a close-up so you can see what I'm talking about. If you follow my blog, you know that I describe Creative Inspirations paints as "bling in a bottle" and it's so true! And Twinkling H2O's live up to their name - they really do twinkle.

The background was created by using a Cheery Lynn Designs die. I've found that I can emboss with these dies by using my embossing plate and mat with my Grand Calibur machine. How fun is that? Two for the price of one. I don't know if this works with other die manufacturers, but luckily, these have not cut my embossing mat when I run them through. (What a great discovery.)

Holiday Spirit(s)

It's time for the first Wednesday Dude Time Doodles challenge and it's a fun one. The theme is to show us your holiday spirit.

Well, what better way to show your spirit than with spirits? Santa loves stopping at our house because he gets something other than milk and cookies to help fortify his trip around the globe. I chose to make a Christmas tag with a portion of the O' Christmas Tree image to make sure Santa knows he can carry the rest of the bottle with him.

Moody for Coffee

Since today is Monday, that means it's time for the new Digi Makeover Challenge and this week's challenge is one of my favorite things to do: fussy cutting.

Moody for Coffee from Paper Makeup Stamps was a perfect choice for fussy cutting. As usual, she's colored with Copic markers. The background was created with a Dreamweaver's stencil that I've had for a long time and Paper Soft Colors. First, I ran the stencil and cardstock through my Big Shot to emboss the image. (I didn't know you could do this and was just playing around. Yea - a happy accident.) Next, I used Magenta Paper Soft Colors and pounced the raised area (keeping the stencil in place) and finally, went over the entire area with the same color.

I then matted this onto an orange piece of cardstock which I embossed with a Sizzix Texture Plate (Mummy Stripes). I must say, this is so vibrant and looks great in person. I added several gems to complete the card.

Christmas Window

For this week's Stamping with the Dragon inspiration, I incorporated three different images from Stamping Dragon Designs: Christmas Window, Oh Christmas Tree, and Christmas 1 Sentiment pack into my design. One of the things I really love about digital images is the ability to re-size them as needed and that's exactly what I did with the Christmas tree. I needed it pretty small so the cats (and you) could see it through the window. The "wall" behind the tree was created using my new Paper Soft Colors (I'm really liking them to create backgrounds).

As you can tell from these photos, I printed the image a couple different times and fussy cut out the cats, the garland, and the frame separately so I could add lots of dimension to it. I really wanted it to look like a window frame where the cats are sitting on the window sill looking in at all the wonderful Christmas decorations.

The sentiment is part of a set and is die cut with Spellbinders and distressed with a bit of Distress Inks. The papers are by Echo Park and Making Memories.

Christmas Birdies

Are you ready for the new AiFactory Challenge? The theme for is Something Red and you have two weeks to upload your red creation to the AiF challenge blog. For this challenge, each design team member used this Christmas Birdies image from AiFactory.

I colored this cutie with Copic markers and added a bit of Spica glitter pen to the holly leaves along with a few gems for my berries. The image was completed using a Pearl Pen (gold) for the chain and Spellbinders (deckled mega rectangles, lg #4) to cut the image out. I also finished the inside, so all that's left is add a quick message and sign it. Yea - one more Christmas card completed.

This should be an easy challenge as red is a traditional Christmas color (but you don't have to make a Christmas card if you don't want to). Also mark you calendars - the AiFactory challenges will be on Wednesdays going forward. Therefore, you need to get your project uploaded by 12/13/11. I can't wait to see what you make with my favorite color.

Fanny Ski Bum

Wrapped with Love

Are you ready for a sketch challenge? That's what we've got for you from the Digi Makeover Challenge this week. The Color Kid, Gift Wrapper from Paper Makeup Stamps' November digi release, was my inspiration for this challenge and she's colored with Copic markers and cut out with Spellbinder's (Large Labels #4). The scalloped card base as well as the background paper was die cut using Lifestyle Crafts Scalloped Squares (#10, #11). Smooch Pearlized ink (siren) was used on the heart in the sentiment, which comes with the image.

Holiday Topiary

Welcome to Challenge #34 for Pattie's Creations Design Challenge. The theme is Christmas and I had a very hard time deciding which image I wanted to use from her store. I finally decided to use the Holly Topiary because I had a flash of creativity when I saw it - to make the topiary rounded, just like it would be in real life. In order to do that, I printed the image several times (at first I thought I would cut out each individual leaf). Thankfully, I had a better idea. After coloring and cutting out the entire top portion (as opposed to individual leaves), I used one of my old fondant cake decorating tools to round the entire piece from the underside. It curled just the way I envisioned. Don't you love it when a plan comes together? Now to adhere it to the original image without messing it up. Out came my tallest pop dots, but it still wasn't tall enough for me. So I added a second layer of pop dots - just what I was looking for.

The image is colored with Copic markers with touches of Spica glitter pens on the holly berries and cut with Grand Labels Four (#1, 2) from Spellbinders and attached to Echo Park papers. The image looked so good all by itself, that I didn't want to add anything else to it. Hope you think so too.

This Christmas challenge will run for three weeks, so you'll have plenty of time to upload your creations to Pattie's Creations challenge blog. Then get ready for a fun blog hop starting Dec 16. Check out all the awesome creations from the rest of the design team too.

Everyone on the design team was given Patches to play with and let me tell you, every one of us came up with something different. You'll definitely want to check them all out.

All the papers that I used to create my card are from Echo Park, but not all are from the same collection. After printing and coloring Patches with Copic markers and glossy accents on the ornament, I fussy cut him out so I could adhere him on my Spellbinder's ornament. I also used just a touch of Smooch pearlized ink (gold lame) for the ornament top. As some of you know, I don't like to throw anything out. The "Merry Christmas" sentiment is a perfect example. It's actually the name of the paper collection on the tag that everyone cuts off at the bottom of each sheet. It was the perfect size, so I cut it out and pop dotted it onto my ornament. I used a brad to attach the ornament to my velvet ribbon and let it hang naturally (so it can swing just like a real ornament. At least it won't break if it hits the ground.). For the inside of the card, I cut out a smaller Spellbinder's ornament to add a written note.

Christmas Church

Since I had the week off from a couple of my design teams, I've had more of a chance to play around and participate in some other challenges. Today's card is actually made from a rubber stamp (it's been awhile since I've used any) from Rubber Cottage and the sentiment is a rubber stamp from Memory Box.

I stamped my image in white onto black paper and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. One other thing I did was dip my finger in some white embossing powder and lightly sprinkle it over the black to simulate snow falling. After cutting out my snowflakes with a Creative Memories punch, I also heat embossed them with a mixture I created consisting of clear embossing powder and glitter. It's really hard to tell in the photo, but they really shimmer and sparkle in the light. This is a close up of one so you can get the idea. The green branches are my touch of color and are from the Branches punch by Martha Stewart. The image is cut using Labels Ten from Spellbinders and adhered to a piece of black chipboard, also cut with Labels Ten.

Christmas Stocking

I must say right off the bat that this card was a labor of love, but I'm really happy with the way it turned out. This Vintage Christmas Stocking from Pattie's Creations could be embellished and brought to life in lots of ways, but I chose to paper piece the entire thing. It wasn't hard, just a bit time consuming - making sure I was gluing the correct (small) piece to the proper area.

After all my pieces were in place, I added Perfect Pearls to each intersection and real jingle bells. I also pop dotted it from the background. I tried to add a few other embellishments to it, but I decided that everything else detracted from the image, which is gorgeous even in black and white.

I did use a couple of Copic markers to color the holly leaves in (G16, G19, G28) and added ruby colored gems for the berries. Be sure to check back Friday for the next Pattie's Creations Challenge. It's going to be a fun one (and easy).

Monday, Monday and that means it's time for a new Digi Makeover Challenge. The challenge this week is a color challenge:

The rules are pretty simple and are in detail at the challenge blog, but the main ones are that you must use a digi, you need to follow the challenge as stated, and you should have fun. You don't have to use a Paper Makeup Stamps digi, but you get extra prizes if you do.

Since one of my other favorite things to do (besides making cards) is to read, I choose the Moody for Reading digi image for this color challenge. Wonder what book she's reading today? She's colored with Copic markers with touches of Smooch Pearlized ink on her jacket and hat and Spica glitter pens for accents.

Cracked Glass - Lily

Today I wanted to share with you not only a beautiful and versatile image called Lily Sympathy from Stamping Dragons Designs, but also a tutorial on a technique I read about a couple years ago called the cracked glass technique. (I'm sure if you Google it, you can come up with all kinds of You Tube videos as well.) First off, let me say that I think this image is good for all occasions, not just as a sympathy card. That's why I didn't put a sympathy sentiment with it.

The items you will need to complete this technique are a colored image of your choice, Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE), VersaMark, heat tool, and a freezer.

Here is my lily after coloring it with Copic markers. The background was made by first applying a pink shade and then lightly going over that with a lavender shade. I wanted parts of the pink to peak through.

After you've colored your image and you are happy with it, the next step is to apply the VersaMark to your image. Make sure it is fully covered. Next, begin applying the ultra thick embossing powder all over. (You will eventually apply three layers of the UTEE.) Once it's covered, you are ready to heat it. The easiest way I found to do this was to place the UTEE covered image in a shoe box top. That way, you can easily heat it up without having to touch any part of it. Using your heat tool, thoroughly heat the embossing powder until it's completely melted. While it's still HOT, pour a second coat of UTEE over it. (I had left the image in my box top when I poured the second coat over it. Once its completely covered again with UTEE, you can take the time to put the excess UTEE back in the container.) Reheat again until it's completely melted. While it's still HOT, pour the UTEE over it for a third coat and heat completely.

It should look like smooth glass at this point, as seen here in the photo on the left. If you like this look, you can stop right here and begin assembling your card.

To continue to the next step, just place this in your freezer for about five minutes. Don't worry if it curls; you want it to and it should look something like the photo on the right.

Take it in your hands and start to straighten the image back out by bending it slightly backwards. It will start to crack where you are bending it. If it doesn't start cracking (you'll definitely hear it popping), just put it back in the freezer for a couple more minutes. It should resemble this:

If you don't like the way it turned out, don't worry. You can fix it by reheating it and melting the UTEE all over again. Put it back in the freezer and try again. One final step you could do, but I chose not to, is to slightly distress it by using a sponge dauber and a vintage brown ink to highlight the cracks more. Rub the excess ink off with a cloth. Again, I chose not to do this because I was happy with the results without the distressing. Here is a close up of the assembled card.

For my assembly, first I mounted my image on black cardstock. I created my background using a Cheery Lynn Designs lattice frame die and Core'dinations papers, which I sanded to bring out the peach. The purple strip along the side was created by blending in two different shades of Paper Soft Colors to bring out the lavender in my image. The scalloped border along the right side was created using the Grand 12" scallop Border by Spellbinders. The peach base is the other side of the Core'dinations paper.

I've chosen holidays and am using Fanny Thanks to create a mini album (from a Maya Road chipboard album I've had for quite a while) for all those fun holiday photos that revolve around eating (you know, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter). All the papers are Graphic 45 (Domestic Goddess) and everything is paper pieced except for Fanny's hair, skin and the turkey, which are colored with Copic markers. The oval frame is from Cheery Lynn Designs. The rose was created with G-45 paper and the Rose Creations dies from Spellbinders.

Autumn Flowers

This week's challenge from the Digi Makeover Challenge is to make your own digi background.

I used a couple different images from the Color It Autumn digi set from Paper Makeup Stamps to make the background, changing the size as needed. The sentiment was a Freebie Friday from Paper Makeup Stamps. After combining the two images on my computer and printing it out, I also highlighted the sentiment with a Spica glitter pen so it would stand out more.

In addition to creating a digi background, I also created my mat using the Burble/Cheesecloth embossing plate from Cheery Lynn Designs. After running it through my machine, I distressed it with Broken Twigs Distress Ink. I added a leaf embellishment and paper floss for a touch of color. Here's a quick tip on wrapping your ribbon or twine around the card without it going over the back: punch a small hole in the card's fold at the top and thread your twine through and tie it like you normally would.

Cake Makes Everything Better!

Happy Friday everyone (OK, Thursday evening since the dt posts challenges to go live England time). So that means it's time for a new challenge at Stamping with the Dragon. The theme of our challenge is FOOD and our sponsor is none other than Bugaboo Stamps.

For my card today, I tried out Paper Soft Colors by Viva Decor to create my background as well as inking in the sentiment. I must say, they blend really well - it just took a little longer than Distress Inks to get the look I was going for. Just worked with it a tad bit longer is all, but I do like them. They are oil based, so the instructions say to let dry for about 30 minutes and you do need a designated sponge with each color. I tried a few different types of sponges and think I like a sponge dauber the best (although I haven't tried the sponge recommended by Viva Decor since I wanted to see if I could use what I already have on hand before buying something else). I feel that I have better control over it than when I used a cosmetic sponge or the Ranger Ink Blending Tool and foam pads.

A couple quick details about the card: the image is colored with Copic markers; the sentiment is cut with Scrap-Mart's Label 1 die (#4) and is from Create with TLC; the left edge was cut with Memory Box's Sanibel Border. On a side note, the purples in the image match the background really well, but turned out bluish in the photos.

Duck - Snowball Warrior

It's the second Wednesday of the month and that means it's time for the Guest Design Team Challenge and a freebie from Dude Time Doodles. Head straight over to the Dude Time Doodles Challenge Blog to pick up your own Snowball Warrior, use him for something fun and creative, and upload him for your chance to be a gdt. You won't be disappointed!

For my card, I used the out of the box technique and a new Sizzix Framelits (Scallop Oval) to cut out this cutie. I was going for a night sky and used Copic markers for the sky and for the image. Liquid applique was used to give the snow balls dimension and to make the snow flakes. The sentiment is from Create with TLC and I added a couple snowflake stickers where the brads go.

On the inside, I created the second part of the sentiment on my computer, cut it out with Lifestyle Crafts Nested Scallop Ovals #3 and shaded with a Copic marker. The snowflake border is from Memory Box and I embossed both the border as well as the stack of snow balls on the inside of the card with glittery embossing powder that I made myself. (I combined glitter with a jar of clear embossing powder and I love the effect.) You can see it really well on the close up of the snowballs, but I couldn't capture a good picture of the snow flake border (but it looks just like the snow balls - lots of sparkle).

Fancy a Mug for Two?

Now for my coffee mug shaped card, I downloaded some clip art (making sure I had enough room on the paper to double the image), scored at the handle and cut out. I thought it was the perfect shape for this cute little penguin wanting to share a cuppa, don't you agree? The cute sentiment comes with the image.

Everything is colored with Copic markers and his heart tattoo is colored with a Spica glitter pen (lipstick). I also highlighted the sentiment with Pitch Black Spica glitter pen.

Autumn Leaves

Today I'm featuring the Autumn Leaves, Decoupage from Stamping Dragon Designs. This is a set of pre-colored leaves that you print, cut out, and layer on top of one another. I printed the design out twice, so I could frame the place card I made. I added a touch of Wild Honey Distress Inks to the image so it wouldn't be so bright and a bit of Chocolate Spica glitter pen to the leaf veins for sparkle. The vellum sentiment is one that I've had in my stash for a long time. The base of the place card was embossed with a Cheery Lynn Designs double sided embossing plate. This is the first embossing plate I've purchased from them, but it definitely won't be the last. The impression it makes in the paper is amazing! I definitely want to play with these a lot more.

Stuffed Sammy

Today's Wednesday challenge from Dude Time Doodles is:

Sammy Scarecrow, from Bonibleaux Designs, is stuffed. I don't know if it's from the turkey he's been eating or from the straw, but he's a happy camper. I think he fits either the Thanksgiving or Stay @ Home category. Sammy's colored with Copic markers and is cut out with Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Scallop Ovals (as is the mat behind him). The 6x6 card matting is cut with the Rick Rack Square dies from Lifestyle Crafts. "Stuffed" is one of the many fun sentiments from Create with TLC.

Remember your project needs to be for a Dude. You don't have to use an image from Bonibleaux Designs, but it would be great if yo did. You have until Tuesday, 11/8/11 to link up your creation. Don't forget to check out all the other Dude and Dudette creations this week.

Moody Girl Rocks!

It's Monday, so that means it's time for a new challenge at Paper Makeup Stamps: Digi Makeover. This week's challenge is a sketch and I followed it pretty closely.

I chose one of the Moody Girls - Moody for Rock from Paper Makeup Stamps and colored her with Copic markers with Smooch pearlized ink (Illuminate) for highlights. Distress Inks (Worn Lipstick) was used on the edge and to stipple in the background. All of the papers are from Doodlebug Designs, Inc. and the pink paper is die cut using Memory Box's Piestra Tile die. I accented portions of the orange and pink papers with Viva Decor Pearl Pens. The sentiment is a rubber stamp from Unity Stamps that I've had for quite a while.

Boo-Hoo-licious Blog Hop

Welcome to the Boo-Hoo-Licious Blog Hop. Hopefully, you came from Sandi, if not you can start here at Liz's blog. She's our host of this fantastic blog hop.

For today's easel card, I used a digital image from Bonibleaux Designs and printed him out several times so I could add lots of dimension (as you can see in the photo on the left). Eyegor is colored with Copic markers with touches of a Spica glitter pen for accents (melon).

The mat is cut with the Baroque die from Sizzix and all the papers are from Memory Box. The sentiment is from Create with TLC and thought it would be perfect since Eyegor is perched on top of a pumpkin.

When you open the inside of the easel card, you find out why he's perched on top of the pumpkin! This really cool spider web is a rubber stamp (manufacturer unknown) that was stamped with Creative Inspirations paint (Winter Frost). It looks just like a translucent spider web in real life. I really love the way this turned out - if I do say so myself :-).

Indian Princess

Are you ready for a new Pattie's Creations challenge? The theme for challenge #32 is Halloween or Autumn colors. I chose Indian Princess Pattiboop from Pattie's Esty shop and used fall colors. Copics were used to color the image.

After die cutting the image with a Spellbinders large deckled rectangle (#5), the background was created by sponging Distress Inks (Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, Barn Door, Gathering Twig) onto the cardstock (after masking the image). I was going for a sunset look and that got me to thinking about Native American Dream Catchers. So I decided to make my own version using the Mega Italian Flourish die from Cherry Lynn Designs. I added a couple feathers that were in my sash and some ribbon and I'm all ready to catch some wonderful dreams.

Jiggy Leaves

It's time for a new challenge at Stamping with the Dragon and the theme is Fun Things to do in the Fall. Our sponsor is Stamping Dragon Designs and the winner will get to choose four images of your choice. For this challenge, the design team will be showcasing digital images from one of the October Grab Bags. So when you visit the store, be sure to check out all the grab bags, as they are on sale for $3.00 (normally $9.00). I've chosen Jiggy Leaves because kids young and old love jumping and playing in a pile of leaves.

Jiggy is colored with Copic markers and his wings, horns and nails are accented with Smooch pearlized ink (Illuminate). The sentiment is also colored with Copics and is from Create with TLC. I chose some fabric that's in my ever-growing stash for the background because the colors matched perfectly and a bit of suede ribbon for accents. The card base was cut with a Sizzix die.

Time for a color challenge from Paper Makeup Stamps' Digi Makeover Challenge. I incorporated all the colors, plus purple. Seems like I've been on a purple kick lately.

Argus is colored with Copic markers and buttons were added for eyes to his extremely well-loved teddy bear. (Even though he's not in the digi section, just send a quick note. Most of the images can be purchased in the digital format.) I added hand stitching to both the outside and inside of the card because poor teddy looks like he could use a little more thread here and there.

Sam the Vamp

Sam the Vamp 2 is one of the new releases for Halloween from Stamping Dragon Designs. The background on this easel card was created using PanPastels and Sam is colored with Copic markers. This was a pretty quick and easy easel card to make. I added a touch of Glossy Accent to the glasses and to the bat highlighted by the moon. It's hard to tell in the photo, but it gives it a more dimensional look.

Ahoy Matey Matt

Dude Time Doodles Inspiration Challenge is here and we're still thinking pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Here's a look at the inspiration board:

I decided Ahoy Matey Matt was the perfect spokesperson for this challenge and he's all dolled up in his pinkest finery to show his support. Creative Inspirations paints were used to highlight his gold earring, silver and gold sword, and his silver mug. Copic markers were used to color in the rest of the image. Spellbinders Labels Two was used to cut out the image. You can really see the shimmer from the CI paints on this photo:

You can also see the brads here well too. As pink isn't one of my favorite colors, I don't have a lot of pink embellishments laying around. So I decided to make my own. I colored an ivory brad with a pink Copic marker and then embossed it with glittery embossing powder. I think they turned out pretty good. Don't you?

Spot - Lighting

Today's challenge at Paper Makeup Stamps' Digi Makeover Challenge it to spot light a portion of your card. I chose this image from the Guilty Pleasures - Food and Wine Set and my sentiment is from the Little Moments Sentiment Digi Set.

There are several different ways to spot light a portion of your card, but I decided to color in one area and color the rest of the image in sepia tones (I got the idea for sepia tones from Pat. She did a fantastic job.) Although this is my first try at it, I'm pretty pleased with the results. Here are a few tutorials for those not familiar with this technique:

The background was created by embossing my paper with Cheery Lynn Designs Lattice Circle Frame die. It's designed as a die that you cut with, but I think it did a pretty good job of just embossing. the border is the Sanibel border from Memory Box. The label was created using the new Frames & Sprigs die cut/stamp combo from Sizzix/Hero Arts. I cut the sentiment out using the smaller label die and adhered it to the larger stamped and die cut piece.
