Today is the beginning of the latest Scrapy Land Challenge. The theme for this bi-monthly challenge is Spots and Dots, Plus use any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells. You can check out all the manufacturers that Scrapy Land carries here.
The following dies were incorporated into this birthday card:
~ Spellbinders (Opulent Ovals),
~ Sue Wilson Designs (California Collection: Beverly Hills)
~ Sue Wilson Designs (Finishing Touches: Dotty 3D Bow)
~ Sue Wilson Designs (Finishing Touches: Classic Bow)
~ Die-Namics (Four Corners)
~ Die-Versions (Happy Sweet Wordlet
~ Die-Versions (Birthday Sweet Wordlet)
I started out adding Pan Pastels (Pearlescent Yellow) to the white cardstock card base to create a soft, pearlescent background. Then I die cut the Beverly Hills die. This die cuts out the negative areas of a frame, but does not cut an outer or inner edge.
After die cutting the Opulent Oval from white cardstock, I cut out the words "Happy" and "Birthday" from the center of the oval. I saved my negative pieces and added them back to the individual letters with adhesive tape. Sunny Daze glitter was added to the rest of the exposed adhesive, creating a sparkly sentiment. This was then centered on top of the previously die cut area.
The bow was a two part process: die cutting the base as well as die cutting the overlay. The base was cut from cardstock covered with a piece of Super Adhesive Sheet. Before adding more Sunny Daze glitter to the bow base, I adhered the Dotty 3D bow onto the adhesive and then covered the remaining adhesive with the glitter. My Four Corners die cuts were die cut from white copy paper as I wanted it to be thin, but not transparent.
So, my spots are covering the bow and my dots come from the negative spaced die cut from the Sue Wilson die. There are lots of ways to incorporate Spots and Dots into your project. For lots of great inspiration, be sure to check out the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog to see what the rest of the team created for this challenge.
