Hello Foxy

Products used:
Hello Foxy rubber stamp set
Gecko microfine glitter
Clear Detail embossing powder
Crafter's Companion embossing folder (Leaf Vein)
Tonic Studios die (Ribbon and Bows Layering die set)
Lawn Fawn die (Magic Slider die set)
Nuvo Embellishment Mousse (Cornflower Blue; Spring Green)
Nuvo Hybrid Ink (Safari Green)
VersaMark
Super Adhesive Sheet
Marshmallows 3
Tim Holtz Stamp Platform
Tangerine Die Cutting Machine

This mixed media card using Hello Foxy from Sparkle N Sprinkle was really fun to make.  I started out by stamping my images using the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform, coloring them with Copic markers, and fussy cutting each image out.  I really wanted to bring out the reds in their coats and add a bit of texture as well.  So I added VersaMark and heat set each image with Clear Detail embossing powder.

For the background, I die cut white cardstock using the Tonic Studios Ribbon and Bows layering die set.  After die cutting the cardstock, I ran it through my Tangerine die cutting machine (💟💟💟 this machine!!!) with a Crafter's Companion embossing folder (Leaf Vein) and added color to the raised portions with Nuvo Embellishment Mousse (Cornflower Blue and Spring Green) using a Marshmallow sponge.

The next step was to die cut a piece of Super Adhesive Sheet using the same die as before but with out the cut-out insert.  I then adhered the dry embossed/moussed die cut on top of the Super Adhesive Sheet and covered the remaining adhesive with Gecko microfine glitter.

For the card base, I used a little trick as there wasn't a larger size die.  I die cut the green cardstock, cut it in half, and then adhered the pieces on either end to give the illusion of a complete mat.

The sentiment was stamped onto a negative piece from the Lawn Fawn Magic Color Slider die set.  I used the Safari Green Nuvo Hybrid Ink Pad to stamp my sentiment.  The ink stays "wet" long enough to emboss it, so I added Clear Detail embossing powder on top and heat set it.  I also inked up the edge of the heart with some Cornflower Blue Nuvo Embellishment Mousse.

I think this set is so versatile. This card would be a great masculine valentine using non-traditional colors.  It would also be great for an anniversary or thank you card.

Industrial Chic Birthday {Scrapy land Challenge #82}

It's time for a new Scrapy Land Challenge.  The theme is always Anything Goes using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.

I also wanted to let everyone know that Scrapy Land is having a Design Team Call!!  If you're interested in being a part of this fun group, you can check out the details here: DT CALL.

For this week's challenge, I needed a masculine birthday card and I wanted to try creating a faux rust look.  So the two ideas came together in this birthday card.

I started out by die cutting the Sue Wilson Designs Industrial Chic Background die from white cardstock.  I've seen various tutorials on how to create "rust" using acrylic paints, but I wanted to try and do it with ink pads.  I brought out a few of my Memento ink pads (Rich Cocoa, Potter's Clay, and Desert Sand).  I began with the Rich Cocoa using the direct-to-paper method.  Next I added spots of Potter's Clay.  I kept going back and forth between the Rich Cocoa and the Potter's Clay until most of the white cardstock was covered.  As a final touch, I blended everything together with the Desert Sand.

I used the same process on another piece on another piece of white cardstock and then die cut the Sprockets from Taylored ExpressionsHere are some other options as well.

In order to give the "rust spots" the dimension that it would have in real life, I added some glue to various areas and then covered it with ground cinnamon (just as I would if it were embossing powder or glitter).  I placed the excess cinnamon back in my newly designated "cinnamon craft jar" for future use.  Not only did it give the added texture I was looking for, it smelled pretty good too. 😃

The sentiment is a Tonic Studios die (Retro Birthday).  It was die cut from the same cream colored cardstock as the card base. Other birthday options are here.

Now it's your turn to play along with us.  You have until Feb 4 to join in on the fun and have a chance to win one of two $10 gift certificates to Scrapy Land.

Don't forget about the Scrapy Land DT Call.  The Call closes on Jan 28, 2018.

Now for a bit about my project:

I started out by coloring Cara and Mouse Friend with Copic markers and die cutting using an old Spellbinders scalloped oval die.  Next I die cut a couple different Tonic Studios layering die sets. The Layered Rivoli layering die set was used to die cut the white cardstock and the blue patterned paper was die cut using the Decorative Rivoli layering die set.

I added Butterscotch microfine glitter to the yellow flowers on the image and to outline the decorative areas on the die cuts.  Ocean Breeze, Pink Fizz,  and Black Diamonds microfine glitters were also used to highlight the various flowers on the image.  Bubble Gum glitter accents the tiny mouse's cheeks and the inside of his ears.

The sentiment is part of the Roses In My Heart set and I used the Tim Holtz Stamping Platform to stamp this onto one of the smaller dies from the Tonic Studios die.  I stamped it several times with Memento ink (Summer Sky) in order to get it darker (I didn't have a reinker for this ink pad, so this was the best solution 😏).  I left the stamp in place, cleaned it off, and then added VersaMark and stamped it one last time.  Then I heat set the sentiment using Clear Detail embossing powder.  Butterscotch microfine glitter also accents the decorative areas on the die cut.

Your next stop on the blog hop is Chris and I know she has something fun for you too.  Be sure to leave a comment on each of the Designers' blogs for your chance to win a $20 Gift Certificate to the SNS store!

Magic Slider {Scrapy Land #81}

Happy 2018!!

It's a brand new year and a brand new Scrapy Land Challenge.  The theme is always Anything Goes using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.

Today I'd like to share a magic slider card with you.  I used the Lawn Fawn Magic Color Slider die set to create this quick and easy card.  Most people thing color slider cards are hard to do and require that you use stamps.  This card shows you that you can still create a fabulous card only using dies.

As you begin to pull the slider up, it reveals the color below:

Once the slider is all the way up, you reveal the entire message:

For the inside panel, I colored the heart area with Distress Inks and Oxides and die cut my sentiment from the Die-Versions I Love You Sweet Wordlet.

As you can see, I've begun my Valentines cards.  This was super quick to create and if you're not really into coloring images, a great way to use this fun die.

You have until Jan 14th to play along with us for the Scrapy Land Challenge.  You could be one of two winners chosen to receive a $10 gift certificate to go shopping at Scrapy Land.  Be sure to check out what the rest of the team has created for your inspiration as well.
