Hey Y'all Mixed Media Tag {Scrapy Land #109}

Hey Y'all, it's the first Wednesday of the month and that means it's time for a brand new Scrapy Land Challenge.  The theme is always Anything Goes using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.

Today I'd like to share a mixed media tag/card and the following dies were used to create this tag:

Elizabeth Craft Designs: Planner Patterns
Sue Wilson Designs: Floral Collection-Layered Loops
Frantic Stamper: Hey Y'all

In addition to the dies, lots of embossing powders, washi tape, vintage book pages, Nuvo Embellishment Mousse, Nuvo Mica Mists, and Distress Inks were added to the tag.  I just kept adding and adding until I was happy with the results.  I even added a few of the negative pieces from the Planner Patterns die cut.  That's the beauty of a mixed media project - you can just keep adding various mediums to create something uniquely yours!

Once everything was adhered to the tag, I added the completed tag to the card base.  Now I have plenty of room on the inside to add my message to the recipient.

Scrapy Land is also having a new Design Team Call.  You can find out all the details here.  Looking forward to seeing all your amazing projects.  Best of luck to everyone who is interested in joining our team!

Now it's your turn😀.  You have until March 17th to play along with the Scrapy Land Challenge #109 and have a chance to win one of two $10 gift certificates from Scrapy Land.  We can't wait to see what you create!

Hello {Scrapy Land #90}

Hey everyone, it's time for a brand new Scrapy Land Challenge!  The theme is always Anything Goes using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells and there are two winners chosen.  Both of the winners will receive a $10 gift certificate to Scrapy Land.

Dies used:
Sue Wilson Designs - Dandelion Clocks
Sue Wilson Designs - Noble Collection: Double Stitched Rectangles, Set B
Savvy Stamps - Hello  (Here are several other examples that would work just as well.)
Spellbinders - Labels Twenty Five (Any type of shaped label or frame die will work.)

For my card today, I started out by using the negative portion of a Spellbinders die cut.  This was spritzed with a Nuvo Mica Mist.

The backdrop for frame was created using Distress Oxides and Distress Inks along with a few Tim Holtz stencils.

The focal flowers are the Dandelion Clock dies by Sue Wilson Designs that were distressed with Oxides.

The focal point was then matted using one of the largest Double Stitched Rectangle dies.

You have until June 3 to join in on the fun at the Scrapy Land Challenge and for a chance to win one of two gift certificates.  Be sure to check out what the rest of the team has created for your inspiration.

The Gang's All Here

Hey everyone.  Today I have a fun birthday card using the Octopus exclusive die from Cheapo Dies and the Dotted Rectangle Set from the Unbranded section of Cheapo Dies.

To start off, I die cut the octopus three times from white cardstock and then I added color using Distress Ink and Distress Oxide (Fired Brick).

After die cutting the Dotted Rectangle, I spritzed it with Nuvo Mica Mists (Fresh Pear, Nebula Blue, Antique Gold).  The photo doesn't do justice to how shimmery this mica mist really is in person.

I only adhered the heads of the octopuses to the backdrop so that their legs could curl up and around.  Nuvo Glitter Drops (Midnight Sky) was added to their eyes.

The dark blue layer was dry embossed using an older Sizzix embossing folder (Swirls).  This was then adhered to the cardbase, which was also spritzed with the Mica Mists.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Design Team is creating for your inspiration on the Cheapo Dies Blog.

The Tassel

Today I'd like to share a card that is perfect for the newly graduating person in your life.  I used the Cheapo Dies exclusive die called Grad Cap and the scalloped/stitched circles are the Scallop Stitch Circles in the unbranded section.

Using the Scallop Stitch Circle set, I die cut a piece of patterned paper and a piece of blue cardstock.  I heat embossed the sentiment (which is from a rubber stamp set called Graduation Party Time) with Bracing Blue embossing powder.

I die cut the Grad Cap twice from black cardstock and saved the negative pieces.  I added a bit of gold to these negative pieces using a Nuvo Mica Mist  (Antique Gold) and then adhered the second outline die cut on top.

I cut off the tassel that is part of the die cut and added this one for an even more realistic look.

The card base was dry embossed using a Tonic Studios embossing folder (Simple Stripes).

Lovey Dovey

I've used the Dove Tag die from the exclusive line of Cheapo Dies for today's project.

I started out by die cutting from white cardstock and set that piece aside.  I saved the negative portion and spritzed it with Nuvo Mica Mist (Antique Gold).  The photos have a hard time capturing the shimmer and sparkle of this mica mist, but believe me, it's gorgeous in person.

For the card base, I added Distress Oxides (Wilted Violet, Wild Honey, Worn Lipstick) using a blending tool.  This was also spritzed with the Nuvo Mica Mist.

The photo above captures the glimmer a bit better.

After the base was finished, I pop dotted the frame created from the negative piece on top of the color background.  The focal die cut, which I left white, was then recessed into the center and adhered directly onto the card base.  A couple of stickers that are from my stash add the finishing touch to the card front.
