Hello {Scrapy Land #90}

Hey everyone, it's time for a brand new Scrapy Land Challenge!  The theme is always Anything Goes using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells and there are two winners chosen.  Both of the winners will receive a $10 gift certificate to Scrapy Land.

For my card today, I started out by using the negative portion of a Spellbinders die cut.  This was spritzed with a Nuvo Mica Mist.

The backdrop for frame was created using Distress Oxides and Distress Inks along with a few Tim Holtz stencils.

The focal flowers are the Dandelion Clock dies by Sue Wilson Designs that were distressed with Oxides.

The focal point was then matted using one of the largest Double Stitched Rectangle dies.

I needed a quick thank you type note card and I decided to do some inlay die cutting to give it a little more punch.

This really was quick and easy to make.  Start off by cutting you circle from patterned paper and then die cut the sentiment, I used a die from Savvy Stamps, in the center of the circle.  Be sure to save the little "extra" parts from the letters as you'll need to re-insert these later.  You can save the actual "hello" for a different project.  Die cut the sentiment again, this time from solid cardstock and insert it into the circle.  Here is a trick I use to adhere those little pieces back into the "e", "l", and "o".  I added regular tape to the back side of the circle, making sure that the open parts of the letters was covered with the tape.  Then I turned it back over to the front side the adhesive from the tape will let you stick those little pieces in where they belong.

On the inside of the card, I die cut the Vest Card from Die-Versions out of the same patterned paper.  I wanted it to look quilted, like a hunting vest would be.  So I dry embossed it using the Die-Versions Diamonds Background die.  I did the same technique to the front of the card as well.

Here is the vest opened.  I added a small strip at the bottom inside of the vest so I could tuck my note inside (without having to worry that it would fall out in transit).

I also added a strip (read "scrap") of the same patterned paper to the envelope for a coordinated note card look :-).

Core Cards Creative Frenzy

Core'dinations is having a design team call and these are the three projects I've made for this call, all using Core'dinations cardstock.

For the first card, I've incorporated Sizzix rolled roses (3D Flowers) and Spellbinders foliage.  The first step is to sand down the Core'dinations cardstock to reveal the pattern.  Deckle cut the bottom edge for added interest.   Next, cut out three rolled roses and assemble.  Add pearls or brads to the flower centers and spritz with Smooch Spritz for a bit of sparkle.  Adhere to the front of your card and add a sentiment on the inside.

For my second card, I chose Core'dinations swiss dots and sanded down the top 2/3s, leaving the bottom as is.  Die cut several Chevron stripes from My Favorite Things and arrange.  The sentiment is die cut from a die by Savvy Stamps.  A very quick, easy, and fun card to make.

My third card incorporates a digital image from Pattie's Creations and a rubber stamp sentiment from Our Craft Lounge.  The first thing you need to do is choose some Core'dinations cardstock that is double sided with different colors.  Sand down portions of the pattern, letting the underlying color show through.  Using a Memory Box border die (Sanibel border), die cut the edge of the card, allowing the color from the inside to show through.  Color the image (I used Copic markers) and fussy cut out.

Add your favorite ribbon, or dye seam binding ribbon to coordinate with your image.  If dying your own, choose the reinkers associated with the colors in your image.  Cut a length of seam binding ribbon and spritz fairly heavily with water.  Place in plastic bag and add a few drops of the reinkers.  Massage/manipulate the bag until the seam binding is dyed.  (I used BG05,  BG07 Various reinkers to dye my seam binding.)  Stamp your sentiment on coordinating cardstock and cut out using Primo Labels from Memory Box.  Adhere ribbon and sentiment, placing the sentiment underneath the ribbon.
