Feather Quill

The Feather die from Die-Versions is a good size, almost 5 1/2" long.  When I saw it, I was reminded of how people used to write with feathers, called a quill pen.  That's how this card came about.

I have an old clear stamp of a post card (from OTC stamps) and an ink bottle (by Just For Fun stamps) and thought these would be perfect for my die.  After die cutting the feather from white cardstock, I colored the feathers portion with Pink Champagne Spectrum Noir Sparkle markers and "dipped" the end in Starry Sky Sparkle marker.  The ink bottle was heat embossed with Clear embossing powder and then colored with the Sparkle markers.  Parts of the post card were also colored with the Sparkle markers.

My message was created using DV Sweet Wordlets (Thinking of You, the "&" from Mr. & Mrs., and Miss You).  These were all colored with more Starry Sky Sparkle marker.  Writing back then was so elegant, so I could easily image someone who used a quill pen would also write beautifully.

Right Now

Today is the New Release from Die-Versions.  Today, I'm showcasing one of the new Express Edges Mini.  This is the "Right Now" Mini Edge.  They are smaller versions of the Express Edges, except instead of being 5/8" tall, they are only 1/2" tall.

For this card, I've combined several Die-Versions dies as well as a couple different rubber stamps.  I started off stamping the background stamp (from Just For Fun) with Distress Ink (Vintage Photo) and then heat setting it with Clear embossing powder.  I further distressed the background by adding Tattered Rose and Old Paper to it.  Next, I stamped the "Journey" Stampers Anonymous stamp onto Sparkle N Sprinkle's Embossable acetate with VersaMark and heat set it with Amethyst embossing powder.

"Your" is die cut using the DV Tide Pool font and "begins" is from the Missy Micro font.  The Mini Edge is heat embossed with Sea Foam embossing powder for a shimmery look.

I thought this would be a good graduation card for a guy either starting college or getting his first "real" job after college.

Be sure to visit the Die-Versions Blog for more great projects using all the New Releases and check out the DV You-Tube channel showcasing each of the new dies.
