Turner Syndrome Awareness Card Auction

I'm so happy to say that I'm participating in the Turner Syndrome Awareness Card Auction again this year. It is hosted by my friend and fellow card-maker, Lori Kobular on her Instagram page. Her daughter, Julie, has Turner Syndrome and Lori is doing all she can to improve awareness of this rare genetic disorder.

The card auction begins Feb 4 and 100% of the proceeds are donated to Turner Syndrome Foundation. Just click on the link above to view and bid on some gorgeous cards crafted by many talented card makers. Please make your bids in the comment section in US Dollars. If you see a card that you love, please bid with your heart!

This is a collaborative Card Auction for the benefit of the Turner Syndrome Foundation, which operates solely on donations.  With Covid the last couple of years, it has been very difficult for the Turner Syndrome Foundation to raise donations, since most of their big fundraisers are held as "in-person" events. The pandemic has put all of that on hold.  The TS Foundation provides support, guidance and educational programs for families impacted by Turner Syndrome.  TS is a genetic disorder where a female is born missing part or all of her second X chromosome leaving her with lifelong medical issues and learning disabilities.

Here is a link to the Turner Syndrome Foundation if you would like to learn more about TS:  https://turnersyndromefoundation.org/

For my card, I chose this stamp from Concord and 9th and colored it with Copic markers. The sentiment is from The Ton and is a stamp/die combo called Easy Expressions.

So be a Card Hero and go bid on some amazing cards, and remember, all proceeds go to the Turner Syndrome Foundation.

Until next time,

Butterfly - Turner Syndrome Blog Hop and Challenge

Hey everyone, today I'm sharing a project I created for the 3rd Annual Turner Syndrome Awareness Blog Hop and Challenge that is going on during the entire month of February.  This year there is both a blog hop and a challenge that you can enter for a chance to win lots of prizes.  For more details, please visit Lori's My Turner Syndrome Journey.

I've created an easel card using a Tonic Studios die set (Kit #6 - Butterfly Easel Creator).  After searching on You Tube to make sure I knew how to assemble the butterfly, I found this video showing a reverse easel card and knew that's what I wanted to do.  I tweaked the design a bit, but the basic assembly is similar.

I based the colors for my easel card on the mood board that the Blog Hop designers also used for inspiration:

As you can see, I chose the green, pink, and yellow for my inspiration starting off point....and of course the butterflies. 😀

I added sparkle to the pink butterfly base for added bling before adhering the yellow detailed die cut. Both of these were then adhered to a green butterfly and all three layers were adhered to the green card easel base.

Here is a side view of the easel card. As you can see, I added glue to the centers of each layer so that there is more dimension.  This also makes it look as if the butterfly is taking flight.

And finally, this photo shows the easel card unfolded so you can see the base more clearly as well as the sparkle on the pink layer.

When participating in the challenge, don't forget to include something that you learned about Turner Syndrome in your post.  I didn't realize that most of the pregnancies don't go to full term and that's why Turner Syndrome girls are called MIRACLES.

Until next time....

TSA 2020 Blog Hop

Hello Blogging Friends!!

Turner Syndrome is a genetic disorder where a female is born with only one X chromosome, instead of two, leaving her with life-long medical issues and learning disabilities. This condition occurs one in 2,500 female births worldwide, but is more common among pregnancies that do not survive to full term. That is why Turner Syndrome Females are considered MIRACLES!

Many caring Sponsors and DT Members have partnered with us to bring Turner Syndrome Awareness to the Public. For details on how you might win any of these fabulous prizes, please see Lori's TS home page. Thanks for learning About Turner Syndrome

Individual Blog Designers Prizes on their own blog post

My TS related project is inspired by the TSA official color board:

Now for a bit about my project.

I combined two digi images from Scrapper's Delights (Honey Pumpkin Pie, Anime VIP Virgo 1 Bundle) to create this spring card. I layered all the daisies and the butterflies on top of the pumpkins that were originally part of the main image on my computer and printed it out.  Copic markers were used to color the image, choosing colors from the TSA official color board.

I added Glossy Accents to her glasses and to the butterfly wings.  Nuvo Crystal Drops were added to the flower centers. Die-Versions (crochet lace) die cuts were added to the sides and my sentiment was die cut using a Spellbinders die (Fancy Tags Two).

Please remember to visit the "It's A Girl Thing" Turner Syndrome Awareness Blog Hop 2020  page to become eligible for prizes.   I will also be giving away a prize (or two) to lucky commenters on my blog. :-)

Happy Hopping,

My TS related project uses colors from the TS official color board:

My project was pretty easy to create using various digital images and digital paper.  The focal point is a new digital stamp set created by my friend Donna Ellis. (You can find it here.) To give it added dimension, I resized and printed the butterfly a couple different times and fussy cut these out.  I added Nuvo glitter (Turquoise) to the outlines of each of the butterflies and folded the wings of the smaller ones upward.   I also added a couple lines of double sided tape along the bottom of the second layer of blue matting and covered it with more Turquoise glitter.

The sentiment is also a digital image created by Donna for the participants of this blog hop as a "thank you for participating" gift.  I changed the color to coordinate with the colors from the official TS color board. The digital paper is one that I've had for a long time and unfortunately, I don't remember who the manufacturer was.

The card base was created from a piece of glossy photo paper.  I wanted to see if you could do some of the same types of techniques on the photo paper as you could on regular glossy paper. For this one, I spritzed several different colors of Nuvo Shimmer Powders onto the photo paper and spritzed it with water.  I allowed each layer of color to dry before adding more colors.  I kept doing this until I was happy with the results.  It was so much fun, that I created a whole batch of backgrounds for future use.

Now it's time to head back to the "It's A Girl Thing" Turner Syndrome Awareness Inaugural Blog Hop page. Check the "How to Win" section to see the requirements needed to be eligible for prizes.  You'll also find who the next person on the blog hop is.

Thanks again for joining us and learning more about Turner Syndrome.
