Anime Mia

It's the last Friday of May and that means it's time for the Scrapper's Delights Anime New Release.  There are three images you can choose from or, you can choose the VIP Deal where you not only get the three new release images, but you also get the Zodiac Gemini.  You can only get these with the VIP Deal.

I wanted to use Anime Mia for my project today.  I printed her on white cardstock, colored her with Copic markers, and then fussy cut her out.

I die cut two Paper Rose Stitched Square Frames, one medium that I colored with green chalk and one large that I colored with a Copic marker that matches her dress.

I added a sentiment and another Paper Rose die cut (Wheat and Grass Border) that was die cut from gold glitter paper.

This is such a bold and vibrant card that I decided it didn't need anything else.

Hoppy Easter {Scrapy Land #112}

Hey everyone!  It's time for a new Scrapy Land Challenge and since Easter is this coming Sunday, I decided to create a shadow box card for the occasion.

The theme is always Anything Goes using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.  Two winners will each receive a $10 gift certificate to go shopping at Scrapy Land.

I used the following products to create this shadow box card:

Although I love the Lawn Fawn Shadow Box card die, I wanted to change it up just a little bit...so I flipped it on its side and made it vertical instead of horizontal.  This also allowed me to use this taller image as well.

Adhere the shadow box as you normally would.  Be sure to die cut the opening and stamp your sentiment before gluing the last tab into place to create the box.  The main difference between a horizontal shadow box and my vertical shadow box is where you create your tabs.  For the traditional shadow box, the tabs to adhere the die cut to the shadow box are located on the sides.  For my vertical shadow box, I created a tab at the bottom of each piece by scoring and then folding.

Instead of using the oval that came with the die set, I used a scalloped oval instead.  The grass dies were die cut from green cardstock and then highlighted with some Distress Oxides.

The digi image was colored with Copic markers and I added some Spectrum Noir Sparkle markers here and there.

Magic of Christmas {Scrapy Land #97}

Happy Wednesday!  It's the first Wednesday of September and that means it's time for a new Scrapy Land Challenge!  The theme is always Anything Goes using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.

As I've mentioned before, I'm slowly working on my Christmas cards.  So I have another one to share with you today.  I used the following dies for my card:

Yvonne Creations: Christmas Decoration

Sue Wilson Designs: California Collection-Beverly Hills

Cheery Lynn Designs: Lattice 1

Sunny Studios: Fishtail Banners (any of these would work as well)

The image is a digi called Fairy Bauble from Make It Crafty.  I colored it with Copic markers and used the colors suggested on the online video class.  Once the image was finished, it was die cut out using the Sue Wilson die.

The backdrop was created by die cutting the Lattice 1 die three times from three different colors of cardstock.  I offset each one so the color patterns would be different.  (I cut off the excess portion on the sides so that the entire piece was still an A2 size.)

The Christmas Decoration was die cut from white cardstock and heat embossed with Gold embossing powder.

The sentiment (from Sunny Studios called Holiday Style) was stamped onto my fishtail die cut and heat embossed using Hero Arts White embossing powder. 

I pop dotted it in the center so it would look curved.

Christmas Spirit Fairy

Holiday Wishes to you!  Today I'm sharing another Christmas card with you.  This is a Digi Only image from Sparkle N Sprinkle called Christmas Spirit Fairy.

I started out by coloring the image with Copic markers and then I added Nuvo Glitter Drops (Ruby Slippers) to the holly berries on her dress and Woodland Green Nuvo Crystal Drops to her shoes.

Bubblegum glitter was added to the poinsettias on her dress and Black Ice glitter was added to the outline of her wings.

I then die cut a Sue Wilson Designs (Australian Collection - Background) die from cream cardstock.  I applied Sticker Paper to the back of the filagree die cut, adhered the focal image on top, and then covered the remaining adhesive with Sparkling Snow glitter.  (This is one of those colors that I use so much that I have an economy jar 😉.)   This, along with the outer frame, was then adhered to a piece of pink cardstock.

The large poinsettia is a die cut from Die-Versions (Poinsettia 2).  It was cut from white cardstock and then colored with Distress Inks and Distress Oxides. Nuvo Glitter Drops (Honey Gold) was added to the center of the flower and Sparkling Snow glitter was added to the edges of the flower petals.

The sentiment is from the Winter Greetings Birds and Wreath stamp set which came out last month.  I stamped the sentiment with VersaFine and then heat set it with Clear embossing powder.  I colored the white cardstock with a bit more Distress Ink/Oxides and then fussy cut it out.

Here's how I created my hybrid (both digi and rubber stamps) Graduation - Party Time! project:

I started out by layering one of the digi banners that come with the digi bundle on top of the digi graduation cap.  One of the great things about digi versions is that you can resize the image and then move it or angle it however you want.  Once I was happy with the size and angle of the banner's placement, I printed out the completed image and colored it with Copic markers.

I then added Glossy Accents to the bottles and used a Sakura glue pen to add glue to the letters on the banner and covered the glue with Periwinkle glitter.



Using the Nesting Stars die (from Lifestyle Crafts), I die cut the largest star from a piece of Super Adhesive Sheet.  I added pop dots behind the center of the image and then adhered the focal point to the center of the star.

The banner edges are adhered directly to the star base (not pop dotted).  It is curved, like a banner would be in real life.

Once the focal image was adhered, I covered the rest of the adhesive on the star with more Periwinkle glitter.



The sentiment was created by first die cutting a scrap of white cardstock using an old Spellbinders die (Ribbon Tag Trio Two).  Once it was die cut, Distress Inks (Ripe Persimmon, Carved Pumpkin) were used to give it some color.  I dripped droplets of water on the ink for a two-toned look.  Then I stamped the sentiment with Versa Fine ink and heat set it with Clear embossing powder.   This really gives the ink a lot of dimension.  This was then treaded through some twill ribbon and adhered to the front of the card.

Wee Bit of Luck

I have another fun St. Patrick's Day card to share with you today.  I actually used two of the new release stamp sets from Sparkle N Sprinkle: Luck of the Irish Enchantress (both the digi version and the rubber version) and Rory's Lucky Clover (for the sentiment).

I started out with the digi version and added the rows of clovers on either side of the image.   Once my scene was printed, I colored the images with Copic markers.  I added Irish Sparkle Sparkle N Soft flock to all of the clovers by first applying Dimensional Glue and then the flock. Irish Sparkle was also added to the clover on her bow as well as the pony-tail holders that keep her braided hair together.  I kept the pile of flock on the dimensional glue overnight and the next morning, I put the excess back in the bottle.  I find that when I do it this way, the color of the flock seems to be a bit deeper.

Celestial glitter was added to the gold coins in the pot of gold and Pine Grove tinsel glitter gives the grass a bit of sparkle and dimension.

The sentiment was heat embossed with Forest Green embossing powder.  The frame around the sentiment is actually the negative portion I kept from cutting out a Tonic Studios die (Retro Birthday).  Before adhering the sentiment to the frame, I heat embossed the frame with Hit the Beach embossing powder.

As an embellishment to the sentiment, I stamped the clover from the Irish Enchantress set onto green cardstock with VersaMark and heat set it with more Forest Green embossing powder.  After fussy cutting it out, I added some Mountain Mint velvet glitter to the petals and pop dotted it onto the frame.

Snowman Kisses

Today's project features a sweet tag that can be used as an ornament, a tag on a bottle of your favorite vino, or on a present.  The stamp set, Christmas Tag #2 from Sparkle N Sprinkle has two different images that come with it, plus a "to" and "from".

This project is a hybrid as I used the digi image of the snowman (and made it a little bigger) and the rubber for the sentiment.  Copic markers were used to color the image and Nuvo Glitter Drops (White Blizzard) was used to accent the snowflakes.  Luau Green velvet glitter accents his hat.

The to/from, which is on the back of my tag, was stamped with green pigment ink and then heat set with Clear embossing powder.

This colored project was sitting on my desk for a few days while I decided what I wanted to do with it.  While it was there, I received some happy mail which included a Tonic Studios die (Wreath Bauble die set) and the wheels started turning. :-)

I took a piece of Super Adhesive Sheet, adhered one side to white cardstock, and then die cut the wreath.  After removing the protective sheet, I placed the snowman image in the center and then covered the rest of the adhesive with more Luau Green glitter.  An instant tag/ornament/decoration was created once a piece of stretchy string was added through the hole at the top.

Get Your Craft On

Get Your Craft On by Sparkle N Sprinkle is today's featured card.  To start out, I stamped the Bugaboo image (did you know that Sparkle N Sprinkle now has rubber versions of some of your favorite Bugaboo images?) and colored her with Copic markers.

The buttons were covered with Brushable Glue and the following glitters.  From top to bottom: Laser Blue, Jasper Blue, and Terrific Blue.  The ribbon in her hand was covered with Deep Royal tinsel glitter.  

The image was die cut using a Tonic Studios dies (Ornate Frame layering die set).  I added brushable glue around the backside of the ornate oval frame and then covered it with more Deep Royal tinsel glitter.  The tinsel glitter was added to the back so that it could peek through the openings around the frame.  (If it was on the front, it would have covered up all the details.)  I also outlined the inner oval with Nuvo Mousse (Mother of Pearl.)

I wanted this card to be a mostly white card with a pop of color.  So for the background mat, I dry embossed white cardstock with a Crafters Companion embossing folder (Basket Weave) and highlighted the edges with more Mother of Pearl Nuvo Mousse.

The sentiment is from another stamp set offered by Sparkle N Sprinkle: Party Spunky.  I used the digi version and die cut the sentiment with a Simon Says Stamp die (Holiday Apothecary Labels).  Again, Mother of Pearl Nuvo Mousse was used to outline the sentiment and Nuvo Crystal Drops (Gloss Ebony Black) accent the sides of the sentiment.

Roses

My project today uses both the digi version and the rubber stamp of the large rose in this Sparkle N Sprinkle Roses set.  I used the digi version to enlarge the blossom and stamped the rubber version on white cardstock to create my background mat.

The focal point was colored with Copic markers, fussy cut out, and then I applied Clear embossing powder, followed by Sparkle embossing powder.

This gives it a different look than if I only used the Sparkle embossing powder.  You can see the difference between the blossom, which looks shiny with bits of glitter embedded into it versus the bottom solid card mat, which just has Sparkle embossing powder adhered to it.  The blossom looks shiny and feels smooth whereas the bottom mat has more texture that you can both see and feel.

I die cut some glossy white cardstock from a Spellbinders die (Labels Twenty Eight) and then added Distress Ink (Abandoned Coral) over it.  To give it a textured look, I used a sea sponge over the base coat.  Nuvo Crystal Drops (Gloss White) were added to either side.

To create the patterned mat, I randomly stamped the rose image over a piece of white cardstock using Abandoned Coral Distress Ink.  While the ink was still wet, I added Clear embossing powder and heat set it.  Next I added color to the cardstock by applying Distress Ink (Squeezed Lemonade, Carved Pumpkin) with a blending tool.

The sentiment, which is part of the stamp set was stamped with Black Soot onto vellum and heat set with Clear embossing powder.  A strip of crinkle ribbon and bow add the finishing touches to this card.

Summer Grilling

Today's invitation/card combines two of the newly released stamp sets from Sparkle N Sprinkle: Summer Grilling #1 and Summer Grilling #2.  This is actually a hybrid card as part of it is digital and part of it is stamped.

To start out, I designed the apron on the computer and went ahead and placed the tongs, spatula, and bbq brush in the pockets.  I also used the digi version for the hot dog, cheese burger, the BBQ bottle, and the message on the top pocket.  I printed the apron twice so that I could pop dot both the top single pocket as well as the bottom row of pockets (and add BBQ bottle into the pocket).

After coloring everything with Copics, I fussy cut out the apron and all the food.  These were adhered to mats die cut using a Spellbinders die (Grand Labels Four)

Clear embossing powder was added to the BBQ bottle, Daffodil embossing powder to the spatula and brush, and Silver Detail embossing powder to the tongs.

Sparkling Snow glitter was added to the relish on the hot dog and to the pickles on the cheese burger.  I stamped the sentiment with Momento Tuxedo Black ink and then used a Sakura glue pen to go over the letters.  I sprinkled some more Sparkling Snow onto the glue and then wiped part of it away.  I wanted the glitter to not only be on the letters, but also around the sentiment.  It's an easy way to add a bit of sparkle to a larger area without a lot of glue or glitter.

Hyacinth velvet glitter and 1/8" Tear-ific Tape was used to create my glitter ribbon.  As you can see, I wrapped it around the card base several times before attaching it to the back of the card.

Splish Splash

Today's card showcases the new Splish Splash rubber stamp set from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  The background was derived from the sentiment, which is the digi version.

After stamping the main image with VersaMark, it was heat set with one of the new chunky embossing powders, Fleur de Lis.  After fussing cutting out the image, it was adhered beside the sentiment and a Sakura glue pen was used to add rain.  Ocean glitter covers the rain drops.  The die cut frame (by Impression Obsession - All in One Frames, Rectangles)  The frame was heat embossed using Vanilla Ice embossing powder.

For the top left portion of the background, I die cut several stars (from Die-Versions - Stars) from a piece of Super Adhesive Sheet and covered them with Daisy glitter.  The bottom right portion of the background uses several strips of 1/2" Tear-ific Tape.  Each strip of tape is covered in glitter, creating a rainbow.  The glitters used are Fire Engine Red, Orange Surprise, Daisy, Lator Gator, Jasper Blue, Cobalt Glaze, and Purple Dust.

Twine was added toward the bottom and a ribbon flower, which was created using  Mon Ami Gabby pull ribbon and a Couture Accent piece for the center.  The card base was dry embossed using a Crafters Companion embossing folder (Distress).

3 Wisemen

The 3 Wisemen, one of the four new stamp sets from Sparkle N Sprinkle, is showcased today.  I used the digi version for the image and made them larger, but used the rubber stamp for the sentiment.

The image is colored with Copic markers and I've added Sunny Daze glitter to the star.  This shaped card was die cut using a Lifestyles Crafts nesting die set (Nesting Frames #7) and I cut the center frame out of Sticker Paper and added Starry Night glitter to it.

The sentiment was die cut from a Spellbinders die (Fancy Tags Two) and then heat embossed with Sparkle embossing powder.  The sentiment was added using Staz-On Jet Black ink.  Unfortunately, no matter how many photos I took, the shimmer on the sentiment didn't show up (but trust me, in person, it's very shimmery :-).)

Here's a bit about how I created this card.  I actually used the digi version so that I could enlarge the puppies and create a mirror image.  After printing the puppies and die cutting them out with the heart shaped die from Lifestyle Crafts (Nesting Hearts), I began creating the background using Distress Paints (Dusty Concord, Wild Honey, Peacock Feather).  After creating a mask for the images, I spritzed water onto the top of Distress Paint dauber and pounced it down onto the cardstock.  The extra water makes the top really juicy so that it will splat really well.  (I saw this technique being used on someone's blog fairly recently, but I don't remember who's.   If you know who's blog this was on, I'd love to give them proper credit.)

After I was happy with the background and removed the masks, I stamped the sentiment with VersaMark ink. It was then heat set with Black Detail embossing powder.  A thin line of dimensional glue was added around the edge and covered with Laser Green glitter.

My dog collar (Diamond mesh from Mon Ami Gabby) holds the paw charm with the help of a couple jump rings.  This allows it to swing around, just like a real dog tag would.  The dog tag was die cut using MFT's Pet Charms die and then heat embossed with Silver Bells embossing powder.  It was heat embossed on both the front and back, since it does swing.

A Crafters Companion embossing folder (Distress) was used to create the mat behind the heart.  A couple more layers completes the card.
