Now for a bit about my card.

This fun new stamp set was designed as a Pop-Up card so that when you opened it, the girls were dancing the night away.  It's also loaded with the three of the four new Neon Glitters - Energized! (orange), Electrified! (yellow), and Exulted!(hot pink).  The four new Neon is Exhilarated!, a bright green.

I used the digi version of Disco Girlfriends and after printing and coloring with my Copics, I fussy cut them out.  Eunice (the one on the left) is sporting Exulted! and Electrified! neon glitter in her outfit while Gerty is strutting her stuff with added Energized! neon glitter.

The patterned paper is pretty old, but fit the theme well.  I also added round dots of neon glitter to some of the circle centers as well as the glitter ribbon underneath the sentiment.

The sentiment, which is part of the set, was printed on white cardstock and then die cut using a Simon Says Stamp die (Stitched Circles).  The next step was to heat set it using Super Thick Clear embossing powder.  But before I heated the embossing powder, I sprinkled on some Sparkling Snow glitter.  This gives it a sparkly, disco-ball type of feel.

Shona is the next stop on this February Reveal Blog Hop.  Don't forget to leave a comment on each of the Designers' blogs for your chance to win all three of the new sets revealed this month.

Love is Sharing Your Dessert {Scrapy Land Challenge #11}

inside
It's the first Wednesday of the month and that means it's time for a new Scrapy Land Challenge.  The theme for the first challenge of each month is Anything Goes, Plus use any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.

The dies that were used for today card are
- Die-Versions Love Pop Up die
- Die Versions Cupid die
- Lifestyle Crafts/We R Memory Keepers Nesting Hearts

For today's card, I was able to incorporate this challenge along with Sparkle N Sprinkle's new Berry Sundae rubber stamp set.  When I saw this sentiment, which is part of the stamp set, I knew that I wanted to combine it with Die-Versions Love Pop Up die and substitute the "O" for the dessert.

The sundae is colored with Copic markers and a number of embossing powders.  Shasta Puff was used on the whip cream, Yellow Spark on the bananas, Velvet Sparkle on the berries, and Sparkle on the glass bowl.  Firecracker Red embossing powder was used for the sentiment and Tomato Red tinsel glitter was added to the pop up letters.  I also added Velvet Sparkle embossing powder to the area that is seen behind the pop up letters for a subtle touch of bling.

The sentiment was stamped on pink cardstock die cut with the Nesting Hearts and was adhered to a piece of Super Adhesive Sheet that was die cut from the next larger nesting heart.  Cloud Nine velvet glitter was added to the exposed adhesive surrounding the pink cardstock.  Strips of Tear-ific Tape were also added for more visual interest and all were covered with Firecracker Red embossing powder and heat set.  The Die-Versions Cupid was die cut from a piece of black cardstock, covered with VersaMark and heat set with Sparkle embossing powder.

The front of the Pop Up card uses coordinating nesting hearts, along with the Die-Versions Cupid.

You have until Feb. 15th to upload your project to the Scrapy Land Challenge.  It would be extremely helpful to the team members if you would mention which brand of dies you used to create your project.  The winner will receive a $15 gift certificate to go shopping at Scrapy Land.  Be sure to check out what the rest of the team has created for you as well.

Happy Birthday {pop up}

front

inside
Who wouldn't want to get a fun surprise pop up birthday card?  Today's card uses the Die-Versions Happy Birthday pop-up die.  This is the last of the fourteen samples I created using the new DV Pop Up and Cut Out dies.

I paper pieced the letters with thin self-adhesive glitter paper.  The front of the card was dry embossed using a Spellbinders embossing folder (Dainty Dots) and the fringe on the party hat is covered with Yellow Gold tinsel glitter.

Congrats {pop up}

front
Die-Versions new Congrats pop up card is a great way to celebrate someone's accomplishments.  There are numerous ways to use these pop up dies, but for this one, I paper pieced the letters as I wanted them to match the stripe on the front.  A few sequins and ribbon, and you've got a fun and quick way to say way to go!

Love {pop up}

inside

front

Today I'm sharing another one of the pop up die samples that I created for Die-Versions new pop up series.  This is the Love pop-up and after die cutting the cardstock, I dry embossed it with the Hearts embossing folder from Spellbinders.  Distress Inks (Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick) was used to distress the inside of the card.

Birthday Cake {pop-up - Scrapy Land Challenge #7}

front
inside

Today is the beginning of Challenge #7 over on the Scrapy Land  blog and the theme is Anything Goes using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.  Pretty easy considering that Scrapy Land carries over 40 different brands.
My surprise pop up card uses three different dies, all from Die-Versions: Birthday Present, Love You Express Banner, and the new Birthday Cake pop up die.

On the front of the card, the bow on the Birthday Present and the edge of the card was glittered with Lavender Iris glitter from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  A strip of ribbon conceals the joint between the two different cardstocks.

Two patterned papers, plus a solid for the "icing" in the cake were used for the inside. (Tip: you get a crisper fold and it's less bulky if you use thin papers for the inside.)  I cut apart the Express Banner and adhered them to paper floss to create a banner for each side of the card.  Glossy Accents was added to each of the letters for a shiny effect.  The candles were colored with Spica glitter pens.

Now it's your turn to create.  Just remember to use at least one (or more) brands of dies that Scrapy Land sells in your creation.  It would also be really helpful if you listed the brands you used.  The winner of this challenge will receive a $15 gift certificate to Scrapy Land.

Celebrate {pop up and cut out}

Pop-up

I've got two cards to share with you today.  Both are "Celebrate" cards using the new Celebrate Pop-up die and Celebrate Cut Out die from Die-Versions and are pretty self explanatory.

The pop up uses festive patterned paper with Zva Creatives crystals.  Glossy Accents was added to the letters to make the pop even more.

Cut out

For the second card, I positioned the cut out die three different times on the patterned cardstock.  Copic markers were used to color each of the letters and Goosebumps Texture spray was added for a bit of texture.  I used the  Distress Embossing technique for the edges (Distress Ink - Fired Brick and Clear embossing powder).  A solid background was adhered behind the front panel to make the words stand out even better.

I {HEART} U {Scrapy Land Challenge #6)

front

inside

Today is the start of a new challenge from Scrapy Land and the theme is to add texture plus use any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.

Now there are lots of ways to add texture to your projects, including embossing paste, dry embossing, glitter, mesh, paint....just to name a very few.  I've added texture by adding strips of glitter and ribbon to the front of the card and covering my Die-Versions I {Heart} U Pop Up die with lots of glitter.  Plus the cardstock itself is also textured.

The strips of glitter on the front of the card were created by attaching 1/2" and 1/4" Tear-ific Tape to the front, exposing the adhesive, and covering with Lavender Iris glitter from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  The ribbon is also attached with 1/4" Tear-ific Tape.

The pop up on the inside was covered with Brushable Glue and then more Lavender Iris glitter and allowed to completely dry.  One more strip of glittered adhesive and ribbon complete the inside.

Now it's your turn to create a project that incorporates texture and any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.  Upload your projects to the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog for your chance to win a $15 gift certificate from Scrapy Land.  I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Thanks {pop up}

front
opened
Today I'm showcasing the new Die-Versions Thanks Pop Up.  These new pop ups are fun to use and for this one, I used the Bokeh technique.  The products I used to create this technique were Distress Ink (Tumbled Glass, Tea Dye) and Sparkle N Sprinkle Surf glitter.  (This is the card that's used as the sample on the DV packaging insert.)

For those of you who might like a quick tutorial on how I made all of the pop-ups, I've written some simple instructions:

Pop-Up card Instructions:

1.  Once you have decided the paper size for your card, lightly mark with a pencil where the center fold will be on the pop up portion of your card.  You only need to mark about ¼” from each edge as this will be your placement guide for the next step.
2.  The nubs on the die indicate the middle of the die.  Line this up with the pencil marks showing where the center fold of the card will be.
3.  Tape the die down with removable tape and run it through your die cutting machine.
4.  If you are not using a crease pad, go back over the crease marks with your scoring tool for easier folding.  Score the way you want the fold to go: valley folds scored on the front of the die cut piece and mountain folds scored on the back of the die cut piece.
5.  Connection points with the card are valley folds and where the portion of the die pops out will be mountain folds.
6.  Gently train the paper folds to go the direction you want.  Squeeze valley folds from the back side to train the paper to fold in the correct direction and pinch mountain folds from the front side.  Fold the pop up portion of the card in half a couple of times to make sure the card will properly close.
7.  You will also need to create a backing card to hide the hole created with the pop ups.  It can be the same size as the pop up or slightly larger, giving you a border around the inside edges.
8.  When adhering the pop up portion to the backing card, always place adhesive on the pop up portion and not the backing card.
9.  It is easiest to insert your pop up portion into the backing card, lining up the center fold, and then apply adhesive to one side of the pop up portion.  Fold the backing card over to meet up with the adhesive.  Repeat on the other side.

I hope these help.  If you have any questions about the Pop Up cards, please let me know and I'll try to answer them as best I can.  (Be sure to leave a way to contact you.)

Gift Boxes {pop up}

Front
Opened
Die-Versions just released twenty new dies, including brand new pop up dies, cut out dies, and some new fonts.  This is the new Pop-Up Gift Boxes die.

I die cut the card base from patterned cardstock and then paper pieced the inside panels and the gift boxes.  Goldenrod glitter from Sparkle N Sprinkle was added behind the stars and vertical lines for a bit more bling.

Here is another version using this die.  Basically it is the same, except for my paper choices.  The sentiment on the front is die cut from Sticker paper using the Die-Versions Compliments-Holiday 1 die and covered in Goldenrod glitter.

One more thing I'd like to share with you.....did you notice that the first card and the sample on the packaging is the same?  I am over the moon excited that I was asked to create the samples for all of the new die packaging!  Doing the Happy Dance every time I see the packaging :-)

These new pop dies are really fun to use and the Gift Boxes can be used for so many different occasions.  Hope you have as much fun playing with these as I did.

Sk8tr Trix

The Sweet Petite Skateboard is another fun release from the Boys Will Be Boys release from Die-Versions.  As the saying goes: "Girls can do anything boys can do....only better!" So this fun pop up card is showing just that.

The digi image is from Mayzy Arts, is colored with Copic markers and fussy cut out.  (She's supposed to be break dancing on a sidewalk, but I had a different idea for her).  After die cutting the skateboard and coloring it with Copics, I added Glossy Accents to the board and immediately sprinkled some glitter into the wet glue.  It looks like one of those fiberglass pieces with the embedded glitter.

The trees are DV Spring Tree that I quickly colored with Copics and the sentiment is a combination of two DV fonts: Flashback (for the letters) and Middle School (for the number).

Be sure to visit the Die-Versions Blog and Facebook page for more wonderful projects from the team.

Tulips for Mom

card closed (front)
pop up card opened (inside)

Mother's Day is a little over a week away.  And Pattie's Creations has the perfect challenge for you: a Mother's Day card.

For this challenge, I decided to make a pop up card using Pattie's Tulip in aVase image from her Esty store.  I printed the image twice as I also wanted to add dimension to a few of the tulip heads.  The pop up base is a die from Sizzix that I adhered the Copic marker colored image.  I added a rub-on or two, and the inside was complete.

Next I had to decide how to decorate the front panel.  After playing around a bit, I decided to used a VLVS rubber stamp for my sentiment.  I stamped this in the center of a Spellbinder's Lacey Oval die cut (#4) and wove twine around the outside of the die cut as well as the first layer of the front.  I must confess that this color twine was a happy accident.  I had sprayed the quilled strips of paper with Smooch Spritz (Electric Blue) and some of it had gotten on my fingers.  I was moving one of the twine bobbins out of the way and some of the ink got on parts of the twine.  Instead of throwing it away, I decided that it was worth a try to see if I could dye it like you can ribbon.  I retrieved a plastic bag, put the cantaloupe striped twine in the bag and spritzed more Smooch Spritz inside the bag and just swooshed  it around.  Needless to say, I was very happy with the results.  Parts of the twine didn't get dyed, but other parts became different colors.

I pop dotted the sentiment and completed the card with my quilled pieces.  Now it's your turn to show us your Mother's Day creation at Pattie's Creations Challenge Blog.  You'll have two weeks, and remember, you must use an image (either digi or rubber) for our challenges.

I'm entering this in the following challenges: Shopping Our Stash (Mothers' Day or girly); Sweet Stamps (for mom); Whoopsi Daisy (flowers); Creative Inspirations paints (flowers).
