Sky's Sweet Music {Lavinia World Challenges #30}

A new Lavinia World Challenges begins today.  The theme is Anything Goes using a stamped image.

For my project, I created this sweet scene using the following products, all of which can be found at Lavinia World:

Sky

Fairy Lantern

Fairy Hugs Glitter Powder (Golden Nugget, Iris)

We Are 3 Digital Paper (Watercolor Batik)

I began this slimline card by stamping the Fairy Lantern stamp three times using various colors of ink cubes. Then I began to add color to the (originally) white cardstock using Pan Pastels. I created a few hills using a torn piece of paper and then continued the rest of the background using purples and blues.  

I added a bit of bling to the lanterns using Spectrum Noir Sparkle markers and gems from Queen and Co.

I wanted to show the inside of Sky's wings as well as the outside.  In order to achieve this look, I stamped her twice onto a scrap of white cardstock and fussy cut her out.  On the second one, I only fussy cut out the wings, as that's all I needed.  

Next I added glue and Golden Nugget Fairy Hugs Glitter Powder to the "inside" portion of her wings and Iris Fairy Hugs Glitter Powder to other set of wings that I fussy cut out.  (I 💖LOVE💖 this new glitter!) I let both sets of wings dry completely before going to the next step.

While the glue was drying, I decided I didn't like the stark contrast of the white edges that were left from the very fine details of the image.  So I added a bit of grey Pan Pastel so that Sky would blend in better with the evening scene I was trying to create.

Once the glue was dry on the wings, I added a pop dot at the base of the "outside" wing and adhered it over (and slightly offset) from the main image. Now you can see her two-toned wings 😀.

I also wanted her to have a bit of dimension.  When adhering her to the background, I added a small pop dot to the back of her head and to the back of the bird. I think this small detail really makes it look as if she's sitting among the Fairy lanterns and not just posed in front of them.

The focal piece was adhered to the newly added digital papers that Lavinia World is now carrying from We Are 3.  I used one of the Watercolor Batik papers because it coordinated with my purples perfectly. I love the fact that you can re-size the papers to whatever size you wish and the designs and colors are amazing.  

The final step was to adhere this to the purple card base. I decided it needed a little something more, so I added dimensional foam tape to the back of focal area as well.  That final step gave the card the look I was going for.  I hope you like it too.

Anime Fairy {Stamper's Delights}

Hey everyone, time for the March Anime New Release from Stamper's Delights (formally known as Scrapper's Delights).

We have a brand new name that better describes the company products and lots more in the works as well.  Very soon, Stamper's Delights will be adding physical stamps to the store in addition to the digi stamps.  There is also a new line of stamps called Kawaii, so now you have three different stamp lines to choose from: Anime, Chibi, and Kawaii.  Also, beginning this month, all three of the stamp lines will have their New Release on the first weekend of each month:  Chibi will be on Friday, Kawaii on Saturday, and Anime on Sunday.

Here is the Anime New Release this month: Anime Fairy (and she coordinates beautifully with the Chibi Fairy released on Friday).

This is such a wonderful and detailed image that is so fun to color.  I decided to pair the Anime Fairy with a sentiment from the Chibi Fairy new release because I thought this sentiment went perfectly with one of the elements from the Anime set.

After adding the various elements to my focal point, I printed everything out and colored the image with Copic markers.

I added semi-transparent pink glitter to her wings and some Spectrum Noir sparkle markers to the sparkly rays and some of the flowers.

Christmas Poinsettia {Scrapy Land Challenge #31}

It's the first Wednesday of December and that means a couple things.  First of all, it's time for a new Scrapy Land Challenge and Christmas is only a few weeks away!  The theme for this challenge is Anything Goes using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.  There are over 40 different brands and you can view them here.

Today's card combines a couple different Die-Versions dies (Poinsettia 2 and the Merry Christmas Script die) and the white-on-white technique.  Theoretically, this should be an easy technique to create, but for some reason this particular technique takes me longer to accomplish than I think it should.

I started out by die cutting the Poinsettia 2 die several times, so that I could create layered flowers.  Before forming the flowers, I lightly spritzed them with a homemade shimmer that has a touch of gold in it.  I also added light pink gems for the centers to add a little color to the card.

The Merry Christmas sentiment was die cut from Sticker Paper by Sparkle N Sprinkle and Bridal glitter was applied to the adhesive.  The frame around the sentiment also has Bridal glitter on it.

Two different embossing folders were used for more contrast between the layers.  Spellbinders (Dainty Dots) and Sizzix (Snow Flurries) were my choices for this card.

Meet Me Under the Mistletoe

Hey everyone, I have a Christmas card for you today using the Die-Versions Mistletoe die.  This is a pretty simple card and could easily be mass produced.  (I think using the Cracked Glass technique on the top layer would look really good too.  Next time :-).)

The background uses basic shapes from the Ticket Fold A Long die and each layer is covered with soon-to-be released Chunky Embossing Powders from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  The base is red, black, and white chunky powders, the center mat is covered with a red/white combo, and the top layer is a chunky red.

The Mistletoe is also covered with Sparkle embossing powder, but I couldn't get it to show up in any of the photos.  I added some gems for the berries and a ribbon to finish it off.

Kokopelli Sun

Today's challenge at Pattie's Creations is to use Autumn Colors in your image.  When I think of autumn colors, I automatically think of oranges, yellows, and reds, so when I was browsing Pattie's Etsy shop, I knew the Kokopelli Sun would be a great image to use showcase those colors.

I printed the image twice so I could fussy cut the Kokopelli person and adhere him on top of the main image.  I didn't add adhesive to his "hair", so it would give a touch more dimension to that part of the image.  The zig zag of his clothing and his horn were heat embossed using Sparkle N Sprinkle's Poolside embossing powder.

The entire image was colored with Copic markers and I added some white highlights with some Copic opaque white paint.  The first yellow panel was dry embossed using the Spellbinders "Valor" embossing folder and the mat behind the image was die cut using a Spellbinders die (Large Octagon).  All of the edges are distressed using Distress Inks and the Distressed Embossing technique was added to the card base edges, using Mustard Seed and Clear embossing powder.

A few gems on the corners and a another bit of blue (in the form of ribbon) are the finishing touches.  Be sure to visit the Pattie's Creations Design Challenge to see what the rest of the team has created for you.

Sunflowers

Sunflower from Sparkle N Sprinkle is another new reveal this month.  The technique I used for this card is the Coloring on Glitter technique.

I stared out by stamping the image with Memento ink (Rich Cocoa) and then covering the stamped image with a Super Adhesive Sheet.  Then I die cut the image with a Spellbinders Beaded Circles die. Using an Exacto knife, I then cut through the beaded edges protective sheet (without cutting all the way through).  After exposing the adhesive, Sunset glitter was applied to the outside ring of beads and Cloud Nine Velvet glitter was applied over the center of the die.

Next I added color to the flower using Distress Markers.  Adhesive backed pearls were placed along the outside ring.  Burlap ribbon and a heat embossed sentiment (using Distress Ink and Clear embossing powder) are final touches to the card.

Witchy Gerty

Witchy Gerty, from Sparkle N Sprinkle loves Halloween and her favorite costume is a witch (surprise, surprise).  She loves going all out, including adding glitter to her fingernail polish :-).

Gerty is colored with Copic markers and then fussy cut out.  The apron is paper pieced.  Orange Surprise glitter was added to her nails and her hat band, as well as for the background.

The spider webs are dry embossed using an old QuicKuts embossing folder (appropriately named Spider Web), and then heat embossed using a Versamarker and Silver Pearl embossing powder.

The spider shaped buttons were enhanced using the Customize your Brads/Buttons technique and Ebony Spark embossing powder.  This is such a fun way to add sparkle and bling to your embellishments.

Princess

"Life as a Diva" is the theme for the Die-Versions new release this month.  Today I wanted to showcase the Sweet Petite Princess die.

I cut her as a silhouette and created a scene where she's looking out a window.  The curtains are rubber stamps from 100 Proof Press (Left Curtain Parting; Right Curtain Parting) which were stamped with Distress Ink (Fired Brick), heat embossed with Clear embossing powder, and colored with Copic markers.  The floor is a rubber stamp by Beeswax Stamps (Fancy Floor), which was stamped with Distress Ink (Gathered Twig).

The background was created using a Cuttlebug embossing folder (Rosa by Anna Griffin) and white pigment ink, which was lightly rubbed over the embossed areas.  The flowers have been in my stash for ages.

Sassy Birthday

Today we are celebrating International Scrapbook Day at Time 4Scrap and we're using a sketch supplied by our very own Milo.  The theme is Anything Goes, but you must use the sketch.

As you can see, I've rotated the sketch to the right and the image (Birthday Cake Sassy), which is colored with Copic markers, is from Sassy Studio Designs.

The square directly behind the image started out as a piece of white cardstock and then I kept adding Distress Paints (and blotting off sections) until I was happy with the color.  You'll also notice that sometimes I don't apply adhesive to all four sides of a piece, leaving the edges to curl a little.  This is a little trick I use to give something a bit more dimension without adding pop dots.

Die-Versions Happy Birthday Corner Concepts die was used to create the next square, by die cutting it twice.   Spica glitter pens adds a bit of sparkle to the letters.  The bow is made from bar grain ribbon (the kind that curls easily) and a big heart brad holds it in place.

Enjoy using the sketch, which is an easy one to use as is or to tweak as you like.

Spring: Aurora

Spring is the theme for the new Time4Scrap challenge starting today.  We have three sponsors for this challenge: Beccy's Place, The East Wind, and Art by Mirian.

I've chosen Aurora, Floral Kiss for my project and colored her with Copic markers.  I've also added various Spica glitter pens to her hair and several of the flowers, but it didn't photograph well (at all).

The background is one of the new Die-Versions dies called Morocco Background.  These dies cut beautifully, but I wanted some of the negative pieces to remain in the frame.  So instead of painstakingly replacing some of the pieces, I adhered a piece of sticker paper onto the back of the die after I ran it through my die cutting machine.  I had tilted it slightly to let most of the negative pieces to fall out naturally, so what was left stuck to the sticker paper.  Then I covered the entire die cut with Spirited Green glitter from Sparkle N Sprinkle.

The border is also a Die-Versions die (Butterfly Garden) that was die cut from a piece of white cardstock and quickly colored with Copic markers.  To add the sentiment, I inked up a Stampendous clear stamp with Momento Tuxedo Black ink, added Clear embossing powder to it, and heat set it for an added bit of shimmer.

Iris Frame

Iris Frame is one of the new rubber stamp sets from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  I love how this set comes with three different sentiments that all fit into the center.

After coloring the image with Copic markers, I added Canary flock to the flower centers and heat embossed my sentiment with Black Detail embossing powder.

The dragon flies are from Die-Versions (Buggy Wee Petites) and are also heat embossed (Pebbled Copper embossing powder).  The Dainty Dots border (a MFT die) was die cut from Super Adhesive Sheet and covered with Daisy velvet glitter.  I also added a few gems to the centers.

I outlined the center frame (with the sentiment) and the outer frame with a Sakura glue pen and covered the glue lines with Daisy velvet glitter.  As I wanted to continue this little bit of sparkle to the card base,  I took my ruler and a Sakura glue pen and drew random lines along the four edges.  As before, I covered the glue lines with more Daisy velvet glitter.

Snowy Flourishes

Hey everyone, today I'm showcasing a project using the new Flourishes Two rubber stamp set from Sparkle N Sprinkle, one of the new rubber stamp sets debuting this month.  I love that it can be both a focal point or in the background.  For this card, I decided to have it as a background to simulate snow swirling all around.

I stamped the flourishes with VersaMark and heat embossed with Winter White embossing powder onto textured cardstock.  For this design, I didn't use an embossing buddy as I wanted to have a few stray flecks of embossing powder, adding to the swirling snow imagery.

The deer is from the Winter Swirl rubber stamp set and is heat embossed with Silver Detail embossing powder for the body and Halo embossing powder for the antlers.

The snow banks were created by cutting out cardstock and covering with Twinkling Clouds Sparkle N Soft flock.  Diamond Dust glitter was applied to the tops of the snow banks.

The snowflake in the upper left corner was created by layering several different die cuts from Spellbinders and Sizzix.  Two of the snowflakes were heat embossed with Ice Rink embossing powder and the third with Winer White embossing powder.  A gem was added to the center for a touch more sparkle.

The frame is by Spellbinders and I die cut it twice - once in white cardstock and once in the dark blue.  I cut out the blue center and layered on the white die cut, which was also heat embossed with Winter White embossing powder.

The panel behind the frame was covered with Sonic Silver velvet glitter and then adhered to the card base.

Happy Cake

Challenge #68 from Pattie's Creations is to use red, white, and blue in your projects.  I created my Happy Cake card from one of the freebies that Pattie gives out on the first Friday of the month, but there are lots of fantastic images to choose from in Pattie's Etsy store!

I designed this card so that it opens on point, giving it a different look than a plain square.  On each side of the square (before turning it on point), I die cut the word "Happy" from one of Die-Versions new Express Edge dies and added glossy accents to each of the letters.  The cupcake itself is covered with Cloud Nine glitter from Sparkle N Sprinkle and then colored with Distress Markers.  The backdrop is several pieces of Washi tape.

Pumps

Time for a new challenge from Pattie's Creations and its all about getting sparkly.  This can be interpreted in a number of ways - gems, spritz, glitter.  Glitter is the way to go for me.  You can never have too much glitter, can you?

I've used the Pumps and Flowers digi image from Pattie's Etsy store and the technique I used is called "Coloring on Glitter."  (Basically, you cover your image with glitter and then color it with whatever medium you like best.  If using a rubber stamp, cover the cardstock with glitter, stamp your image, and then color it.)   How fun and super sparkly!  The entire image is covered with double sided adhesive and Cloud Nine glitter from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  After burnishing the glitter to make sure it was firmly adhered, I took out my Copic markers and began coloring the image.  Since I'll never have a pair of Louboutin shoes (which are known for their red soles), I decided to make a funky pair of my own.  I also added a turquoise gem to the center of the flower just in case there wasn't enough sparkle :-)!

For those of you concerned that this will ruin your Copic marker tips, it doesn't as long as you are careful.  I try to use the side of the tip a bit more and don't press down with the point.  I also wipe off any stray glitter that might get on the point before replacing the cap.
