Hello Spring {DRU Inspiration}

Hey everyone,  I'm so happy to be sharing a card I created for the Dies R Us Inspiration team.

The following dies were used to create this card.  All of these dies can be found at Dies R Us:

To start my project, I began by die-cutting the Paula background dies using two different green patterned cardstocks.

As you can see from the finished project photo, I intensionally die cut the darker layer at an angle.  This allows me to place the top die cut in the correct position while maintaining an angle and border for the bottom layer.

The Layered Loop flowers were die cut next.  The base layer was die cut from a scrap of glitter cardstock and the top layer from a soft pink scrap. As you probably guessed, I keep most of my scraps to use until they get too small 😀.

For the sentiment, I die cut the base layer of Hello from a scrap of black cardstock, and then cut the top layer twice - once from white cardstock and again from the same pink glitter cardstock I used for the base of my flowers.

The focal point was then adhered to my card base, which was die cut using the Noble Dies.  For a finishing touch, I added gems to centers of my loopy flowers.

Here's one final look:

I hope you've enjoyed today's project.  Head back to the Dies R Us Blog tomorrow for more fabulous inspiration from the DRU Inspiration design team.

Bountiful Thanksgiving

For today's card, I combined two different Sparkle N Sprinkle new reveal stamp sets: Pilgrim Thanksgiving and Wisps of Autumn.

I stared out by stamping the images and sentiment onto a die cut frame by Creative Expressions (Spanish Collection - Granada) with Distress Ink (Black Soot) and then heat embossing them with Clear Detail embossing powder.  Copic markers were then used to color all of the images.

I used a variation of the Covered with Glitter technique to cover the entire piece.  Instead of glue or a Super Adhesive Sheet, I sprayed the piece with spray adhesive and then covered it with Lavender Iris glitter.  I thought this way would be easier considering all the little details in the die.

The Distressed Embossing technique was used on both of the patterned papers combining Distress Ink (Mustard Seed for the first panel and Vintage Photo on the card base) and Clear embossing powder.  As a finishing touch, I threaded a piece of ribbon through the side openings of the die cut before final assembly.

Gran's Chair

Gran's Chair by Sparkle N Sprinkle is perfect for the grandparents in your life.  It has sentiments for both a grandmother and a grandfather.  I have to warn you that lots of dies were used in this creation - but it was so fun to see my idea bloom into reality :-).

After stamping the image and coloring it with Copic markers, I fussy cut it out with an exacto knife as I wanted to get in between each of those little spindles.  I also stamped the flowers in the basket twice, so I could adhere one layer on top of the other.  This gives it just a little more dimension without having to add pop dots.  The centers of the flowers in the basket and the ribbon around the hat also have Sunny Daze glitter added to them.

The arch and trellis, from Impression Obsession, was die cut twice so I could could cut off the flower box at the bottom and add pop dots to it.  All three pieces were covered with VersaMark and heat set using Sparkle embossing powder.

For all the flowers and vines on the trellis, I used quite a few dies and glitters.  The vines are from Memory Box (Savannah Border) and Cheery Lynn Designs (Mini Flourish One) and the flowers are all from different sets of Susan's Garden by Sizzix (Yarrow, Sunflower, Forsythia).

I added my glitter colors (Impulsive Purple, Mauvelous, and Carnation) to strips of Sticker Paper and then die cut each individual flower.  I adhered them to the trellis with small dabs of Dimensional Glue.

The edges of both cardstock panels were distressed with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.  The die frame between the layers and the sentiment frame (which are both pop dotted), is a new die in my collection from Creative Expressions called Spanish Collection-Granada.

The sentiment was heat embossed onto the smallest frame in this set with Caramel embossing powder.  This is a Cosmic embossing powder, so it leaves a little bit of shimmer on the cardstock.  You could either wipe it off with your fingertip or leave it.  I left it on because it enhanced the details of the die cut.
