Love You {DRU Inspiration}

It's my turn to share on the DRU Inspiration Blog today and since Valentine's is right around the corner, I created a Valentine's project. 💘

I used the following products:

Tutti Designs: Cross Stitch Hearts
Tutti Designs: Dotted Nesting Rectangles
Neat & Tangled: Love You (any of these word dies would work)
Penny Black: Lovely Border (these would also work)
Fairy Hugs Glitter Powder: Bumblebee

This is a pretty quick and easy card to create and I bet you already have most of these types of dies in your stash. To start out, I die cut some Tonic Studios specialty paper with the largest heart from the Cross Stitch Hearts die set.

Next, the sentiment was die cut and adhered onto the heart.

I then die cut the Penny Black die from red cardstock and laid the heart on top.  I had decided not to separate the frames of the Penny Black die set, but you could.  I happen to like the way it cuts with all the frames nested together (plus I knew I could never get all of them perfectly spaced if I cut them apart 😂).

I felt it was missing something, so I die cut a frame from the Dotted Nesting Rectangles and added Fairy Hugs Glitter powder to the frame in a bright yellow. This gave it the pop of an additional color and a lot of sparkle.

Everything was then adhered to a white card base and is ready to be mailed when the time comes. 😁

Here is one final look at today's project:

Hello {Jan's Digi Shop}

Hey everyone, I have a project to share with you today using a digi stamp set from Jan's Digi Stamp Shop called Church Sympathy 604J. Although this set has some beautiful sentiments perfect for a sympathy card, I decided to use this image for a "just because" type of card.  I think the image is beautiful and can be used for lots of different occasions.

To create today's card, I printed the digital image onto vellum and then fussy cut around it.  I added a touch of color to the back side of the vellum, but was very light handed as I wanted my background to show through.

The background was created using watercolor paper,  Nuvo Shimmer Powders, and water.  I spritzed the watercolor paper with water, squeezed powders here and there, and then used my finger tip to move the color around. I wanted to keep the colors pretty intense, so I added more of the shimmer powder until I was happy with the results.

Next I adhered the vellum image on top of the watercolor panel and then added this to my die cut from a John Next Door die set (Square Scene Box).  A bit of twine added the finishing touch before adhering the focal point to the card base.

I die cut the sentiment from black card stock using a Penny Black die (Doodles) and adhered it directly to the card base.

Jan's Digi Stamp Challenges is a monthly challenge which begins on the first Monday of each month and end on the Sunday prior to the first Monday.  There will be TWO Winners chosen randomly and will have two weeks to collect their prize.  One winner will be chosen from those that submit a project using one of Jan's images and the other winner will be chosen from all the other entries.  Each winner will receive a $10 gift certificate to Jan's Digi Stamps.  So come join the fun!

Love {DRU Inspiration}

Hey everyone, today I'd like to share an anniversary card I created for the
Dies R Us Inspiration team.

I started out by die cutting four of the Chloe stems from white cardstock.  I also die cut the Lovely Border from white as I was going to create a white on white card (not easy for me, although so many make them effortlessly).

Using the Noble dies and some specialty papers from Tonic Studios, I die cut my mats.

After doing a "dry assembly" of everything, I decided I didn't like it, but I loved the antique gold specialty paper.  So, I got out some antique gold embossing powder and embossed my Chloe stems and die cut the Lovely Border from some dark red cardstock (sorry no photo of that step lol).

When I was cleaning out my Lovely Borders die of all the little hearts and dots, I thought they would make a great filling for a future shaker card, so I collected them for later. I'll keep adding to this little container every time I use this die.

I assembled everything again and was happy with the results. If you look closely at the photo below, I only adhered small portions of the Chloe stems to the red cardstock as I wanted them to be dimensional.

Here's one last look at the finished project.  (Hope my hubby likes his anniversary card.😍)

I hope you've enjoyed today's project.  Head back to the Dies R Us Blog tomorrow for more fabulous inspiration from the DRU Inspiration design team.

Puttin' On The Ritz {Jan's Digi Shop}

Happy Monday!  Time for a new Jan's Digi Stamp Challenges #6.  I have a new project featuring this digi stamp set from Jan's Digi Shop called Puttin' On The Ritz 3225J.

I printed the digi image and the sentiment from my computer onto white cardstock and colored him with Copic markers.  I added a bit of Wink of Stella glitter pen to the roses, the hat band, and his tie.

I deckled edged the colored image and adhered it onto a die cut frame from Penny Black (Lovely Border).  This was then layered onto a piece of bright red specialty paper from Tonic Studios. The card base is black, so on the inside, I layered another piece of the red specialty paper and a piece of white cardstock to write my message.

Jan's Digi Shop is one of the few digi stores that also gives your pre-colored images.  If you need to create a card in a hurry, this is the way to do it.  You could add a few of your own embellishments and your good to go!

Now it's your turn to come play with us.  Jan's Digi Stamp Challenges is held the first and third Monday of every month.  Winners are chosen randomly and will have two weeks to collect their prize.  (All the details are under the Challenge Guidelines tab at the top of the Challenge Blog page.)

For the month of May, this is the gorgeous Progressive Freebie image called "Just For You Mum".

I decided to create an all-purpose card using this sweet image.  All the papers and internal frames were created digitally.  I love how these frames give the appearance of depth when it is actually flat as can be 😉(before embellishments).

I printed the image twice so I could fussy cut out both of the bows to give it more dimension.  She is colored with Copic markers and a touch of a Spica glitter pens was added to the rose for some sparkle.

The sentiment is a die cut from Penny Black (Doodles) and a double bow is the finishing touch.

I'll be back with another Scrapper's Delights Anime New Release image to share with you on the last Friday in May.

3D Winter Wonderland

Products used:
Sparkle embossing powder - EP107
Elephant flock - FL111
Amber Wheat flock - FL116
Tonic Studios - Christmas Header Fold Winter Wonderland die - 1410E
Tonic Studios - Starry, Starry Night Simply Screens
Nuvo Glimmer Paste - Golden Crystal - 950N
Nuvo Glimmer Paste - Emerald - 955N
Nuvo Glimmer Paste - Peridot - 958N
Nuvo Crystal Drops - Red Berry - 667N
Nuvo Crystal Drops - Gloss White - 651N
Nuvo Glitter Accents - Fresh Snowfall - 948N
Dreamweaver stencil - LG651
Penny Black die - Moose
Impression Obsession - Rabbit set

Winter officially begins in a few days, but I know a lot of people have already had lots of snow.  They are even predicting a few snow flurries in my area, which is unusual for the South.

To create today's winter playground for a few furry friends, I started off by cutting a large piece of white cardstock (8 1/2" x 5 1/4") and adding the tree using a Dreamweaver's stencil and Nuvo Glimmer Paste (Emerald, Peridot, Golden Crystal).  I applied the Peridot Green first, as it was the lighter of the two colors, and then added a little of the Emerald Green.  I applied the Golden Crystal to the star.  I quickly removed the stencil (dropped it in a pan of warm, soapy water) and used my finger tool to combine the two greens together and fill in some of the open areas.  This stencil has a lot of open areas, but I wanted a dense tree.  I let this dry for completely before adding my ornaments (Nuvo Crystal Drops - Red Berry).  Next I squeezed some Nuvo Glitter Accents (Fresh Snow) onto the background and spread it around with my handy dandy finger tool. :-).  Gloss White Nuvo Crystal Drops were also added for some falling snow.

Next I die cut my moose (a Penny Black die) and a couple bunnies (Impression Obsession - Rabbit set) and colored them with Copic markers.  Amber Wheat flocking was added to the Moose's antlers and Elephant grey flocking was added to the bunny tails.

Here's what the background looks like before adding the front:

For the front of my project, I cut another piece of white cardstock the same size as the background.  I used the Tonic Studios Winter Wonderland die set to add my sentiment and then die cut the huge snowflakes using the Tonic Studios Starry, Starry Night Simply Screens die set.

After the front was die cut, I heat embossed it using Sparkle embossing powder.  The front was adhered to the background, leaving a slight curve in the center.  To allow for the curve, the background piece was cut to 8 1/8" x 5 1/4".

Hello Dragon {Scrapy Land Challenge #63}

It's the first Wednesday of the month and you know what that means 😊....time for a new Scrapy Land Challenge!  The theme for the first Wednesday of the month is always Anything Goes using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.

I needed a quick note card and came up with this one, using the following dies:

Die-Versions: Oriental Dragon
Penny Black: Doodles

I started out by die cutting the dragon from white cardstock and then coloring him with Copic markers.  I then added a greenish/blue glitter over his scales (the company that made this color is no longer in business) and a mixture of light colored glitters was added to the other glittered areas.  (Tip: I keep a bottle of mixed glitter on hand for glitters that have been contaminated with other colors.  That way I don't waste any.)

The middle part of the Sue Wilson Designs die was used for my background and my sentiment was die cut from a strip of leftovers.

Although this is a small notecard size, I know the recipient will love it...both for the subject matter as well as all it's glittery goodness.😀

Now it's your turn to join us for this Anything Goes using any brand of die Scrapy Land carries.  You have until April 16th to join in on the fun.  The winner will receive a $15 gift certificate to go shopping at Scrapy Land.

While you're visiting the Challenge blog, be sure to give a nice warm welcome to three new design team members.  (You can find their links on the Scrapy Land Challenge.)

We can't wait to see what you create!

 Wonder who the Mystery Host will be this month????

Now for a bit about my easel card.

I used the digi version of Sea Lady and colored the image with Copic markers.  Once the image was colored, it was die cut using a Sue Wilson die (Noble dies - Ornate Pierced Rectangles).  Lots of glitters were used to decorate the shells, including Periwinkle, Starfire (my new favorite at the moment :0), Sunny Daze, and Lacy Lilac.  I also heat embossed the Sweet Seahorse die cut (by Die-Versions) with Sparkle embossing powder.  In order to get the background for the seahorse, I traced around the die itself and fussy cut it out.

For the inside of the easel card, I started out by dry embossing the bottom with a Spellbinder M-Bossabilities folder (Sea Beauty) and then I lightly went over the raised areas with Distress Inks (Spun Sugar, Dried Marigold).

The small sea shells are dies from Impression Obsession (Mini Shell set).  These were all colored with Copic markers and then heat embossed with more Sparkle embossing powder.  The sentiment, by Penny Black (Doodles), was die cut twice from navy cardstock and a lighter blue cardstock.  After adhering the two together, Glossy Accents was added for a shiny look.

Now it's time to head on over to Ani's blog to see which beach themed stamp set she used.
