Be Mine! {DRU Inspiration}

  

Hey everyone, Valentine's Day is only four days away and I decided to share one final Valentine's Day card.

The following products were use for today's project for Dies R Us:

Tutti Designs: Cross Stitch Hearts
Memory Box: Heart Delights (this would work perfectly as well)
Cheapo Dies: Newsprint
Paper Roses: Texture 3 (this would work well)
La-La Land: Love Notes stamp (any animal stamp or die cut would work well)

I began today's project by taking my background mat and tearing off the edges. This was then adhered to my white card stock base.  I started building up my card from there by die cutting all my pieces before adhering them.

I took the individual small hearts that were die cut from the Memory Box die and adhered them to my texture grid by Paper Rose. I set this aside to let the glue dry a bit longer and started on the rest of the card.

I adhered the large heart (die cut from the second to largest die in the set) to the side of the background mat. Next came the texture grid with the hearts already on it.  I die cut my sentiment using the Cheapo Dies font die and placed them where I thought I wanted it.  

At this point, I decided I needed something a little extra and remembered a previous project where used the La-La Land stamp and had two of the images left for a future project. This was just what I needed.

I adhered the cat in the lower right corner and then added the sentiment letters to complete the card.

Delights {DRU Insp}

Today I'm sharing another slimline card I created for the Dies R Us Inspiration team.  

Before we get started, there is one more day to apply for the DRU Inspiration DT Call that's going on now. All the details can be found HERE.

The following dies were used to create this slimline card:

Cheapo Dies: Palm Trees

Sue Wilson Designs: Layering Background - Ocean Waves

This slimline card is a bit wider than the dies that I had, so I created my own based on the width of the Ocean Waves die.  I started out by die cutting the Palm Trees from black shimmery cardstock and then paper piecing the moon and the branches.  For the moon, I die cut a piece of double sided adhesive and covered it with Fairy Hugs (Bumblebee) glitter.

The Ocean Waves die is a layering die, so I die cut it from two different shades of blue. This is a rectangular shape and I wanted a curve at the top, so eyeballed it and cut it with scissors. I also wanted sparkle underneath, so using the die cut as a template, I cut a piece of double sided adhesive, adhering one side to a piece of cardstock and adding Fairy Hugs (Arctic) glitter to the other side. I then adhered the die cut waves on top.

I stamped and fussy cut out several fairies from the Lavinia stamp Three Dancing Fairies. I also stamped the dolphin onto grey cardstock and fussy cut him out. (Any of these dolphin dies would also work.) Spinner (the dolphin) is a Fairy Hugs stamp and I nestled his tail between the waves.

For the sentiment, I wanted a belly band sort of look. My sentiment is half of a stamped image called Dreams and Delights and by masking the "Dreams" part, I was able to stamp the part I wanted onto the belly band. It looks like I really messed up my stamping, but the stamp actually was designed this way. 😁 I heat embossed it using Hero Arts White embossing powder.

Graduation Shaker {DRU}

Hey everyone! 

Today I'm sharing a shaker card I created for the Dies R Us Inspiration team.  This graduation card is to celebrate the high school graduation of a friend of mine.

The following dies were used to create this fun shaker card:

 I die cut each of the pieces beforehand.

In order to create a frame, I used the largest and third to largest die from the Dotted Nesting Rectangles set.

Save the center piece for the inside of the card.

The background was die cut from mirrored cardstock as was the main Grad Cap.  Be sure to save all the negative pieces of the Grad Cap to place them back.  My trick for doing this is to add a piece of regular Scotch tape on the back.  The sticky side is automatically facing upright, so all you need to do is add the negative pieces and they are permanently in place.

I partially die cut the Grad Cap a second time so I could fussy cut out the tassel in the appropriate color.  I then adhered this on top of the main Grad Cap.

I chose smaller numbers to commemorate the year, but any size can work.  

I added glitter to the frame I created using the Glueless Glitter technique that I talk about fairly often. The steps are simple: 1) add Versamark to the die cut; 2) cover with Clear embossing powder and heat set; 3) add Versamark over everything again; 4) Cover the area with your choice of glitter; 5) Heat set one final time.  You know it's ready when the glitter begins twinkling (that means it's melting into the embossing powder).  Easy, peasy!  

This photo shows the glitter having a bluish tint but's a silver holographic color. This was due to the angle I took the photo.  If you look carefully, you can also see that I have already added my acetate to the back of this frame. If I had taken the photo straight on, it would have captured my camera's reflection 😀.

Now you're ready to assemble.  I adhered the group of grads to my mirrored cardstock and added my shaker glitter (the same mixed sized glitter that I used on the frame) and some small seed beads.

Next, I added dimensional foam to the back of my glittery frame and adhered it on top of my mirrored cardstock.  I also added some dimensional foam to the back of the Grad Cap and adhered that in the upper right corner.  The year was adhered in the bottom left corner.  I used Cosmic Shimmer Specialist Glue (you can find this at DRU)  because it hold really well on  glittery surfaces and it dries clear.

On the inside, I die cut the girl silhouette from black cardstock and the Congrats message from more of the mirrored cardstock.  Adhere both of these to the center piece you created when die cutting the frame.  Finally, add this piece to the inside center.  Be sure to leave a little room for a written message as well.

Christmas Circles {Scrapy Land #104}

Today is the beginning of the Scrapy Land Challenge #103.  Since we have less than a week before Christmas, I wanted to share a Christmas card with you.

It's a very simple design using two dies. 

Tutti Designs: Nesting Stitched Circles
Cheapo Dies: Merry Christmas






All the circles were die cut from mirrored cardstock, alternating shiny with textured red mirrored cardstock.  The sentiment was die cut from silver textured mirrored cardstock.  The card base is green, continuing the theme of traditional Christmas colors.

The hardest part of this entire card was deciding on which pattern I wanted my circles to be in 😀.

Cat on a Fence

Today I've created a card featuring the Cat On The Fence die from Cheapo Dies.  I'm sad to say this will be my final post as one of their design team members.

I started out by die cutting this die from the front panel of my card base so that there is an opening.  (The die cut is actually located on the inside of the card.)  Next I ran the front of the card base through an embossing folder from Spellbinders (Flower Fun) and then colored it with some Nuvo Embellishment Mousse (Coral Calypso, Peony Pink).

I masked front of the card and then added more colors of Nuvo Embellishment Mouse (Lilac Lavender, Lemon Sorbet) to the inside.  This gives me the backdrop for my silhouette.  Once this was finished, I closed the card front, added glue to the die cut, and dropped it down from the front.  That way, I've got perfect placement.

On the inside of the card, I randomly stamped my sentiment all over. This stamp is part of the Sentimental Stamps set by Avery Elle.

Hello

I used the Playful Kittens exclusive die from Cheapo Dies.  This was die cut from watercolor paper and watercolored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush watercolor markers.

I actually die cut it a second time from a scrap of white cardstock so I could cut off the ball and string of yarn and add real twine around the ball and let it string along.  This gave it tons of dimension.

The sentiment was from a Concord and 9th stamp set (Bitty Burst) and stamped with VersaFine ink.  I then heat set it with Clear embossing powder.

Blooming Birdhouse Planter

Today I'm sharing a card created using the Birdhouse Planter from the exclusive line by Cheapo Dies.  The background mats were die cut using the Dotted Rectangle Set from the unbranded section of Cheapo Dies.

I die cut the Birdhouse Planter from white cardstock and then colored it with Copic markers.  The flowers also have a bit of bling added to them curtesy of Spectrum Noir Sparkle markers.

I wanted to add additional flower vines around the Dotted Rectangle mat, so I die cut the planter a couple more times and cut off the sections I wanted.

I pop dotted and adhered the focal point onto a mat die cut from one of the larger dies from the Dotted Rectangle set.
