Christmas Door

This Christmas card, uses Cheery Lynn Design dies (Screen door with cat; Ornamental Wreath) and a Martha Stewart punch (Branch). Glittered berries were added to the wreath by dotting dimensional glue and sprinkling with red glitter.

The Welcome mat is an older rubber stamp from Art Impressions and was stamped with white StazOn.  Although you can't see it in the photo, the cream cardstock was dry embossed with the Bricked Sizzix embossing folder to simulate the side of a house.

To my favorite cat lady....Merry Christmas!

All the Little Things

This month's Die-Versions new release has more great Express Edges.  The Congrats is so versatile and can be used for lots of different occasions.  I decided to make a baby card using a digi from Create with TLC and Graphic 45 papers.

After printing the image, I die cut my Congrats at the top and colored everything with Copic markers.  I also added Glossy Accents to the individual letters as well as the baby rattle.  The Martha Stewart punch was given a bit of shimmer with Sparkle embossing powder form Sparkle N Sprinkle.  One other trick I did was to re-color the polka dotted cardstock.  It didn't quite match the colors in my image, so I took one of the Copic BGs and colored the whole panel - instant matching.

Head on over to the Die-Versions Blog and DV Facebook page to see what the rest of the team is up to.

Are You Old School?

Yep, I'm pretty old school in a number of ways :-).  I still remember ribbon typewriters and what a pain they were to use when (not if) you made a mistake.  This cute image and sentiment are part of a set from Hero Arts.

In order to create the background, I used Tim Holtz's Marbled Stain technique using Distress Stains (picket fence, barn door, rusty hinge, mustard seed) and then spritzed it with Perfect Pearl Mist (perfect pearl).  In addition to stamping the image onto my background, I also stamped it onto a very old and fragile book page so I could fussy cut out the "typewriter paper".  Then I stamped my image onto the book page.  I also cut a small slit so that the paper feeds up from the typewriter (just like it would on a real typewriter).  I added a couple of buttons for the typewriter ribbon spools and some twine for the typewriter ribbon.   The "hi" buttons are Echo Park (For the Record) alpha stickers and are embellished with Epiphany Crafts bubble domes to make them look more like typewriter keys.  A bit more twine and the front is complete.  I also embellished the inside with a bit of twine and another piece of an old book page.   I created an area for a written message and decorated the edges with a Martha Stewart punch (Cherish).

Ornament Trio

I have to tell you the new Ornament Trio from Die-Versions is so fun and versatile.  So many different ideas popped into my head and they all yelled for LOTS of glitter (and it was everywhere!)  Here are a couple of ideas.

For my first project, I created three separate panels from cryogen cardstock and punched out the branches for the ornaments to be hung from.  The ornaments are glittered in red from glitter paper that I created myself.  If you haven't made your own glitter paper, it's really easy and there are lots of different ways to do it.  For this one, I ran a scrap of white cardstock through my Xyron machine and then applied lots of glitter.  You'll want to burnish it into the paper using a bone folder or your finger to make sure the glitter is adhered really well.  Then I ran it through my die cutting machine like normal.  I also traced the die cut ornament on to patterned paper and fussy cut that out, leaving a slight lip all the way around.  I adhered this to the back of the glittered die cut for some contrast.

The second idea is a candle and I based my method on a "Stamping on Candles" tutorial.  Instead of stamping an image, I die-cut the tissue paper with the Ornament Trio die and then colored them with Copic markers.  I added some ribbon at the bottom and held it in place with push pins.

Lord Money Man

Are you ready to be inspired?  I hope so because the Inspiration Challenge at Dude Time Doodles begins today and this is your inspiration:

June Inspirational Challenge

As soon as I saw the board, I knew right away that I wanted to use Lord Money Man.  He's colored with Copic markers, fussy cut out, and framed with Spellbinder's Labels Twenty (#4,5), which is pop dotted above the image.  The sentiment, which is part of the Lord Money Man set, and the mat were die cut with Spellbinder's Small and Large Deckled Rectangles (#2).  I added a bit of Glossy Accents to the monocle, some buttons, and a bit of suede to finish it off.  The card base was punched using Martha Stewart's Cherish Around the Page punches.

You'll have one week to upload your project based on the inspiration board to Dude Time Doodles - and don't forget to make it monochromatic and that it has to be for a DUDE (masculine themed card).  You don't have to use a Bonibleaux Designs image, but it really makes us happy when you do.

While visiting the challenge blog, go see what the other Dudettes have in store for you today too.  If you like what you see, leave us a comment and let us know - that always makes us smile.  Also, today (6/15) is the last day you can apply to be a Dudette on the Design Team - so don't hesitate any longer.
