Fisherman's Delight

I'm so excited to say that my card using Pattie's Creations Fisherman's Delight was selected to be published in the Designed to Color June/July 2012 edition.  This is a new magazine that is both in print (by subscription) and online.  One of the conditions of being published is that I couldn't share my project until 30 days after publication.  So I'm sharing it with you now.

The image is colored with Copic markers and fussy cut out so I could pop dot the fish for extra dimension.  I also applied Shimmerz (Angel Wings) paint to the fish for a more realistic look.   Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Labels 7 were used for my mats and distressed with Distress Ink (Brushed Corduroy).  The sentiment is a rubber stamp by Unity Stamps that has been stamped on a Sizzix Movers and Shapers (Mini Ticket set) die cut.  The wires one each side of the image are actually Christmas ornament hooks that I picked up after Christmas because I thought they would look cool on a card.  Added a bit of ribbon, and a perfect card for any fisherman.  One more quick note - when I showed the card to my husband, he said "hey, those are my boots!"  Yep, I got the color idea from a pair of rubber boots he has.  Inspiration is everywhere.

I'm also entering this in the following challenge: Simon Says (sentiment).

Later Sk8ter

It time for the Digi Makeover Challenge #25 and this week's challenge is a sketch.

Skater Cat, a digi from Paper Makeup Stamps was my inspiration for this challenge.  The image is colored with Copic markers and the skate board is painted with a mixture of Shimmerz paint (angel wings) and Stickles (Waterfall).  Spellbinders dies (Postage Stamps) was used to create the backing mats.  The sentiment is part of the Little Words Digi Sentiment set, also from PMS.

Head on over to the Digi Makeover Challenge and upload your project using the linky button.  Be sure to see what the rest of the design team came up with too.  You have one week, and don't forget, you have to use a digi and follow this week's theme to be eligible to win.  If you use a Paper Makeup Stamps image, the prize will be larger.  There are lots of great images to choose from.

Caliope

It's Monday and that means it's time for a new challenge from Paper Makeup Stamps' Digi Makeover Challenge.  The challenge for this week is Valentine's.

I've chosen Caliope from Paper Makeup Stamps because I loved his little heart he was holding and the sentiment is from the Sending You Love digi set.  He's colored with Copic markers and then fussy cut out.  the heart is a mixture of Shimmerz paint (angel wing) and Stickles (Christmas Red) combined together on my non stick craft sheet and painted on.  I love how it sparkles and shimmers.  The sentiment is cut using a Fancy Tag One die from Spellbinders.

The rules are very simple - mainly use a digi image and follow this week's theme.  You could win extra stuff if you use a Paper Makeup Stamps digi image, but it isn't required.  You have one week to upload your Valentine's creation to the Digi Makeover Challenge blog.  Be sure to visit the other Digi Makeup Artists and see what they've got for you too.

Winter Blues

Can you believe it's the 20th challenge for the Digi Makeover Challenge team?  Seems like we just started. :-).  This week's challenge is Winter Blues, so get out your shades of blues.

I chose Cosette from Paper Makeup Stamps to show off my Winter Blues.  As usual, she's colored with Copic markers but I used some different combinations than I usually do (mainly on her skin tone and her hair).  Her fairy wings are iridescently sparkly as a result of combining Shimmerz paint (Angel Wings) with Stickles (Waterfall).  I mixed them on my non stick craft sheet and painted the mixture onto the wings with a small brush.  I added a touch of Spica glitter pens in the tucks of the coat as well.

The flower is from a Marianne Designs die that incorporated ribbon into the design.  I coordinated the ribbon with my image by using Distress Stains (Faded Jeans, Tumbled Glass) on white ribbon to get the color I wanted.  I also added a bit of Copic marker to the center of the flower for more depth.

Now it's your turn to show us your Winter Blues.  You'll have one week to upload your project at the Digi Makeover Challenge.  The rules are posted on the blog, but the main ones are that you must use a digi and you need to follow this week's theme.  Pretty easy!  you won't want to miss what the rest of the team made for your inspiration either.  So go get started.

Uncle Peregrine

Uncle Perry is Rupert's favorite uncle and he's stopping by to say hi. You can find him and all the other dragons in the family at Stamping Dragon Designs.

Spellbinder's Grand Labels Eleven (#6) was used to cut out the card base (and then folded in half) and Wonky Rectangles (#1, 2, 3) was used for the accent pieces.  To give the card base a bit more interest, I ran it through the Grand Caliber with the Retro Circles embossing folder by Sizzix.  I added a little Shimmerz paint to Perry's horns and Copic markers were used to color him in.  I put a little colorless blender on a piece of cloth and ran it over his belly for a faded look.  (Instead of him turning grey like the rest of us, Perry's coloring begins to fade as he gets older.)

You still have time to participate in the Favorite Embellishment challenge going on now at Stamping with the Dragon.

Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian friends!

Friendship

The theme this week at Stamping with the Dragon is Friendship.  The design team will be using images that showcase the dragons and fairies together.  So be sure to go see what everyone else has created for your viewing pleasure.  You can find this digi stamp, called Resting Place, at Stamping Dragon Designs along with lots of other great images.  The winner will receive four images of her choice from Stamping Dragon Designs.

The image is colored with Copic markers.  I added Shimmerz paint (Angel Wings) to the fairy's wings and Rupert's chest plus I mixed Broken China Distress Stickles with the Shimmerz paint on my non stick craft sheet and painted Rupert's wings and horns for added glimmer.

Spellbinder's Labels Fourteen (#3) was used to cut out the sentiment (by Raindrop Echo Designs) and the image was die cut with Scrap-Mart's Label 1 (#5) dies made by Spellbinders using the "out of the box" technique.  For the background paper, I used a Dreamweaver's stencil I had and ran it through my Grand Caliber machine - it worked just like an embossing folder.

You have until June 23 to upload your friendship project at Stamping with the Dragon.  Can't wait to see what you create for us.
