Believe in yourself {Scrapy Land #110}

Hey everyone, it's the third Wednesday of the month....and you know what that means 😉.  A brand new Scrapy Land Challenge begins today!  The theme is always anything goes using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.

The following dies were used for this card:
Sue Wilson Designs: Noble Dies-Double Pierced Rectangles, Set B
Sue Wilson Designs: Triple Layer Collection - Tina
Elizabeth Craft Designs: Lacy Poppies (any of these poppies will work too)
Tonic Studios: Believe in yourself (came from subscription kit, but any of sentiment die would work)

I had so much fun using the Triple Layer die that I made a whole bunch of different color combinations.

For today's project, I decided to go with pink, chocolate, black, and a touch of light blue.  (I saw this color combo on a purse and loved the way it looked).

The "believe" and the stamp/die "in yourself" are from the Tonic Studios subscription kit #19, but any type of sentiment will work.  I used VersaFine Clair (Charming Pink) for the stamped sentiment and I added the same ink to white cardstock to die cut the pink part of the believe.  I also heat embossed it with clear embossing powder before adhering it to the shadow base.

The poppy is one of three dies from the Elizabeth Craft Designs set and they are quite large.  This is the largest of the three dies and it is a little over 2 1/2" wide and a bit over 5" long.  I die cut this from white cardstock, colored it with Copic markers, and added some Prills (Sweet Shop) to the center.

As a finishing touch, I added a piece of tulle that I also colored pink with the Charming Pink ink.

Now it's your turn to join us.  You have until March 31 to upload your project to the Scrapy Land Challenge.  We love seeing everything from CAS, layouts, mixed media, planners, and anything else you can think of as long as it includes at least one brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.

Love Doves {Scrapy Land Challenge #70}

Hey everyone, it's Wednesday and that means it's time for a new Scrapy Land Challenge.

We have great news to go along with today's challenge - ALL the challenges are now ANYTHING GOES using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.  So now there is no reason not to play along with us!

For my card today, I created a wedding card using the following dies:

Sue Wilson Designs - Frames and Tags Collection - Rose Oval
Sue Wilson Designs - Australian Collection - Background die
Spellbinders - Opulent Ovals
Die-Versions - Wedding Canopy
Impression Obsession - Love Doves
Jeanine's Art - Garden Classics Lace Frame, Side Oval

Since I was mailing this card, I needed to keep it flat, without a lot of bulk.  I started off by die cutting the Opulent Oval from a matte gold cardstock and then adhered it to the white cardstock base.  I added tulle on top of the oval to soften the entire look of the card.

The next layer is the Rose Oval, die cut from white cardstock. The Love Doves and the Bride and Groom from the Wedding Canopy (I fussy cut them away from the rest of the die cut) were heat embossed with Sparkle embossing powder from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  Even though these were also die cut from white cardstock, the sparkly embossing powder makes them stand out.

inside

On the inside of the card, I die cut the Opulent Ovals again from white cardstock and the gold, stamped my sentiment with VersaFine black ink, and then heat set it with Clear embossing powder.  The sentiment is from Joy Clair (Wedding Sentiments) stamp set.

I also added two of the negative pieces from the Jeanine's Art die cut in the corners.  The smallest dies from the Australian Collection Background die set were used to die cut a "pocket".  This pocket was adhered (on three sides, leaving the top open) to the inside bottom of the card front to hold a little something extra for the happy couple 💑 😁.

So now it's your turn to show us what you've got.  There are TWO WINNERS,  one random and one chosen by the designers, AND it's ANYTHING GOES using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.  There are over 55 brands of dies (it doesn't have to be the exact die), so more than likely you have at least one of them in your stash.  You can see them all here, under Products.

You have until July 30 to upload your projects to the current Scrapy Land Challenge.  Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has created to inspire you.

Hang In There

Everyone needs a little encouragement when going through tough situations.  Today's card is perfect for those times.  It showcases the sentiment from the new Girlfriends Support Set 2 and adds the flower from the Girlfriends Support Set 1.  Both of these stamp sets are from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  (Did you know this series of stamp sets were meant to be interchanged? Be on the look out for more in this series in the coming months.)

I created a double frame by die cutting the Tonic Studios Ribbon and Bows Layering set from cardstock and a piece of Super Adhesive Sheet.  After removing the backing paper (and saving it - you will see it used in a future post) from the frame, I covered the exposed adhesive with Cloud Nine velvet glitter.

The center of the die cut piece was stamped with VesaMark and heat set with Fabulous Grape embossing powder.  Then I stamped my sentiment directly on top of the embossing powder.

I stamped with VersaMark onto the Fabulous Grape, added White Detail embossing powder and heat set it again.  You can always repeat this step if you want the sentiment to be even brighter and have a bit more dimension.  I was happy with the first stamping, so I didn't do it a second time.

A Crafters Companion (Hessian) embossing folder was used to create my matted layer.  After dry embossing it, I curled down a corner, added a bit of VersaMark to the back side and then heat set it with more Fabulous Grape embossing powder.  I also stamped the small flower from the Girlfriends Support Set 1 onto the card base so that it was peeking behind the curled corner.

The sparkly frame was pop dotted on top of the dry embossed mat and the sentiment was recessed into the center.  A touch of tulle finishes off this very feminine card.

Now a little about my card.

I used the digi version of Nasturtium #2 to create both the card front and the background mat of my reveal card.

To start out, I designed a three panel card front which I printed and then colored with Copic markers.   I used the same design for the background.  Instead of printing the images out in black ink, I changed the ink color to a light green, increased the size of each panel, and then printed it.

The sentiment, which is part of the set, was printed out onto vellum paper and then heat set with Clear embossing powder.  I placed the vellum on top of the colored panel and then framed the entire piece using a die cut from Simon Says Stamp (Stitched Rectangles).  Using the Glueless Glitter Technique, Orchid Rose velvet glitter was added to the frame for a big splash of color.  The frame was also pop dotted for more visual interest.

A piece of light pink tulle was added for the bottom as the finishing touch.

Your next stop on the blog hop is Shona.  Be sure to leave a comment for each designer so you'll be eligible to win each of the six new stamp sets revealed this month.  You never know who the Mystery Designer will be.

Old Well

Old Well is one of the four new stamp sets released by Sparkle N Sprinkle this month and it comes with quite a few sentiments, as well as the two bunnies and the main image.

For today's card, I used a masking technique for both the sentiment and to add the bunnies in front of the well.  I stamped the bunnies first, then stamped them again on scrap paper and cut them out (these are my masks).  After adhering the mask over the bunnies, I stamped the main image.  Everything is colored with Copic markers.  Sugar Plum glitter gives added sparkle to the wisteria blooms.

To create the sentiment, I die cut a piece of Super Adhesive Sheet using the Stitched Rectangle dies from Simons Says Stamp.  I saved the release paper and cut out the center and used this as a mask.  The exposed edge was then covered with more Sugar Plum glitter and Bubble Gum glitter was added to the center.  The Stamping on Glitter technique was used to create the sentiment.   Using a MISTI stamping tool makes this technique a breeze to do! A piece of tulle was added behind the sentiment for a bit more interest.

Stanley Valentine

Today I'm showcasing Stanley Valentine, one of two digi-only sets released this month from Sparkle N Sprinkle.

I started off by combining the flower borders and Stanley in my Word software and printing the image twice. The second Stanley is layered directly on top of the main one, as are the heart balloons.  Both the image and the flower borders are colored with Pan Pastels (Burnt Sienna, Red Iron Oxide, Pearlescent Red, Pearlescent Yellow) and then layered on top of some tulle.

I decided to create a tag using one of my new dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs (Tags and More 1 - Lace) which die cut the top and intricate cut outs at the top of my kraft paper.

The small hearts behind the focal point are actually the negative pieces die cut from the Die-Versions Love Doily.  Bubble Gum glitter was added to his nose and Caution Yellow glitter creates the sparkle in each of the flower centers.

I printed the sentiment, part of the set, onto cardstock, die cut it with a Taylored Expressions die (Simple Tabs), and heat set the tag with Sparkle embossing powder.  The balloons were also covered with VersaMark and heat set with Sparkle embossing powder for a shimmery look.

Happy Fall Y'all

It's the first of September (oh my) and time for the new Sparkle N Sprinkle Creative Challenge.  It's Anything Goes as long as you use glitter, embossing powder, and/or flock (or any combination of the three).

For this fun card, I was able to combine one of the new Die-Versions Cute Cubes with this fun turkey from the Thanksgiving rubber stamp set from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  The sentiment is recessed from the main panel and is covered with Autumn Medley Sparkle N Soft.

The main panel is glossy paper and I heat embossed the various leaves that come in the set.  I combined Tuscan Star, Japanese Lacquer, and Pear Star on each of the leaves.  (I did get a bit of co-mingling of the powders, so I made a new color and saved it for later.  I'm sure I'll use it on something in the future.)  Distress Inks and an ink blending tool was used to add color to the background.

The turkey was heat embossed with Clear Detail embossing powder onto kraft cardstock and colored with Distress Markers.  I added Gypsy Red Velvet glitter and Autumn Medley glitter to various parts for added sparkle.

Head on over to the SNS Creative Challenge for your chance to win.

Hibiscus

We want to see your altered or recycled projects for Pattie's Creations Challenge #60.  It's alway fun to think of new ways to add new life to older items.  Once you start thinking about how to recycle everyday items, you'll look at every thing in a different light going forward.

This hibiscus image was one of the monthly freebies that Pattie posts on the first Friday of each month on the blog (look at the very top for the button).  So be sure to mark your calendars to snag one of her fabulous images for free.

Can you guess what I recycled for today's card?  It's the tulle behind the main flower.  It originally was the wrapping for a bar of handmade soap someone gave me.  So not only is it pretty, it smells nice too.

I used the same image and resized it multiple times to create the background as well as the focal point.  Being able to resize your image easily is one of the many things to love about digis.  Both the background and the main flower are colored with Copic markers.  I fussy cut out the large hibiscus and added Raspberry Soda glitter and Glossy Accents to the petals (to simulate dewdrops).  After positioning everything to see how I liked the arrangement, I decided the background was a bit too vibrant.  So, I covered the entire thing with double sided adhesive and covered it with Cloud Nine glitter.  Now, not only is it shimmery, but it had the muted look I was going for.

Now it's your turn to create something altered or recycled.  You have two weeks to complete the challenge and upload it to Pattie's Creations Design Challenge.  Don't forget to check out what the rest of the team has created too.
