Christmas Town

Die-Versions is celebrating Christmas in July with it's newest release.  Today's card incorporates two of the 34 new dies released this month - Tis the Season Sweet Wordlet and Christmas Town Scene Whispers die.

This new die just shouted that it needed sparkle.....so I gave it lots of sparkle.  I first die cut the Christmas Town Scene from black cardstock, covered the die cut with VersaMark and then heat set it using Velvet Sparkle embossing powder from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  Love how this sparkly embossing powder looks on dark cardstock.

Next, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock slightly smaller than my scene and repeated the process of heat embossing it with Velvet Sparkle embossing powder.  After adhering the white cardstock to the back of the black cardstock, I used markers to color some of the glittered areas.

Using the new Tis the Season Sweet Wordlet, I die cut the sentiment from white cardstock and used the card base to give it color.  A quick and easy way to insert those tiny little filler parts of the letters is to apply adhesive to the back of the words and then insert the little pieces.  To eliminate the rest of the stickiness behind the sentiment, I added Lavender Iris glitter and burnished it in with my fingertip.  Not only does it cover up the rest of the adhesive, it also adds a touch more shimmer to the project.

Paper piercing and ribbon are the finishing touches to this pretty quick and easy Christmas card.

Cozy Fireplace

Die-Versions newest release is all about Winter.  For those of you who live in snowy areas (or takes vacations in those areas), the fun doesn't have to stop when you come inside.  Setting by a roaring fire after being out in the cold weather sounds pretty fun to me and combining the new Winter Fun Express Edge and the Cozy Fireplace Whispers die is the perfect way to express this idea.

To create this scene, I started out with the Cozy Fireplace Whispers die and die cut it several times from various papers so I could layer them on top of each other.  This gives it dimension without a lot of added bulk.

The greenery above the mantel was colored with Copic markers and I added a touch of green tinsel glitter to the wreath.  Glittered cardstock was used for the swag and to fill in the leaves.  To give the fire a bit more spark, Cloud Nine velvet glitter from Sparkle N Sprinkle was added.  The bucket of wood was pop dotted for even more dimension and a Spica glitter pen was used to create the bricks in the fireplace itself.  A bit of paper piercing finishes off the front panel.

What better way to complete the package than to go ahead and create a handmade envelope with the WR Memory Keepers envelope board AND create your own labels using the sleigh from the new Cold Weather Wee Petites?

First, I used standard labels that you buy at the office supply store, used Word to fill them out, and printed them.  Then I adhered my sleigh which, as you can see has been blinged up with Gypsy Red and Sonic Silver velvet glitter, both from SNS.  These little Wee-Petites are the perfect size to design your own address labels with.

Dream

Wee Henrietta Bookworm is a digital image from Hambo Stamps that I had a bit of free time to play with today.  It's been a while since I was able to participate in the Hambo Hoedown (Hambo's weekly challenge), but this week was the week.  The challenge this week is paper piercing.  Not only did I paper pierce the four corners and the flower centers in the "wallpaper", I also paper pierced the sentiment "Dream".

Henrietta is colored with Copics and fussy cut out.  Creative Inspiration paints (gold, pink highlights) were added to the chair and her shoe strings.  The M-Bossibilities embossing folder (Mystic) reminded me of wallpaper, so I created a reading nook for her to read in her big, comfy chair.  The rug is a Lifestyles Crafts die and the wood floor is actually a piece of thin wood veneer that came in a cigar box.

Copics used: YG06, YG07, YG17, G48    B21, B23, B26, B60    BV00, BV02, BV04    E00, E01, E11, E13    E41, E43    R37, R39, RV99, FV1, FY1, FYR1, B32, B34, BG34, BG13, BV01, BV04, BV07    E08, E19, E29
