Magic of Christmas {Scrapy Land #97}

Happy Wednesday!  It's the first Wednesday of September and that means it's time for a new Scrapy Land Challenge!  The theme is always Anything Goes using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.

As I've mentioned before, I'm slowly working on my Christmas cards.  So I have another one to share with you today.  I used the following dies for my card:

Yvonne Creations: Christmas Decoration
Cheery Lynn Designs: Lattice 1
Sunny Studios: Fishtail Banners (any of these would work as well)

The image is a digi called Fairy Bauble from Make It Crafty.  I colored it with Copic markers and used the colors suggested on the online video class.  Once the image was finished, it was die cut out using the Sue Wilson die.

The backdrop was created by die cutting the Lattice 1 die three times from three different colors of cardstock.  I offset each one so the color patterns would be different.  (I cut off the excess portion on the sides so that the entire piece was still an A2 size.)

The Christmas Decoration was die cut from white cardstock and heat embossed with Gold embossing powder.

The sentiment (from Sunny Studios called Holiday Style) was stamped onto my fishtail die cut and heat embossed using Hero Arts White embossing powder.

I pop dotted it in the center so it would look curved.

Now it's your turn to join along in the fun.  You have until Sept 15 to upload your project to the Scrapy Land Challenge.  Remember it can be anything (mixed media, scrapbook page, altered art), as long as it includes dies that Scrapy Land sells.  There are over 55 brands to choose from.  You can see them all here.

This major milestone will be celebrated on Oct 17.  Stay tuned for details.

Paradise {Scrapy Land #43}

Can you believe it's June 1st!?!  This year is flying by.  Since it's also the first Wednesday of the month, that means it's time for a new Scrapy Land Challenge.  The theme for the first challenge is always Anything Goes using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.

The following dies were used for today's card:

Die-Versions: Jumping Dolphins
Spellbinders: Opulent Ovals
Sue Wilson Designs: Noble dies-Double Pierced Rectangles, Set B

Today's project started out by using Copic markers to transform the Make It Crafty's Beach Digi Stamp into a sunset scene instead of a beach scene.

Once this was completed, I die cut the Opulent Ovals die from white cardstock and heat embossed the outer piece with Dark Night embossing powder.   Then I inserted the oval back into the frame.

The Jumping Dolphins die cut was also colored with Copics and a touch of glitter (Starfire) was added to the island trees and the stamen on the hibiscus.  I pop dotted this over the island scene and then added my die cut sea birds.

To finish it off, I die cut the yellow mat and the card base with two of the Sue Wilson die frames.

 I sure wish I was visiting this paradise about now.  How about you?

Be sure to visit the Scrapy Land Challenge blog to see what the rest of the team has created.  I know you won't be disappointed.  You'll have until June 12th to upload your project.  The winner, chosen by the Design Team, will receive a $15 gift certificate to go shopping at Scrapy Land.

friends {Scrapy Land #40}

It's already the third Wednesday of the month and time for a new Scrapy Land Challenge.  The theme for this challenge is Think Spring, plus use any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.  Spring is definitely underway here in the South and everything is blooming and everyone is sprucing up their yards.

I used two different Die-Versions dies, the new Curly Words - friends die and lots of the elements from the Garden Gazebo die:

The image is a digi image from Make It Crafty (Girls Secret Swing).  I created the background and colored the image with Copic markers.

All of the elements from the Garden Gazebo die were colored with Spectrum Noir Sparkle markers.  Clear Sparkle marker was used on the friends die cut, although the camera didn't pick it up very well.

I also die cut the friends sentiment four times and adhered the layers to each other to create a thicker sentiment.  Normally, I use fun foam for added dimension but I wanted it to be even thicker.

Be sure to visit the Scrapy Land Challenge blog to see what the rest of this amazing team has created for you.  You'll have until Sunday, May 1 to upload your Spring inspired project.  The winner, chosen by the design team, will receive a $15 gift certificate to go shopping at Scrapy Land.

Merry and Bright {Scrapy Land #27}

It's the first Wednesday of the month and that means it's time for a new challenge from Scrapy Land!  The theme is Anything Goes using any brand of dies (low-profile/steel ruled) that Scrapy Land sells.  Since they have over 40 brands to choose from, you shouldn't have any problems.

Today's Christmas card combines a digi image colored with Copic markers from Make It Crafty with dies from Sue Wilson Designs (Festive Collection - Snowflake Background) and Sizzix (Tim Holtz's Holiday Word Script).

I adhered the Snowflake Background die onto a piece of vellum covered with a piece of super adhesive sheet and Sparkling Snow glitter.

The Merry and Bright die cuts were covered with VersaMark and then heat set with Firecracker Red embossing powder from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  The green from the mat gives the vellum a touch of color and makes the glitter sparkle even more.

The card base was dry embossed using the Sue Wilson Designs Quilled Flowers embossing folder.

Now it's your turn to create something for the Scrapy Land Challenge.  The winner, which is chosen by the designers, will receive a $15 gift certificate to go shopping at Scrapy Land.  You have until Oct 18th to join in on the fun.  Be sure to check out the Scrapy Land Pinterest boards for more inspiration and also see what the rest of the team has come up with this week.

Blue Girl

Hair always seems to be my nemesis.  So when I heard about a new e-book that helps you color long hair, I decided to try it.  You can purchase it from Make It Crafty and it includes this digi by Saturated Canary.

This was my first attempt at coloring this image (and all that hair) and I'm pretty happy with the results.  What do you think about it?  The book gives you step by step instructions as well as photos.  Zoe definitely makes it look easy.  Now if I could color any type of hair like this, I would be a very happy girl :-P.

Must keep practicing though!
