Moments Like These {Lavinia World #35}

 

Hey everyone, it's time for Lavinia World Challenges #35! The theme is always anything goes using a stamped image and the winner will receive a $15 gift code to go shopping at Lavinia World, the largest US retailer of Lavinia stamps.

For today's project, I used the following products:

This project has quite a few layers and lots of fussy cutting. I think the extra fussy cutting was well worth the time it took to get in between various spaces on each image.  I stamped and fussy cut both the fairy focal point as well as the mushrooms behind her. This enabled me to adhere parts of the image and pop dot other parts of the same image, giving the entire project lots more dimension. I have to say the photo doesn't quite do the finished project justice.  Some of the mushroom heads, which are colored with colored pencils, are pop dotted and the wings are covered with Wink of Stella.  This gives them lots of sparkle when you move the card just right 😀.  Fairy Hugs glitter powder was added to the flowers for added color and sparkle as well.

The oval background was created using one of the new Lavinia stencils and Altenew dye inks. I then die cut it using an older Sizzix die. I added a piece of die cut grass at the bottom to ground everything and then finished the project with my frame.

Puttin' On The Ritz {Jan's Digi Shop}

Happy Monday!  Time for a new Jan's Digi Stamp Challenges #6.  I have a new project featuring this digi stamp set from Jan's Digi Shop called Puttin' On The Ritz 3225J.

I printed the digi image and the sentiment from my computer onto white cardstock and colored him with Copic markers.  I added a bit of Wink of Stella glitter pen to the roses, the hat band, and his tie.

I deckled edged the colored image and adhered it onto a die cut frame from Penny Black (Lovely Border).  This was then layered onto a piece of bright red specialty paper from Tonic Studios. The card base is black, so on the inside, I layered another piece of the red specialty paper and a piece of white cardstock to write my message.

Jan's Digi Shop is one of the few digi stores that also gives your pre-colored images.  If you need to create a card in a hurry, this is the way to do it.  You could add a few of your own embellishments and your good to go!

Tennis Tess

Happy Friday everyone!  It's time for the Anime New Release from Scrapper's Delights!  Here are the three new Anime images for this month "Don't Forget, Cheerleader Stacey, and Tennis Tess":

The best deal is the Anime VIP Deal Zodiac Bundle. In the  where you receive all three images plus the Anime VIP - Virgo image and lots of design elements to go along with the image.  (Since this is my star sign, I'm especially partial to it 😀.)

For my project today, I used Tennis Tess.  I created the background using digi papers and used both the image and the sentiment that comes in this file.  (You also get an image that automatically has this sentiment with it, but the placement wasn't quite right for what I had in mind.  So you get lots of options to choose from.)

I colored the image with Copic markers and added Wink of Stella to her blouse.  I love the soft sparkly look it gives this.  I also went over the printed sentiment with a silver metallic pen for more emphasis.

The backing papers are all from Tonic Studios as is the die that I used in the corner of the gold paper.

Loads of Love

I have a new project using Cheapo Dies to share with you on this fabulous Friday!  I used this 11 piece die set called Loads of Love to create this fun card:

To start out, I die cut everything from white cardstock and then used Copic markers to color the truck and the sentiment.  Although it's hard to tell in the photo, the sentiment has an ombre effect, going from light pink to a darker pink.

The hearts were also colored with Copics and a bit of bling was added to them using a Spectrum Noir Sparkle Marker (Clear).  The hub caps were colored with a Wink of Luna metallic marker (Silver).

A bit of washi tape and twine are used for the finishing touches to this cute and simple card.  I think this would be great for a guy or a gal.

Partridge Branch

It's hard to believe that there are only three more months till Christmas!  If you haven't started your Christmas cards yet, now is the time :-).  To help motivate you, I created a Christmas card using the Die-Versions Partridge Branch die.

After die cutting it from white cardstock, I used my Copic markers to color this image.  A Wink of Stella (Clear) brush pen was used to give a soft sparkle to the plume and to the pears.  The frame, which was left over from another project, was covered with Cloud Nine velvet glitter and the background was dry embossed using a Crafters Companion embossing folder (Christmas Merriment).  The card front was also dry embossed, using a Spellbinder M-Bossabilities embossing folder (Dainty Dots).

To create my sentiment, using the same color Copic as the bird plume, I colored a piece of scrap cardstock and die cut the DV Sweet Wordlet Tis The Season.

Father Christmas {Scrapy Land Challenge #26}

Today is the beginning of a new challenge from the Scrapy Land Challenge.  The theme is ADD AN IMAGE (Rubber or Digi) PLUS use any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.

The dies used to create this Christmas card were:

To start off, I stamped this Holly Berry Father Christmas rubber stamp with Staz-On ink (Jet Black) and then used Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to color the image.

A Snow Writer pen was used to add dimension to his collar and gloves and while the paint was still wet, I sprinkled on some Cloud Nine Velvet glitter.  Wink of Stella was used to accent the holly leaves and berries and a shimmer mist was spritzed over the entire card for a touch more sparkle.

Two Tickets to Paradise

I have a very colorful notecard and coordinating envelope to brighten your day today.  All of the dies are newly released from Die-Versions.

To start out, the Jumping Dolphins were used on the envelope and were watercolored using Distress Inks (Pumice Stone, Chipped Sapphire, Salty Ocean, Mowed Lawn, Forest Moss, Ripe Persimmon, Abandoned Coral, and Mustard Seed).

The front of the card showcases the new Beach Turtles, which were colored with Copic markers and the shapes on the shells and the sentiment (created using the DV Frank font) were watercolored with Distress Inks (Ripe Persimmon, Abandoned Coral, and Mustard Seed).

The same colors of Distress Ink were used for the inside  as well (Ripe Persimmon, Abandoned Coral, and  Mustard Seed).  The Tiki was die cut from watercolor  paper and a black background was placed behind it.  The sentiment is the new Nautical font.

The colors are even more bright and colorful in person and makes you dream about being on a beach somewhere enjoying life :-).

Steampunk Hat

I have to admit, Steampunk is a bit out of my comfort zone, but when someone described it as Victorian meets Industrial, it made more sense to me :-).  So today, I'm using the new Steampunk Hat from Die-Versions as the focal point of my card.

After die cutting it out of watercolor paper, I used several Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to color the image and just a little bit of water.  To tone it down some, I added white Wink of Stella on top.  The gears on the hat were inked using a VersaMarker, covered with Silver Bells embossing powder from Sparkle N Sprinkle and heat set.  I also added a pearl string from Mon Ami Gabby.

The background was created using white cardstock and a Dreamweaver stencil (Gears) and embossing paste.  While the embossing paste was still wet, I sprinkled Blackened Bronze and Silver Detail embossing powders on it and then heat set it.  When you heat set embossing paste, it tends to make the paste bubble and that was exactly what I wanted.  It gave it a rough texture plus the Blackened Bronze gave it a rusted look to certain spots.  To add color to the white cardstock, several Distress Stains were applied.  I kept adding different colors until I was happy with the results.  And since most embossing pastes act as a resist, the Distress Stains didn't change the color of my gears.

Some floral paper, lace and a rosette (plus a couple more layers :-) ) add my finishing touches .

Prayers {Scrapy Land #19}

Scrapy Land Challenge #19 begins today and the theme for this bi-monthly challenge is Anything Goes using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.

For today's project, I wanted to create a CAS card and add just a bit of simple quilling.    I die cut my circle for the sentiment using the center section of the Sue Wilson Designs (Italian Collection - Umbria).  The sentiment is from the stamp set Iris Garden by Sparkle N Sprinkle and was stamped using Distress Ink (Peacock Feathers) and then immediately heat embossed with Ranger's Clear embossing powder.


The quilling was arranged around this focal point and after being glued down, was covered with Wink of Stella (Clear) glitter pen.

The background was dry embossed using a Spellbinders embossing folder (Simplicity) and then die cut using a Memory Box Stitched Rectangle Layers die.  I also ran a strip of black cardstock through the same embossing folder, added Wink of Stella to the raised portions and adhered it to the side of the card.

Happy National Scrapbook Day and have a wonderful Mother's Day!!

The Vase of Roses die was used to create the focal point for my Mother's Day card.  I die cut the image four times - once from watercolor paper that I created a pattern using Bister stains, once from white cardstock, and twice from white fun foam.

I cut out the vase from the cardstock and adhered it directly to the white cardstock then I colored the flowers with my Copic markers.  A Wink of Stella (Clear) was added to the roses for added sparkle.

The background for the flowers was also die cut from white card stock using the Diamonds Background by Die-Versions and the sentiment was die cut from the Cuppycake font.


I wanted lots of dimension to my roses and since there are so many small opening throughout the image, I decided it would be too time consuming to cut up small pieces of dimensional foam to achieve the effect I was looking for.  Fun foam to the rescue.  The double layer of fun foam gives me lots of added dimension.  Plus, all the layers were easy to adhere to each other with liquid glue.  It really brings the vase of roses to the foreground.  The photo on the right gives you a glimpse of the effect.

I also distressed the edges of the yellow cardstock and added some Mon Ami Gabby bling around the corners.

'Shrooms

I've had more fun using the Mushroom die set from Die-Versions.  For today's card I experimented with fun foam and a heat tool.

All you need to do is die cut the fun foam using the dies from the Mushroom set, heat up the fun foam with your heat tool, and watch it shrink before your eyes!  It's a super easy technique and it really works.

Both the red capped mushroom and the white capped mushroom (pictured in the photo to the right) were die cut using the same large mushroom die from the set.  How long you heat the fun foam dictates how much the foam piece will shrink.  I also experimented with different color foam and found that my white fun foam shrunk more than the colored fun foam did.  (The foam eventually stops shrinking and you know it's time to quit.)

Once I had all my pieces shrunk, I colored them with Copic markers and added some Wink of Stella to the caps for a bit of sparkle.  The random white dots were left overs from the white foam.

The sentiment is also die cut from yellow fun foam and is the Hello Express Edge from Die-Versions.  I love that the fun foam allows you to curve the sentiment instead of just being straight.  The background was created using various Distress Inks, a bit of water, and a spritz of homemade shimmer.

So dig out your fun foam and start die cutting and shrinking to your heart's desire.

Happy Day

Today I'm showcasing the new Spring Bike die by Die-Versions.

I started out by die cutting the bicycle in cream, black, and red so that I could paper piece parts of the bike onto the red bike base.  The basket and flowers were die cut three times in cream so they could be stacked on top of each other for added dimension.  Sometimes it's easier to die cut several pieces and adhere them together rather than adding a pop dot to the back, especially if it's a small area that you want more dimension on.  The top layer of the basket and flowers were colored with Copic markers, Wink of Stella glitter pens, and Spica glitter pens.

I cut off the bike seat, tires, and hand grips from the black cardstock die cut and adhered it to the red bike.  All of the silver pieces of the bike were colored using a Wink of Stella glitter pen.  Glossy Accents was added to the red portions of the bike so it would look like the red beach cruiser bike that I have :-).  Lastly, I die cut the Spring Bike one more time out of black fun foam and adhered it to the back of the finished bike for dimension (and a touch of shadow near the flowers).

The background circle is a die from Little B (Circles) that includes the dots around the perimeter.  I die cut the same circle without the dots from black cardstock and adhered it behind the patterned paper to make the dots pop.

The sentiment banner, which is a die from MFT (Fishtail Flags), was created using a rubber stamp from Simon Says Stamp (Always Edge Set AE6) and was heat embossed with White Detail embossing powder from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  I also sprinkled on some Buttercup Petal embossing powder on top of the sentiment to give the banner a speckled look.  As a final touch to the banner, I used Sparkle embossing powder and the Bling Your Brad technique on a heart shaped brad that I had.
