Sew thankful for you

This card and tag techniques from the Tim Holtz Chemistry 101 on-line class I participated in.  The dress form was created using a Unity Stamp and the Brushless Watercolor technique and then distressing the edges with Distress Ink (Scattered Straw).  The purple tag was created with Distress Inks and then misted with Smooch Spritz (Vanilla Shimmer).  The spool of thread is also a Unity stamp that I heat embossed and fussy cut out.  I applied a heavy dose of Art Glitter (pink gala glitz) to the heart and added the Ruler Ribbon as a finishing touch.

The card base is Kraft resist paper that I inked up with Distress Inks and then flicked with water (the blended, spritz and flick technique).  I attached the tag with removable tape so the recipient could use the tag for a book mark or for whatever they choose.

I had so much fun taking the class.  I'm sure you'll be seeing a lot more of the techniques we learned (or relearned) as time goes by.

I'm entering this in the following challenge: Oozak (anything goes)

Lord Money Man

It's the second Wednesday of the month.  Do you know what that means?  Yep, it's time for the Freebie/Guest Designer challenge at Dude Time Doodles.  Head on over and pick up Lord Money Man for free this week.  If you miss him, he's also available at the store, along with some fun sentiments.  As you can see, I used one of these sentiments on my card.

For the background, I used the Archival Resist technique taught in this class.  (You can still register and get all the materials.)  The rubber stamps used on the background are from Stampin' Up,  Stampers Anonymous, and 100 Proof Press.  All the edges are distressed with Distress Inks.

Now, run on over to the Dude Time Doodles Challenge blog to pick up your very own Lord Money Man and enter our challenge.  You could be the next Dude or Dudette guest designer.  So very cool.....

For You

This was a very fun card to make.  As you can probably tell, I'm loving glitter at the moment.  Needless to say though, I get it all over me.  The flower stencil is from Dreamweavers and I used PK Glitz glitter as well as PK Glitz Sticky Paper.  If you use this paper, you don't have to apply soap to the back of the stencil - it pulls off easily.  (I must admit that I tried a few other sticky backed papers that I had laying around and they didn't work - at all.)  The border is from Cheery Lynn Designs and the sentiment is a rub on from Sizzix that I've had for ages.  I wish you could see this card in person as it is so shimmery and sparkly.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges: Dreamweavers (flowers); Great Impressions (flowers); Cheery Lynn Designs (think spring).

PK Glitz glitters: Pine Forest, Sea Mist, Golden Diamond, Crystal, Violet

Coffee anyone?

Today's challenge from Paper Makeup Stamps' Digi Makeover Challenge is to use bright colors.  This is easy for me as I love brighter colors and have a hard time with pastels.

Both my image and sentiment are from the Caffeine Trip set by Paper Makeup Stamps.  This was so fun to color with all my florescent Copic markers.  The image is cut out with Spellbinder's Wonky Squares (#6 - assumes #1 is the smallest) and the sentiment is cut with Spellbinder's Deckled Mega Rectangles Large (#1).  The background paper is by Basic Grey (Lime Rickey) and the card base is Core'dinations.  I added Glossy Accents to all of the dot on the paper for more dimension.

You have one week to show us your bright colors.  Just link up your creation at the Digi Makeover Challenge, and remember, you must use a digi for our challenges.  Don't forget to check out what the rest of the design team has for you too.

I'm also entering this in the following challenge: Oozak (anything goes).

Easter Dress

It's hard to believe that two weeks have passed by so quickly.  That means it's time for a new challenge from Pattie's Creations and we are celebrating Easter.  As I was looking through all the wonderful images at Pattie's Esty store,  I came across this gorgeous Little Girl Dress.  It reminded me of when I was little and would always get a new dress to wear for Easter services and then the Easter Egg Hunt.  Usually my grandmother made them, making the dresses even more special.

The dress is colored with Copic markers and fussy cut out.  The flower on the dress is a Sizzix die (Flowers 3D) that I cut down slightly.  I thought the Cheery Lynn Designs (Large French Lattice) die looked like one of those grids where clothing stores will display their favorite items.  So I hung the dress on that.  I was very fortunate that the background paper (very old from Creative Memories) matched the colors I had chosen for this.  (I usually do things opposite of most people in that I color my image and then find papers to coordinate.  From what I read, most people choose the papers and then color.  Oh well.)  The sentiment was generated on my computer and then highlighted with Paper Soft Colors (lilac).

You have two weeks to upload your Easter projects to the Pattie's Creations challenge blog.  The rules are posted on the challenge blog, but the main one is that you must use an image (either a rubber stamp or a digital one).

A tisket, a tasket, a little yellow basket

I needed an Easter Basket to place a few Easter goodies in, so I decided to make one.  I found this great tutorial on how to weave your own here.  (One extra bit of info: you'll need 2 sheets of 12" x 12" of cardstock to complete the basket as I did.)  Each of the four sides are decorated using a variety of dies (from Cheery Lynn Designs, MFT, Memory Box, Spellbinders, Sizzix), rubber stamps (Unity, Cowtown, VLVS), Copic markers, Distress Ink, Viva Decor Pearl Pen, and Creative Inspiration paints.

The first panel scene was created by combining Cheery Lynn Designs (Victorian Picket Fence, Mini Flourish One),  Memory Box (Butterfly Delights, Twiggy Tree, Leafy Canopy), MFT (Fresh Cut Grass), Sizzix (Branch, Cherry Blossom) dies.  All the flowers are painted with Creative Inspiration paints (Winter Frost) so they are very shimmery and the centers were added with a Pearl Pen.

The opposite side is decorated with rubber stamp (bunny - Cowtown Stamps; bees - Unity Stamps) images, which are colored with Copic markers and the bees wings were painted with Creative Inspirations paints (Pink Highlights, Sunshine).  In addition Pink Highlights was used on the bunny's ear, nose, and eye lid.

The other two sides of this woven basket are decorated with butterflies cut out with Cheery Lynn Designs (Exotic Butterflies Small) and highlighted with Creative Inspiration paints as well.  The little butterflies are from Memory Box (Butterfly Delights).

The sentiment is from VLVS and was cut out with Spellbinders (Standard Tags).

I'm entering my basket in the following challenges: Cheery Lynn Designs (basket); Great Impressions (flowers); Creative Inspiration paints (Easter); Oozak (anything goes).

Bowlegged Cowboy

The first Wednesday challenge from Dude Time Doodles will tickle your funny bone.  It's all about jokes.  Our wonderful sponsor for this challenge is Pattie's Creations and she will be giving the winner two images from .
I went about this challenge a bit backwards (I think) because I researched jokes on the Internet, found one I liked, and then found the perfect Bonibleaux Designs image, Deputy Dave, to go with the joke.  "Why did the bowlegged cowboy get fired?     Because he couldn't keep his calves together!"

The image is colored with Copic markers and fussy cut out.  The background paper and yee-haw "ribbon" are from DSE and I applied Distress Stickles (frayed burlap) around the outside edge and then brushed it inward for a more distressed look.  Everyone knows that a good cowboy needs a lasso to help round up those calves he keeps loosing.  The sentiment was created on the computer and outlined with Spica glitter pens and the card base was cut out using a Lifestyles Crafts die.

Now it's your turn to make us laugh.  You have one week to upload your creation to the Dude Time Doodles challenge blog using the link button.  Don't forget to see what the other Dude/Dudettes have come up with for your laughing pleasure.

Too Cute For Words

It's Monday and that means it's time for a new Digi Makeover Challenge.  This week, we are playing a game of Tic Tac Toe.

I decided to go right down the middle for the win, using circles (card base), sparkle (PK Glitz Glitter and Perfect Pearls) and silhouette (Baby Jamie) from Paper Makeup Stamps.

I created a circular card using Spellbinders Grand Circles and outlined the edge of the card with PK Glitz (crystal) glitter.  The sentiment is from DSE, a digital scrapbooking company.  For added sparkle, I combined Perfect Pearls (biscotti and pewter) with my water brush and created a pearlized paint.  I used pewter to add sparkle to the silhouette and biscotti for the wings.

Head on over to the Digi Makeover Challenge to upload your tic tac toe project.  Remember, you must use a digi.  Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has created for you too.
