Sewing Mends the Soul

While surfing the net the other day, I discovered a quilt made with this design and decided to replicate the quilt block with papers from Authentique.  (If you haven't discovered this new company yet, you definitely should look into their papers.  I don't normally have too much to say about patterned papers, but these are gorgeous!)  All of these papers are from the Journey collection.

Now for the inside of the card.  The sentiment is from Create with TLC and was a freebie on Friday.  This was perfect timing as I thought it would go well with my quilt block.  The sentiment is cut out with Spellbinders Labels 14 (#5) and distressed with Antique Linen, Wild Honey, and Broken China Distress Inks.  The spool of thread is a rubber stamp by Unity that I embossed with Sea White embossing powder.  I highlighted the thread with Copic markers (BG05, BG07) and fussy cut the image out.  I also colored my blue buttons with the same markers to coordinate with the paper better, added a smaller cream colored button in the center and adhered to the card.

You never know what will inspire you!

Gorgeous! Love quilting myself, and often forget that quilt blocks make wonderful cards, too. This one is a marvelous combination of papers and I love it in blues.
