Now for a bit about my project.

This sentiment, which is part of the Chicken Run stamp set, makes me chuckle every time I read it.

After die cutting my various squares using the Grand Squares dies from Spellbinders, I die cut the top right corner of the smallest square with the Mixed Media dies by Sizzix.  I heat embossed the sentiment with Black Detail embossing powder and I stamped the chickens with Black Soot Distress Ink.

Now it was time to make the sentiment come to life.  I added various glitters in different patterns on each of the chickens to give them  their unique look.  The glitters used were Lator Gator, Jasper Blue, Fiery Fuchsia and Galaxy Night.

I created a border around the edge of the middle square using 1/8" Tear-ific Tape and more Galaxy Night glitter.  A bit of raffia adds the finishing touch to this country style card.

Your next stop on the Nov Reveal Blog Hop is Shona and I know she has created something fabulous!  Don't forget to leave each of us a comment for your chance to win all five of the new stamp sets released this month.

Witch's Hat

Halloween is only a few days away and I wanted to make one more card for a friend.  I created a shaker card using the Witch Hat by Die-Versions  The shaker part has spiders from the DV Spider Web die and orange glitter.

The hat was colored with various embossing powders from Sparkle N Sprinkle: Black Magic for the spiders, Firefly for the yellow lightning bolts, Pumpkin on the hat band, Amethyst on the outline of the hat, and Glow in the Dark on the spider webs.

My (not so secret) message, a rubber stamp from Stampers Anonymous, was stamped onto Embossable Clear Acetate with VersaMark and then heat set with more Glow in the Dark embossing powder.

It's really hard for me to get a good picture of it glowing, but it really does. The photo on the left is blurry, but you can see how much it glows in the dark.  The photo on the right also shows the glow aspect, but it was taken in a dark room, but some light was shining in.

Be sure to check the Die-Versions blog often to see what the rest of the team has created for you.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Witching Hour

I have another Halloween card for your today featuring the Witching Hour stamp set from Sparkle N Sprinkle.

To start out, I dry embossed a piece of YUPO synthetic paper and then added color with my Color Bursts.  After that dried, I heat embossed the witch from the stamp set onto the background using Black Magic embossing powder.  (Be careful heating this paper, as it can curl if you get it too hot.)
The spider web and spiders are from the Spider Web die by Die-Versions.  Glow in the Dark embossing powder was added to the spider web for a fun aspect.  It gives off a yellowish color when see in normal light and really glows in the dark.  The cat was die cut from black patterned paper and is by Poppy Stamps.

The sentiment, which is part of the set was heat embossed onto a piece of Embossable Acetate as I wanted it to be on top of the web.  Amethyst embossing powder was used for this.

Happy Halloween!

Boo Bag {Scrapy Land #28}

Time for a new challenge from Scrapy Land.  The theme for the Scrapy Land Challenge #28 is Embossing (heat or dry), plus use any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.  Since it's almost time for all the little trick or treaters to come by,  I decided to make a treat bag for my not-so-little college guy, filled with candy.  (You're never too old to receive treats from your parents :-).)

To start out, I die cut the card base from a Sizzix die (Ticket Fold A Long) from patterned cardstock and then started decorating from there.  On the outside, I used a couple different Die-Versions dies.  The small spider is one of the spiders from the Spider Web die and the larger one in the upper left corner is the Black Widow Sweet Petite die.  Both are heat embossed using Black Magic embossing powder from Sparkle N Sprinkle and both have googly eyes.

When you open the card, you'll see more Die-Versions dies.  The Skeleton was heat embossed using White Spark embossing powder, the BOO is from the Short Stop font set, and the small spider is part of the Spider Web die set.  Both the sentiment and the spider are heat set with Black Magic embossing powder.

The photo on the left shows part of the front of the card and part of the inside fold.  Plus you can see the sparkle better.  Black tissue paper was added to the inside of the treat bag and then lots of candy.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the team has created for you too.  You have until November 1 to submit your Embossed project.  The winner will receive a $15 gift certificate to go shopping at Scrapy Land.

Happy Haunting!

Dashing Through the Snow

Today's card showcases the Sparkle N Sprinkle Sleigh Ride stamp set.  I started out by die cutting the ornament shape from the Spellbinders 2010 Heirloom Ornament die and then covering it with Distress Inks (Shaded Lilac and Blueprint Sketch).  Next, the image and the sentiment were stamped with Black Soot Distress Ink.

I then applied VersaMark ink over the entire thing and heat set it with Clear embossing powder.  To simulate falling snow, I sprinkled some Super Thick White embossing powder over the top and heat set it from the bottom. You'll want to heat set this chunky embossing powder from the bottom, otherwise it will blow away.

The background is a Sue Wilson Designs die (Festive Collection - Snowflake background) that was covered with Cloud Nine glitter using the Glueless Glitter technique.

This layer was edged with more Shaded Lilac ink, pop dotted, and adhered to the card base.  A double looped bow was added as a finishing touch.

Meet Me Under the Mistletoe

Hey everyone, I have a Christmas card for you today using the Die-Versions Mistletoe die.  This is a pretty simple card and could easily be mass produced.  (I think using the Cracked Glass technique on the top layer would look really good too.  Next time :-).)

The background uses basic shapes from the Ticket Fold A Long die and each layer is covered with soon-to-be released Chunky Embossing Powders from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  The base is red, black, and white chunky powders, the center mat is covered with a red/white combo, and the top layer is a chunky red.

The Mistletoe is also covered with Sparkle embossing powder, but I couldn't get it to show up in any of the photos.  I added some gems for the berries and a ribbon to finish it off.

Be sure to check back at the DV Blog often to see what the rest of the team has created for you.

Merry and Bright {Scrapy Land #27}

It's the first Wednesday of the month and that means it's time for a new challenge from Scrapy Land!  The theme is Anything Goes using any brand of dies (low-profile/steel ruled) that Scrapy Land sells.  Since they have over 40 brands to choose from, you shouldn't have any problems.

Today's Christmas card combines a digi image colored with Copic markers from Make It Crafty with dies from Sue Wilson Designs (Festive Collection - Snowflake Background) and Sizzix (Tim Holtz's Holiday Word Script).

I adhered the Snowflake Background die onto a piece of vellum covered with a piece of super adhesive sheet and Sparkling Snow glitter.

The Merry and Bright die cuts were covered with VersaMark and then heat set with Firecracker Red embossing powder from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  The green from the mat gives the vellum a touch of color and makes the glitter sparkle even more.

The card base was dry embossed using the Sue Wilson Designs Quilled Flowers embossing folder.

Now it's your turn to create something for the Scrapy Land Challenge.  The winner, which is chosen by the designers, will receive a $15 gift certificate to go shopping at Scrapy Land.  You have until Oct 18th to join in on the fun.  Be sure to check out the Scrapy Land Pinterest boards for more inspiration and also see what the rest of the team has come up with this week.

Jefferson and Wilson

Today's card combines two of the new stamp sets from Sparkle N Sprinkle: Jefferson 745 and Wilson 746.  I used quite a bit of masking to get my flock of pigeons standing around the flamingo.  All the images are colored with Copic markers.  The flamingo also has Bubble Gum glitter accentuating her feathers and Pink Jewels glitter was used on her toenails :-).

The sentiment, which is art of the Jefferson stamp set, was heat embossed using Dragon Fruit embossing powder.  A Spellbinders die (Standard Tags) was used to die cut the sentiment and the "ribbon" is glitter ribbon created with 1/4" Tear-ific Tape and Pink Jewels glitter.

The pink mat behind the image was dry embossed and heat embossed.  I used a Sue Wilson Designs embossing folder (Knotted Trellis) to dry emboss the cardstock and then I lightly ran a VersaMark pad over the raised areas and then heat set it with Clear embossing powder.

I wanted the string of Diamond mesh from Mon Ami Gabby to coordinate with the flamingo's toenails, so I added a dot of dimensional glue to each gem and covered them with more Pink Jewels glitter.  The Ivory Pearl String behind the sentiment is also from Mon Ami Gabby.
