Adventures Await

It's the first Wednesday of March and that means it's time for a new Scrapy Land Challenge.  The theme for the first Wednesday is always Anything Goes using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.

Today I used several dies, all from Die-Versions, to create my little poster.  Here are the dies I used:

Die-Versions: Reading Tree
Die-Versions: A Little Lime font
Die-Versions: Bricks Background

I started out by die cutting the Reading Tree die set and the Bricks Background from black cardstock.  I added a bit of bling to the tree using glitter from Sparkle N Sprinkle: Jasper Blue for the birds and the bow in the little girl's hair and Lator Gator for the leaves starting to come out.

For the Bricks Background, I first heat embossed Winter Berry embossing powder on top of the black cardstock and then randomly sprinkled White Spark embossing powder on top of the Winter Berry.  This gave it a two toned look.

The dies were then adhered to a piece of red cardstock.  The color was a little too bright, plus I wanted variations of color here as well.  So I used the Direct to Paper technique and added Fired Brick Distress Ink to the red cardstock.  The color variation is subtle, but in person it's more noticeable.

I found some books clipart on the computer and printed it on white cardstock.  I then adhered the focal panel and the message onto the digi paper I created.

My not-so-subtle message about how reading is fun was created using white cardstock and A Little Lime font.  I left these white as I really wanted the letters to stand out.

Now it's your turn to come play with us.  You have until March 12 to upload your project to the Scrapy Land Challenge.  The winner is chosen by the design team and will receive a $15 gift certificate to go shopping at Scrapy Land.

I'm entering this in the following challenge: Simon Says Stamp: Based On a Book
